From the late 80s until early 90s she had a string of them. That's how it goes in pop music. They don't all go on forever.

There are much worse things than ripping up the picture of the pope, specifically having to go before God (whatever that means) and answer God's question: "Why do avatars of the Logos/the Word care less for the children than this beautiful prophet I sent to Earth to "whip you with many stripes"? damn I never knew that! I loved her anyways as a 16 year old back than. Just thought she was protesting against faith or the power of the church...I became a heavymetal fan when I was 13 so I thought it was cool what she did. Never knowing what she has been through. Again...without know why she did it....i was in love with her music the moment I heard her first song.
