  • i'm smoking a dooby with my 17-year old sister and i'm admiring the great progress Dr. Murray is making.

  • @SouthardJon maby you should try it?

  • Dr. "Dumbass" Murrary...admit it! You only want drugs to be illegal so that you can get your cut! Everyone knows the Federal gov't and the CIA are the largest drug dealers in the WORLD. The US does not care about human life. The US has huge poppy and pot fields in Afghanistan right NOW. Ever Heard of Iran/Contra...Bush and Clinton were huge CIA dope dealers. Read your history folks. The drug war is about racism. It is an easy way to keep poor people locked up.

  • Even the government doesn't believe in this war on drugs shit.

  • Arresting people for weed is like arresting people for breathing. Everyone does it anyway!

  • Why does the gov't call them controlled substances when they have absolutely no control over them and the situation is completely beyond their control? They are fighting an unwinnable war for it's a war on nature and nature, including the human kind, always wins. They have lost and will continue to lose and until they get over themselves and their fantasies. And they wonder why people think there's no difference between the 2 parties. On this issue they are united in their stubborn ignorance.

  • the "war on drugs" must be the most astonishing act of collective stupidity and denial in recorded history.

  • Marijuana should be decriminalised, but not legalised, and possession of small amounts of any drug should carry an instant-fine penalty. Drug TRAFFICKING should be made even more illegal than it is now. Punish those who profit from illegal drugs, not the users. As it is, prohibition of drugs just makes gangsters rich and booze/tobacco companies secure in their death-profits with their 'safe' legal poison.

  • @ProjectFlashlight612 unfortuntely I'm not sure that decrim is better than legalization and regulation - the users have to get their drugs from somewhere, after all, and when there's no legally regulated supply and distribution system (a la alcohol, which yes, can be home brewed) then the supply and distribution is automatically handled by criminals who protect with guns and who will adulterate drugs for more profits. Legalize doesn't mean it's a "free for all", despite anti beliefs about it.

  • Why should the government get to tell us what we can and cannot put into our own bodies first of all. Second of all, why are some illegal drugs (pot, mushrooms) physically safer than legal drugs (aspirin, alcohol). Third of all if the war on drugs is meant to keep us safe why do they put nonviolent drug offenders in prison around violent offenders who rape and abuse them??

  • lol considering heroin meth and crack / cocaine prices are down supplies are not hurt, and violence is escalating as prices go down due to competitiveness for the profits, and the netherlands treats drugs as a medial problem with needle vending machines and use has gone down, diseases have gone down, and violence has gone down. it will always be easier for governments to say their policy is the best way to do it rather then say we made a mistake

  • By continuing to keep these drugs illegal, we are doing nothing. We are taking the easy way out and living in a fantasy world in which nobody ever breaks the law. We give in to drugs every day we continue to prohibit them. The demand for drugs has not, and will not, go down, as long as the human race exists. For better or for worse, it's human nature to desire to alter consciousness, just as it is human nature to have sex, to get angry when provoked, or to want to know why we are here.

  • @The3rdPlateau I agree fully that we're putting our heads in the sand by keeping drugs illegal. Especially since I know that *I* have cousins who dose their babies under 2 years of age with cold medication because "they'll sleep better", which is just teaching those kids that self-medicating with more dangerous drugs is perfectly okay. All drugs should be respected, and seeking information/education should be a focus more than "it's a legal drug, it must be fine"

  • why do they say give in, it's not giving in or giving up, it's sensiable policy, it's easier for childreen to get cocaine then booze or cigarettes. regulation and control must be the new way, where there is illegal money to be made their will always be criminals. corportations and larger companies can make all these drugs so cheap that you would cripple the drug cartels and organized crime, not too mention the rising gang rate, gangs grow fast in areas because of drugs prohibition.

  • David Murray is a lying sack of shit about marijuana. The "data" he has is through kids who either have a choice to go to jail or go to a "marijuana anonymous" program for a few months. This guy has the biggest leash around his neck by the government that it is funny. I can't hear what he says without laughing. Can't wait for him to get fired.

  • "drugs like marijuana heroin and cocaine"

heroin and cocaine are noooothing like weed lol.

  • dr. murray should take a look at the stats in my home town, utica,ny heroin is an epidemic there right now.i shot up for five years, and was lucky to get out of there and get clean.if anything drug use up there is on the rise.

  • The only data to support the war on drugs is the personal pay check for Dr. Murray.

