OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH MY FRIGIN' GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!! I've been looking for this song for YEEEEEEEEEEEEARS!! I knew the name of the song, but not the artist!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU for posting the song AND the video!!! This was the last song from my childhood that I couldn't find. Now my search is over! LOL
i first bought this song on a 7inch record back in the summer of 1983 great back then fantastic now especially with it's retro video thanks to youtube. just bought the cherie album murphy's law on compact disc on music . com imported from canada arrived through my letter box christmas eve made it a even better christmas what a fantastic album very well produced right up my street
I like the group but I don't know their history or storie this n Murphy's law and there 2 Murphy's law Al Jarreau but Cheri were good,I think they Broke up about it was something goin' on can't remember cuz' the one girl pic was on the next lp or made the appearance
All these years Ive never seen a video of a song that I loved so much now and especially when I was in Highschool. Thanks for opening that time capsule!
OMG! retrorhythms youve done it again... I remember this song. They use to play this song on WLBS a radio station in Detroit when they changed their format.
I love all the Geraldine Hunt songs. She's a gifted songwriter. That piano groove, the synths, the bass. Everything fits well. Listen to "No Communication" and "Give It To Me Baby" by Cheri.
Wow dude where do you get this stuff. I didn't even know there was a video for this. And the quality is good. 5 Stars and I just subscribed to your page.
Wow, I remember when this song got airplay back in the day. At the time I thought the lyrics were the saddest I'd heard in my life up to that point. I had left sticks for college in a big city and was just learning about urban life, including a few ladies who could relate to this song on a number of levels. I've never seen the video before. Thanks for sharing!!!
It did do very well on the dance charts...but you're right, it wasn't the big crossover hit that "Murphy's Law" was. There was another great track on the second album entitled "So Sure." And one of my favorites is from their first album -- "No Communication"!
I hanged around a major entertainment company in the early 80's as a kid and saw the video played on a monitor. I didn't know much about anything that was going on there- but I remember the song.
ThhhAnnksss!!!! Love this sooonnnggggg!!!!!

Yes, the lyrics are pretty sad...the groove masks them to some extent!

I loved both albums by Cheri. Working Girl should have been a huge hit.
