Watch the SCV audition video (you can buy it on tapspace). The push pull concept is explained there. A large portion of SCV's technique this year is based on that concept.
uhhh....I haven't been in DCI, but I'm a drummer and drum789, um, buzz rolls are not easy play cleanly unless you practice like a lot. Mine's still not clean. So, ya know, just sayin.
2:09 was interesting

how in the world do you do that
TankerBoy11 2 years ago
watch rcc 06, he does it even faster
VelvetKnights09 2 years ago
I'm learning how to do it. It's like a double-stroke 'open/close' concept, except you do it continuously.

i like the sound quality from the drums that BD used in 04, but those buzz rolls sound like a tree going thru a sawmill.
thekiller989 3 years ago
good solo, but it's kind of boring compared to Ivan Pacheco or Nico Jasniewicz in 2004. I mean Im not saying I can play it or anything.
rayl9 3 years ago 17
ya you got a good point.
AdamHolmez 3 years ago
@rayl9 I think it's because he doesn't show as much emotion.