  • Illegally established Catholic gangs impose unlawful constructions, illegally continued in all courts and administrations, as house-divided-gang-farming policies, which are ALL actual violations of the commerce clauses, all applicable laws, all applicable class laws, and CBPC 17200-17220, see CBPC 17206, for city attorney liability in California, to prosecute class violations of Unfair Business Practices Law. Fatal undiscovered liabilities stem, from neglect, since 1/1/2005. 360.yahoo/bobgnote

  • The war on drugs serves only to employ law enforcement in busy-work, and private contractors that supply them.

  • Drugs are treated as an individual problem, which is why individuals are punished. They should be treated as a public health issue. Only then can we have policy that addresses the systemic issues of drugs.

  • I want to know how the federal governmet came to the conclusion that Hemp is poisonous. That is the platform they stand on to justify the murder and robbery of the Drug War.

  • i watched another doc. on the war on drugs they lied that's how it was racially motivated. In order for hemp to be poisonious you have to smoke a pound in 15 mins I think the doc. is on my favorites

  • wow so boring.

  • I say if they dont want to legalize at the very least Marijuana then alcohol and cigarettes should be prohibited. Give that a few years then the full scope of the problems of prohibition will be realized. Crime would increase, deaths as a result would increase. People would then be screaming to remove prohibition. You dont heard these career drug warriors even hint at that.

  • The War On Drugs is a dam failure

  • Please for the love of god lets all get together and stop the drug war!

  • FUCK those pigs and the DEA who is making a killing with the suffering of others, with their hypocritical self-absorbed viewpoints. Of course they would defend prohibition because IT'S THEIR JOB, nobody wants to eliminate their own job. This man probably has invested 20 years of his life exactly to that, where does legalization leave him? Useless, that's where. So you can't listen to these people. They are pigs, liars, hypocrites and criminals for what they do to people.

  • Where is the logic in this: Someone smokes marijuana. So he gets arrested and thrown into jail. So you have one more marijuana user "on the streets", and thus the "use goes down". WHAT EXACTLY WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITH THIS? So now instead of being a free man this person is living in a cage, because he smoked marijuana? Now instead of being able to be productive and do work, get educated and have a family, he is on welfare, being fed and guarded and raped in the prison? This makes no sense.

  • Meant to say "you have one less user on the streets"...

  • Drugs are not illegal because they are bad for your health. The govt doesnt give a flying fuck about your health. If the govt cared about your health, then brutally devastating drugs like cigarrettes and alcohol would be illegal. These lethal drugs kills millions every year. While the amount of death caused solely by cannabis to this date is ... zero

  • He just give the proof of why it SHOULD be legalized. If it went down, it means they weren't that interested in it! It DESTROYS because of the UNJUST LAWS! Morals has NOTHING to do with it!!! That makes me spitting mad when they accuse people of being 'IMMORAL' for taking drugs. Dirty hypocrites!

  • You cannot control individuals from doing drugs, period. Increasing penalties will not reduce the amount of dealers or users. All it will do is vastly increase the danger involved with them.

  • Not only will it do that but it has done that since its became illegal, drugs are now stronger now than before they were illegal

  • they should figure out a better way to do this but they are right it aint gonna ever stop unless every one gets their minds right and off drugs but i highly agree with both those people its a waste of money, time and effort look at freeway rickey ross not the fake ass rapper the real rick ross

  • Dr. Murry is a quack.

  • the only reason drugs are a threat is because they are illegal. The war on drugs is a never ending war. Over 35 billion dollars has been spent just this year while the national debt has grown to over 9 trillion dollars. why not reduce our national debt by taxing illegal drugs (and no i don't endorse legalizing every drug). Just a thought on reducing our debt and getting us out of this recession.

  • "Live above the influence" is a positive message. However, most kids, and indeed most people, these days are simply programmed drones of an immoral mass culture who can do nothing but submit and conform to the influence. Drug use is glorified and encouraged in the immoral mass culture, especially by your "rock stars" and "models." Go right ahead, be a moron and use drugs, sleep around, drink and drive maybe you'll end up as a martyr or on some rehab show.

  • or you might end up living a completely normal life, working, paying taxes, having a family, drug use doesn't have to impare any of these, and in the vast majority of drug users they don't

  • They've got nothing left to resort to in their ads besides "Live above the influence." They know that we've blown all their lies out of the water, and teens don't believe them. They know better. Besides, why is the gov't so intent on telling teens what to do with their bodies? Is this really a concern for their safety and health, or do they just want more power, like we've suspected all along?

