Not only that, if a person relies on a DVD to transform them when gyms have been around for ages, and even jogging, and a good diet, then they are probably hopeless. Stick to what u know. It's simple, don't let your self eat so much. I dont understand why people can't grasp that concept

  • Just a tip. When you are doing your Kenpo workout at the end get your feet under your shoulders square like you're gettin ready to do a squat and bend your knees a little and keep your punches tight looked like you were dropping your hands and flailing your elbows out. Keep your elbows tight to your sides and throw jabs not hooks. U will get a much better burn. Also on curls turn your palms into your body not out it engages your bicep more and gives better results than turning them out like u r.

  • My only question is, I know this is a good program, I have seen lots of results, my only question is, I am not that big, I'm average size at best, i want to get into shape, but more so get mass and such, I don't need to lose that much weight. I'm 6'3 at 190, but p90x looks like a great program

  • You should do the Double schedule of P90X.

    During the resistance training such as Leg & Arms or Shoulder & Arms, Tony says if you want mass you need to use weights that will max you out at 6-8 reps.

    Don't forget the diet plan. I suggest more protein for muscle mass.

  • The double schedule? I am guessing when you start the program it has different schedules? And what would be the best place to get weights. All I have now are resistance bands and a mat. I would guess wal mart has weights but not too cheap.

  • Resistance bands are fine. Just make sure you max out at 8-10 reps. 6-8 if you want some more mass. 10-15 if you just wanna be toned.

    Yes, there are different schedules.

    Classic for most. Lean for more cardio and most women. Double for the hardcore person.

    Double has two workouts per day or more.

    I got my dumbbells from walmart. They are only 20 lbs. each but I usually max out on most exercises at around 8-10 reps.

  • I personally think a HUGE part of this program is just eating healthy. That said, no, you're gains won't be the same. But if you're even slightly out of shape and you've never taken your nutrition seriously, that alone can make a huge difference in a short amount of time.

  • Ok, so I have a question. I am 6'2" and about 170 lbs. I am a really tall, thin guy who now that I'm 35 years old has a gut and is just not in shape what so ever. Can a workout program like this work for someone who already has a very high metabolism? I'm ready to start eating right and get in shape, but I was wondering if anyone has the same build or has been able to get good results if your already thin.

  • I bet if you just eat right that gut will go away. However, if you want to get some gains and cuts, P90X is great if you don't like to leave the comforts of your own home or you don't know much about getting a routine down. It is a rocking program, except the Kenpo X. Kenpo X is a complete waste of time, I suggest finding another cardio routine for that day. That is, if you like to pretend you are learning a martial arts or if you are in a women's self defense class.

  • I agree about Kenpo. I think I'm still going to do it just to stay within the program, but I'm going to also play basketball on those days. My first time doing kenpo I broke a sweat but don't think I was really ever breathing heavy.

  • HEy Don, seriously, I was not trying to put you down. There are just so many people on here that thing the p90 is what changed their life, and its not. ITs there hard work. IF you ditch the p90 as your sole workout machine and get some free weights, bowflex, whatever, you can make some real gains. I think its awesome you took the steps to better your body. I just hope people become educated more on their diet for building muscle, and not rely on the p90 program for everything. Thats all

  • P90X is an education program. I don't do P90X everyday now, I mix weights, cardio, yoga, whatever as I need, however I couldn't have been at this point without having a good place to begin. It may not be good for an experienced body builder, but there are so many like me who knew nothing, that it is perfect for.

  • I have been lifting for 14 years actually, dude. I took 2 years off after a super bad sun burn, and I just got lazy. So, actually, I do have a little experience. I just lifting again about a month ago after my time off, and yes, its coming back fast. If you really want, will post a 90 day transformation too, but I dont want to embarass you too bad. If I were you I would get a good protein from a major brand, whey protein. Then, start a real program, not hopping around.

  • Well you see slick, I was a fat ass that had never exercised and didn't know how. I'm sure your experience sets you leaps and bounds ahead. this video was day 60, I'm on day 357 now and put the progress in this video to shame. It does however motivate a lot of people, over 70,000 by youtubes count. Go ahead put your video up big man, my next one's coming...

  • I just completed my first week and lost 11 lbs...and its not water weight...definitely noticed it in my arms and chest...more definition and I drink 1-2 gallons of water a day....great workout!

  • i finished p90x, i didnt go with diet. i ate whatever i wanted but then pushed myself to the limit for every workout. i lost 35 pounds and 15% body fat, went from 24% to 9% body fat. i dont know if its just my genes or what but i dont really think the diet plan is that critical unless you dont bring it

  • No Ididn't follow it very close - I just ate right. I stick to Miller Lite, Cabernet and Gin and Diet Tonics when I drink though...

  • i never ever eat fast food but it takes me awhile to gain muslce i have gained 7 pounds of muscle in 1 month by doing extreme cardio workouts and dumbell workouts with a series of pushups and crunches with ten minute ab workouts im seeing results but p90x really shows that you cannot plateu but the problem for me is that i do 50 reps on each arm with 20 lb weights but i cant get past the number i want to use protein suppliments but will that get me past the plateau? anyway great job!

  • Thanks for your comment! I never do more than 10 reps. I use a heavy enough weight so that I am really feeling it on the last 2 reps. the more reps you do the more lean you will become. Heavy weights, lower reps = more bulk. Good luck!

  • Damn!! it took you 3 months to get from 24% BF to 16%? I've only been cutting for 16 days and i've gone down from 22% to 18%. It's okay though as long as your're getting healthier is what counts i guess. Regardless of how fast the process takes, getting it done is what counts. Man it feels good not to have that large gut hanging off my abdomen.

  • its different for everyone. theres people who are natural freaks at 8% and theres people who could take 6 months to go from 30 to 15.

    i guess you can tell who's a real athelete and who got thin off a 90 day tv program.

  • It worked well for me but i can tell you I had a great diet and after 10 months of P90X/X+ I haven't missed a single workout. that probably has something to do with it...

  • Ok! I know exactly what you mean. I lost the same amount of weight on each of the 3 phases, but - BUT, my body didn't really change until Phase 3. The changes were dramatic in that phase and I've heard that this was true for many other people. Got to the end and if it doesn't work throw it out the window! - you won't - it will work!
