I suspect and axe would have been faster for me. mind you im more familiar with an axe. Keep your axe sharp and it really doesnt take much effort to fell a tree that size. The head weight does most of the cutting for you. But thats just me. Beautiful country you got there Nutn.

Enlighten me how you're right. I seek knowledge, so give some to me.
I got my SP10 a few years ago and have taken it camping a few times. once on a survival campout. it's ideal for cutting down small saplings to make a shelter with.
@MrBozac12 So you wood hike up a 3 mile mountain with a 20 pound chainsaw just to cut down a tiny tree like that, when it's easier and more fun just to do it with a knife. A knife takes skill and strenth to use, unlike a chain saw. And what are the chances if you get stuck in the wilderness, you're going to have a chainsaw and gas with you.
@lilpdidy99 im a fuckin logger jackass and yes i have walk up to 15 miles with a 660 saw and i cut down trees smaler that, if they were n my way cut no time to walk around lil shit . and i also keep my small 021 saw with my weneva i go in the to fuckin wood plus it take more skill to cut a tree dwn wit chain saw and not kill urself than a knife. who the fuck wants to cuta a tree with a knife. kno wat u wood. y u a jackass.later jackass
You freakin tree huggers are insane. You knew he was chopping a tree down, yet you clicked on the video just to bitch. Its a tree, a single dead tree. I guess none of you live in a house built with 2x4's. If you have nothing better to do than to gripe about nutn using wd-40, or cutting down a tree, then i feel sorry for you. Quit griping!
"WD-40 contains petroleum distillates and should be handled with the same precautions for any product containing this type of material"
And since they're keeping the exact formulation secret, but recommending against certain uses, it's a bit worrying. There's got to be a better way to protect the edge. BTW, it looked like a good shove would have finished that tree.
@CanItAlready I really wanna punch you in the mouth! A good shove! WOW man really! Worried about WD 40 like someones going around spraying in the roots of live trees and what not. Get a life homo!
Not crazy about WD-40. Not so sure it's a good idea to be spreading that stuff far and wide. From their own site: "WD-40 Company has taken steps to respect and conserve the environment, and encourages its users to do the same. While WD-40 can be used to help protect fishing equipment from rust and corrosion, WD-40 Company does not recommend using WD-40 to attract fish." I realize he's not fishing here, but this is outdoors and if everyone goes around spraying that stuff in the woods...
As much as we have to admire his determination to cut down that tree, nobody who knows what the hell they are doing involving bushcraft is going to cut down a tree with a knife. Its just an exercise in futility. In fact cutting down a tree with any instrument while practicing bushcraft is 99% a waste. You expend far to many calories cutting something down instead of just looking around for an alternative.
@eddomanoli As Nutfancy said "It was a dead tree" And your really crazy, a frikkin 10$ knife cant even cut though a small block of wood evn through like, 5 frikkin days.
@eddomanoli Then don't watch the fucking video you pussy. "Destroy a tree"? Grow a set of balls. This video is about how to use a knife not how to hug a fucking tree.
i'm not 100% but I once heard the aspens of Colorado are the largest single contiguous living system in the world as they are all connected I believe by their roots.
@misternylon All he was trying to do was test the chopping ability of the blade. Who cares if he could have pushed the tree over? That's not what he was trying to do.
Looks like a great ideea to push the tree with the knife in your hand, in case you fall (it's almost the case, you lost your equilibrium for a second) the knife provides a safe landing place. Also for testing the chopping capabilities of a knife you could use a fallen tree, instead of a young living tree.
@islandofice mybe cause u dont have an axe and instead u are a guy with a survival knife for all jobs cause u dont wanna carry an axe the whole time ...just like me
@islandofice mybe cause u dont have an axe and instead u are a guy with a survival knife for all jobs cause u dont wanna carry an axe the whole time ...just like me and its a SURVIVAL knife, designed for EVERYTHING
@NecroGargoth people who are not carrying an axe when they will be chopping are fool hardy, tools are designed for a function, case in point : You wouldnt use a screwdriver to hammer a nail. Yes, a knife can be designed to chop but to expect it to do any sort of job an axe would do would be pretty stupid and actually pretty funny to watch.
@boomer00000 i totally agree with u.as i said u just CAN use a survval knife for chopping wood when u are in ahurry or dont have an axe with u or because an axe will be heavy to take or useless...of course if the point of going somewhere is to chop wood , u choose the axe
@NecroGargoth But regardless i you plan to chop wood or not, if you plan to go into the northern forests you have got to bring an axe. And i don't know where you and nutnfancy have gotten your info, but an axe is really not that heavy. A good axe for the average backpacker shouldn't be anymore then about 4 1/2 to 5lbs, compare that to a 16-20oz knife plus the 2+lbs of sharpening equipment you're going to need(knives dull incredibly fast while chopping), it really makes no sense.
@boomer00000@NecroGargoth but like Nutnfancy has stated in other videos, you have to take into consideration how much heavier than a knife an axe or a hatchet is. An axe also takes considerably more energy to use so a large knife is more efficient or like he also says, take a survival saw. Even better.
@thing503 im sorry but i have a real problem with this comment, first, i would have chopped that tree down in about 10 chops of my axe, which is roughly a third of what he did so an axe is clearly more efficient. also, there is no such thing as a "survival saw", its called a buck saw.
@boomer00000 Lol, he constantly mentions his "Sawvivor" and it's used for survival purposes, so I'm going to call it a survival saw. Big deal if it has another name. And axes take a lot of energy to swing, you would be using up a lot of energy. If you pay attention to his other videos you would hear him say that he always uses his Sawvivor because it conserves energy, more than the knife, and much more than an axe.
I have one of these and I constantly bring it camping, not only does it serve as a knife but as a chopping axe as well. It can easily split a 5-6 inch dry log in one swing.
priceless....for shits and giggles get two friends and 3 trees one with a bucksaw one with a "survival knife you wish the handle was longer on"(called an axe those longer handle knives so you can swing better) and an axe...see who uses the most energy...see who finishes first...see who could of went on to their next task in a survival situation when approaching darkness is going to shut your "bush craft" down..