  • Ethan Nadelamn blew the gov't official out of the water. The War on Drugs was a failure from the start. Nixon had a commission set up to examine what should be done about weed, and they themselves said the exact OPPOSITE of what Nixon's plans were. But, of course, like a typical politician, he ignored the experts and did what HE wanted to do because he was an ideologue.

  • The Office of National Drug Control Policy is sick. They promote a policy which has failed time and again, and they know they're on the losing end when it comes to their stupid advertising bullshit. "Above the Influence"?? WHAT influence?? No one's forcing anyone to do weed. I don't see a bunch of mobs of students pressuring their friends across the country to get high. People get high because they want to. Peer pressure is only a factor in a minority of cases, if at all. Fuck the feds.

  • i don't see y the government should stop them from killing themselves especially if they know what they inhale is gonna costs their lives. It's their choice.

  • The drug prohibition policy has failed absolutely 100%. I have been using heroin every day for about 15 years now, I come from a middle class background, work, raise a family, live in an affluent area and am in no way completely immersed in the drug trade and yet in all that time I think there has been only 1 day where I had trouble scoring! There are too many people and organisations who make a damn good living on the prohibition gravy train

  • don quijote

  • wind mill fighters ....looool!

  • The Cia is the biggest God Damn Drug Dealer on the freakin Planet period. It was revealed the CIA was caught red handed on three different occasions with C130 Military Transport Jets loaded to the hilt with bricks of Cocain.

It was in the newspapers but burried in the back of the papers. Revernd Wright was absolutly right. America is God Damned for it's murder around the world and will have a large debit of Karma to pay someday

  • And the people that did bussiness w/ them oversea r now "Terrorist".

  • that guy is full of shit thats why this country is how it is we wont do shit about it. if this was france we would allready have taken to the streets, which we should

  • The Netherlands decriminalized drugs and has resulted in many problems, especially drug tourism, drug trafficking and more potent and dangerous marijuana. Recently the Dutch have realized this and are taking steps in the right direction such as forcing coffeshops selling marijuana near schools to close by 2009. About half of all such coffeeshops are near schools which just proves that pushers/suppliers are targetting children.

  • All that may be true about the Netherlands, but what you say about marijuana, i'd say your talking out of your ass, we have the most reserched drug ever. Over thirty million Americans smoke it and not one ill effect ever recourded, so stop lieing about it you moron piece of shit, speading absolute trash about the best medicine God ever created!

  • "Dangerous marijuana"?!?

Go home, son. And god help us all if you ever decide to breed.

  • @Morality Rules....with respect you do not a clue about what you are talking about. I've been a heroin addict for 15 years & in all that time I have NEVER met a drug pusher. They just don't exist. If YOU want drugs then YOU have to go out and find them. It's a myth circulated by the anti-drugs lobby that people go around pushing drugs on kids....oh & more potent marijuana is a 'good' thing for people that like marijuana. Keep your morality for yourself and let others keep theirs.

  • No, pushers do exist. They are in schools, they are in the playgrounds, they are in many places. Perhaps you should do you and yourself a favor and go get help for your addiction.

  • MoralityRules, "push" is a misleading term. Drug dealers do not act like car salesmen. 99.999% of the time, they let people who want drugs find them through the grape vine. On the very rare and daring occasions when they actually ask a stranger if he wants drugs, which smart drug dealers do not do, they just say, "Hey, you want some of this?" If you say you don't, they walk away. "Pushing" is not the general method of selling drugs. It is a no pressure sales business.

  • These drug "sellers" are vile, violent creatures not the decent, honest, wholesome business men you make them out to be. Drug dealers do push drugs, especially targettung kids. Dealers are all around schools with candy flavored and shaped drugs.

  • A whole lot of drug dealers are bad people. Of course an underground market of banned substances is going to involve criminals selling the stuff. However, what they do in terms of selling alone is no worse than what alcohol and tobacco dealers do. For a lot of drugs, it is much more innocent. But the turf wars and such can be ended if drugs are legalized. The stuff you are saying about pushing is way overhyped by the propagandists.

  • Sorry but I just couldn't resist.Candy flavoured & shaped drugs? Are you serious? There's plenty of money to be made out of the people who actually WANT to take drugs without trying to sell drugs to people who don't want them. Honestly people like you who don't even care about the truth but just want to get their point across are what fucks this world up a whole lot more than drugs do. Morality rules.....you don't care about morality unless it conforms to your rules. Fascist.

