I have both games, and I have to say that I give the edge to UFC 3 on most counts. UFC 3's new submission system is better than EA MMA's because you can see clearly who is winning the submission at all times. The roster is obviously better, and the controls are vastly superior -- it is much easier to do strikes and transitions. The only edges I'd give to EA MMA are it's foot movement (as fighters movement is certainly smoother and more fluid) and a huge edge in its CAF mode. In my opinion, UFC

EA MMA played more like a real fight. UFC undisputed games have more/better moves. EA MMA with ufc roster and not using default movesets would be a much better game. The ground game is better in UFC IMO. EA MMA is better stand up submission game though. The transitions are better in UFC. EA MMA with ufc roster and transitions is the best MMA game ever!

ea mma i think is more fluid in the sense that the movement of the fighters is more realistic compared ufc 2010, not ufc 3, because of the footwork, also i think the sprawl in mma is much better shown then in ufc 3 or 2010, and the choke is also great, the other thing is the submission struggle is longer in ea for fighters who arent good bjj artist, and in ufc its the same, it doesnt last for long like in real life, i hope in ufc 4 they have strikeforce instead of wfa, and biggerrosters likewwe

Main issue with EA MMA is the total lack of moves and styles available. I mean, no posturing from half guard, no knees from side mount, no crucifix, no body triangle, no spinning elbows, no elbows from full guard, from side mount etc etc etc...I mean, you can't even get a body lock and ground and pound is horrible. However the animations look fluid.

I am extremely dissapointed in EA MMA(although i'm a big Fight Night fan), the game is slow and clunky as shit. You say it's more fluid I say it's controls are like trying to operate some kind of heavy machinery and the animations are some times hillarious, like I kicked some guy in the head and my leg went all rubbery and it looked like I slapped him in the face with a wet noodle. UFC 3's animations may be a bit stiff but it's a hell of a lot better at being a fun fighting game than EA MMA.

Yeah idk what demo you've been playing but UFC 3 is great. The movements in this game are NOT more fluid. You can EASILY tell where the separate motion captures are during each grapple movement. EA's MMA didn't look fluid in the striking game, they look uncoordinated and loose. the animations are too slow and awkward. When they are faster in movement it's too fast like the roundhouse kicks and head kicks. Undisputed 3 is by far better looking and more fluid then EA's MMA.

I have UFC '09 UFC '10 EA MMA and the UFC 3 demo and I personally feel that the UFC gaes are better. I think that the ground game on EA MMA sucks asshole and get really annoying and frustrating and I dont feel that I have control in what position I want to go to on the ground. I do feel that EA has a good stand up system but its kind of like who ever lands first is able to go on an unstoppable combo. I also didnt like the use of a health bar in EA. I do really enjoy EA I just prefer UFC games.

I wish the two games could be combined really, I love the striking system in ea mma and I think it's generally more fun to play ( especially with vale tudo head stomping). Knockouts are more frequent and it's awesome if you have some friends around to play a winner stays on format. UFC is probably better looking and having the better roster is a massive plus. Hey EA MMA is a great fighting game, it was diverse when it came to the rules like you can fight by the united rules of mma, vale tudo, or japanese rules. THQ remedied this by bringing in Pride which was something we were all waiting for. UFC has come a long way though all these years. Both are great games and should be a definite must for fight fans. At the end of the day both are a win for mma fans.

Should I drop the $60 on UFC3 or just $15 on EA MMA? I thought UFC felt a bit robotic. All I do in the demo is punch and they knock out after a while. I tried Sim mode which did make it a bit more challenging but in the end it felt like a rock em sock em robots game with take downs.

So should I save myself some money and get EA MMA or spend the cash and get UFC 3?

I'm really going to be playing offline career or exhibitions so online isn't a big factor. What has a better career/CAF mode?

1/2 Have you played the EA MMA demo? Compared to UFC Undisputed 2010 (back then), EA MMA had a very simple ground game, lacking strategy. Also the takedowns felt really unnatural, you just press A (or X on PS3) and you got him down, unless the oponnent presses B (or Circle). Really lame.