I realize he's not fishing here, but this is outdoors and if everyone goes around spraying that stuff in the woods...

Destroy a tree just to show that a short knife. Any knife of $ 10 does the same.

Looks like a great ideea to push the tree with the knife in your hand, in case you fall (it's almost the case, you lost your equilibrium for a second) the knife provides a safe landing place. Also for testing the chopping capabilities of a knife you could use a fallen tree, instead of a young living tree.
disneyboy7 1 year ago
and the chopping doesn't damage or unsharpen the knife? :o

@islandofice mybe cause u dont have an axe and instead u are a guy with a survival knife for all jobs cause u dont wanna carry an axe the whole time ...just like me and its a SURVIVAL knife, designed for EVERYTHING
NecroGargoth 1 year ago
@NecroGargoth people who are not carrying an axe when they will be chopping are fool hardy, tools are designed for a function, case in point : You wouldnt use a screwdriver to hammer a nail. Yes, a knife can be designed to chop but to expect it to do any sort of job an axe would do would be pretty stupid and actually pretty funny to watch.
boomer00000 1 year ago
@boomer00000 i totally agree with u.as i said u just CAN use a survval knife for chopping wood when u are in ahurry or dont have an axe with u or because an axe will be heavy to take or useless...of course if the point of going somewhere is to chop wood , u choose the axe
NecroGargoth 1 year ago
@NecroGargoth But regardless i you plan to chop wood or not, if you plan to go into the northern forests you have got to bring an axe. And i don't know where you and nutnfancy have gotten your info, but an axe is really not that heavy. A good axe for the average backpacker shouldn't be anymore then about 4 1/2 to 5lbs, compare that to a 16-20oz knife plus the 2+lbs of sharpening equipment you're going to need(knives dull incredibly fast while chopping), it really makes no sense.
islandofice 1 year ago
@boomer00000 @NecroGargoth but like Nutnfancy has stated in other videos, you have to take into consideration how much heavier than a knife an axe or a hatchet is. An axe also takes considerably more energy to use so a large knife is more efficient or like he also says, take a survival saw. Even better.
thing503 1 year ago
@thing503 there's just no getting through to you people
boomer00000 1 year ago
@thing503 im sorry but i have a real problem with this comment, first, i would have chopped that tree down in about 10 chops of my axe, which is roughly a third of what he did so an axe is clearly more efficient. also, there is no such thing as a "survival saw", its called a buck saw.
boomer00000 1 year ago
@boomer00000 Lol, he constantly mentions his "Sawvivor" and it's used for survival purposes, so I'm going to call it a survival saw. Big deal if it has another name. And axes take a lot of energy to swing, you would be using up a lot of energy. If you pay attention to his other videos you would hear him say that he always uses his Sawvivor because it conserves energy, more than the knife, and much more than an axe.
thing503 1 year ago
@boomer00000 107 chops, count them. If that took 15 chops with a good 4lbs(or 64 ounces for you knife users)
I'd be very surprised
islandofice 9 months ago
@islandofice not surprised. it would be easily done.