  • All you pro-drug junkies are just apologists for the evil that are drug pushers. It may be surprise to you but new junkies need to be made to replace that old drug users who die, are killed, get locked up or reform. Just like Mattel advertises Barbie to girls in media that they know girls like and in ways that will get them to want the toy, so to are drugs marketted to people in ways that will get them to "try" it. Believe it or not, pushers are targetting kids in ways they know work.

  • "Targettung" kids. What are you, half German? Learn to spell before you try to think. And what a fucked up, ridiculous moniker "MoralityRules" is. My god, you self-righteous moral-majority nazi fucksticks are everywhere!!!

  • marijuana isnt dangerous and the more potent it gets the more you want to sit on the couch and eat chips and drink soda. potency doesnt make it dangerous. Wow thats a scarey drug, sleepy, happy, and hungry. I hope them evil pot heads never come my way. And they dont promote it for children, oh btw save the children, why isnt anyone concerened about adults anymore? its always the children? but when there not children there going to do it anyways.

  • Of course they advertise it to kids. Adults who have had a proper upbringing are less likely to get into drugs. Addiction starts at an early age which is why pushers, cigarette and alcohol companies, etc target children.

  • Explain "proper" upbringing...Oh, you mean a white, wealthy "christian" upbringing. Hahaha. Your kind is on the way to extinction. Morality and jesus won't save the world, logic will...the latter of which, you have none! Go push a bible, puke!

  • No, the people who are really dying are junkies and people with a loose sexuality. But go ahead live in self denial because you have to.

  • Really? Cause iirc, 100% of Christians and "conservatives" who don't use drugs/have unprotected sex, have died.

They live maybe a couple years longer? I'd rather die a few years earlier (say 60-65) than live a few extra years nearly blind, defecating in my bed, being spoon-fed, etc.

Not to mention having a lot more fun those 60-65 years of life that I did live.

  • Way to stereotype the elderly, television has served you well. Anyways, most drug addicts die way younger than 60-65 years of age but since you're a drug user, you probably don't care and will probably end up killing yourself when you've had all that "fun" and there is no more to be had a la Kurt Cobain.

  • Quite a blatantly contradictory post there morality... telling me I'm stereotyping the elderly and then in the next sentence telling me what I'll do since I'm "a drug user". Drug addicts (if they remain so their entire lives) mostly do die before 60. But you, as you've displayed consistently in your posts here, do not understand that you can use drugs responsibly. Not everyone who drinks is an alcoholic. Not everyone who shoots up is an addict. Your ignorance on this topic is astounding.

  • Drugs have nothing to do with morality. If that were true, Jesus would be immoral.

  • this guy can suck a fat one, where is he gettin these facts, errbody i know love weed,

  • Amsterdam legalized drugs years ago, and thought it was the right thing to do. Just recently they are starting to see the terrrible consequences of too much freedom.

But there has to be a happy medium in this somewhere.

  • uhm thats not true, there's virtually no problem with things like weed, speed, lsd, coke etc. i'm not sure why the goverment is doing this, i've lived my entire life in amsterdam and it's alway's been just fine, and besides what is going to happen when they make it all completely illegal again?

people will just continue to do whatever they want.... create a bunch of victimless criminals, that will solve something!

  • Should we put people in prison for anorexia?

  • How about they just ask Dr. Murray how the Drug War got started, and the involvement of the CIA dealing drugs to gangs.

  • Attempting to create a drug free society is an idiotic concept. Drugs will always be around whether people like it or not. The war on drugs is costly and not very effective. And while I do agree on most of what Ethan said, I believe that legalizing drugs like Heroin and Cocaine is just as idiotic as the war on drugs. These drugs ARE dangerous and DO destroy families and lives. The only drug that should ever be legalized is Marijuana. It gives the best high anyways.

  • theyre only dangerous if you dont know what your doing..

  • Cocaine and heroin are very dangerous, but the illegality of them makes them far more dangerous.

  • the war on drugs has created a nation of criminals north and south of the border. we could take those billions of dollars and build hospitals schools and rehab centers which would do far more good at stopping drug abuse. the fact that we have let this go on so long is completely unacceptable.

  • It is time to end the war on drugs. During the prohibition of alcohol people killed for alcohol. Not to mention, making it in there bathtub increased the risk of 'control'. From drinking it home made killed many people. If legalizing drugs, it will be controlled the same way as alcohol is today. From the same people who are involved with Tylonal, Advile and ect will reduce the use overdosing in controlled amounts.