I don't know whether I'm enthousiastic or not about UFC Undisputed 3, but at least it's non-striking elements are much more detailed.

2/2 UFC 3 will have a career mode where you start in an amateur league. when you think you're ready, you can move up to the UFC. While fighting in UFC, you can switch to Pride FC and back. In the previous UFC games the careers were pretty cool, although after a while training got a bit boring. They've improved the whole training thing for this game.

CAF in UFC games used to be good, not spectacular, but still good.

What's new is that you can use both CAF and real fighters

3/2 :P excuse me, I just had to add that UFC 3 will have a really big roster (over 150 fighters) that can be used in both UFC and Pride FC fights. It's fun to just play with so many fighters, or play matches that will occur in reality. Also, the Ultimate Fight Mode, where you get objectives in each fight ('Win by KO in round 2', 'avoid being taken down'...) is pretty cool. UFC Undisputed games have many offline game modes (in terms of fighting games), so I'd go for it

@M0rBiDxFA Well, in my opinion there is no comparison. I think that EA mma blows UFC out of the water. Its a much more complete game. More thought has gone into the whole thing. Beter movement, more of a contest feel to it when it comes to gaining a better position on your opponent and also massive replay value. There are still plenty of people playing it online too. UFC has awkward and badly thought out standup and the clinch and ground game are virtually non existant.

EA MMA has better game mechanics, basically a modification of Fight Night...IMO once you learn the subtle aspects of the controls, it beats Undisputed hands down. The only real downside is the Career Mode's lack of depth and making it to the "bigtime" is fighting for Strikeforce, not the UFC. A sequel to this with some refinements and more depth couldn't be touched by the Undisputed series, however hard THQ tries.

i never did like EAMMA very much it was missing a bunch of positions and the striking seemed to be its primary focus as the ground game was over simplified the different rules were interesting but that was about it

If your a real mma fan than you know ea sports mma was a better game and just like ufc 09,10, and maybe 3 eventually some people will take advantage of the system...ea mma was 100x better than the ufc franchise ....now ufc 3 is better.. who's to say that ufc 3 will eventually be a bad game if ea builds on the good things of there game and scraps the things that kinda made it repetative... people that say ea mma was bad is because they dint have any skill on the stand up ...my opinion..

@musclesglasses201 With all due respect I do consider myself a "real MMA fan." I watch everything from UFC to Shark Fights and BAMMA. I have 6 ammy fights under my belt(5-1) and I still train BJJ when I can.The options and a lot of the things in EA MMA make it worth picking up. But I found UFC 2010 more enjoyable. But truth be told, being a "real" fan has nothing to do with video games nor the modes offered. The gameplay wasn't better, the biggest plus was the differences in rules offered.

yah i've played all the ufc games and after playing the new demo. i gotta say ea mma is still the top mma game. i ve been training muay thai for years and no other game is as realistic striking as ea mma. i was gonna buy the new ufc game but now ive decided not to. imma stick to the real game. ea mma.

So it finally came online and I spent a couple of hours on it last night. I will reserve my final verdict until I get back up to speed with the controls (it's been about 2 years). Things that stand out right now:

Pros:

-Commentary is pretty spot on

-Sweet flash KO's

-No Shine!

-Sim mode!

Cons:

-Robotic animations (see 2:28 or 4:30 of this clip ufc3 is not there yet with the animations)

-On the demo graphics seemed jaggy edged and generally not an improvement over 2010.

I have played a lot of mma games i own both ufc games and ea mma..

Ea mma is not brilliant the speed is great carer is decent but online is almost dead now..

Why because people treat it more as k1 then boxing knocking someone out is way to easy button bashers over power anolog players on a knockdown..

There both good but ufc 3 offers a more well rounded game and the amount of time they had with ea mma and to see how basic the move sets are is terriable..

i loved the stand up and the submission systems in ea, but the pride rules gameplay was really lacking as if they blocked your knee to the head it just drained your stamina instead of just doing less damage. Also the clinch and ground grappling was awful i thought, especially clinch game, the striking in the clinch was bad as well. And there werent the multitude of ground positions that ufc has. I definitely think that UFC 3 will pass up ea in all regards