  • Oh yeah asshole you all are making so much progress wait..........hold on guys as I go out an score a dime bag that I just called my friend 15 min. ago to get HMMMM.......... sure stopped me from gettin' high!

40 billon a year a counting way2go america. 70years and counting what progress!

  • The war on drugs destroys LIVES! The war on drugs destroyes FAMILIES! The war on drugs destroyes COUNTRIES!

Simple question: Alcohol prohibition was an absolute disaster and had to be repealed. Why would prohibition of the other drugs be different? Speak up.

Why should nonlethal, nonaddictive psychedelic drugs be illegal?

If you understand why alcohol and tobacco, the mass killers that they are, need to be legal, then you understand why the other drugs need to be legal.

  • (Woops. Double typo with "destroys".)

A very high percentage of murders occur as a result of addicts' doing outrageous things to get their hands on illegal drugs that cost many times more than they would if they were legal. Gang violence comes with prohibition, and a lot of death results from it. The drugs themselves are much more dangerous in illegal form. Self-destruction is a person's right. Prohibition is extremely dangerous, and it is pisses on the face of the concept of freedom.

  • agreed fully! this anti drug personal makes no sense it fills up prison, gets tax payers off the streets and drives up gov. spending! legalize hell yeah! VOTE'EM OUT 08

  • Congratulations to Steven McWilliams killed himself in the prison for his drug use of weeds.

He is now in the Heaven with the Lord and the Savior. He is very happy in the peace now.

He is set free from prison!

Please vote for Ron Paul to end the Wars on

    the Drugs.

  • no thats not his logic at all we all recognize that there is a difference between drug use and murder, you clearly don't and thats why no one agrees with you because you don't have all the facts.

  • Execute them because they might hurt themselves? That is terrible and stupid for so many reasons. By they way, do you feel the same way about the drugs alcohol and tobacco?

  • nice vid bro

    lmao

  • These goddman idiots need to be taken out and flogged, anybody who thinks like this is beyond help, for the last time the war on drugs causes 10,000 times more crimes than it solves, drug addicts arent criminals, they need our help, not fucking jail, goddamn tyrant fuckers

  • Yeeeeeeeeeeea, why don't we get drunk and screw? Thanks to the War on Drugs, we are getting quite a bit of missinformation. We have to thank the US Government for that. Thank you presidents of USA for all the misinformation you have provided us.

  • legalize!

  • What did he say marijana smokers have went down ? Is he nut's ? or just not inform.

  • I'm from the Netherlands myself. Certain kind of drugs are legal here. It works fine the way I see it. The numbers of drugaddicts are lower than in the States or most European countries. They're going down as well! Money is invested in campagnes trying to explain the dangers of drugs. In general drugs aren't seen as that cool any longer. The only negative side effect of this all are the drugtourists from abroad...

  • Sorry I hit a negative, now I don't know if I can fix it. But it does seem like europeans are handling the drug issue a lot better than we are.

  • His last line was "It's a silly disaster".

    That sounds kind of fun...

It's beyond hypocrisy that the U.S wages an international war on drugs while in the name of 'free trade' forcing Asian nations to accept billions of dollars worth of tobacco advertising under threat of sanctions. China is expected to have 50,000,000 smoking related fatalities among it's youth before 2050

  • The pro guy shot himself in the foot when he included heroin and cocaine in the "let's legalize it" claim. I once saw a girl crawl across the floor and offer a coke dealer head for coke while her boyfriend was sitting in the room. Uh, no thanks on coke, buddy.

  • Yea and throwing her in jail, instead of treating it like a medical problem would be sooo much better..

I have heard of women doing sexual acts for alcohol..

But do we arrest bar owners, and throw beer drinkers in jail?

  • Very very few people who use drugs get addicted. There is no drug that causes dependence when you try it once. Most users who try heroin find it boring, and most users who try cocaine find it's not worth it (effects last too short, etc).

Only about 0.03% of people who try drugs become full-blown addicts. And those addicts were already fucked up to begin with, spending their lives on alcohol or thrill-seeking activity.

  • Marijuana needs to be legalized. It's stupid to keep this beneficial plant illegal.

  • The whole War on drugs is just a counterproductive waste of money. Drug addicts are just that; ADDICTS. They have medical problems, not CRIMINAL ones. If you are an alcoholic, you don't get thrown in jail, you go to rehab and try to get better.

This whole idea of treating people who have medical problems and need medical solutions as CRIMINALS is ridiculous.

Glad to see more people waking up to this

  • ever heard of holland .....

  • Ron Paul will end the war on drugs.

    RON PAUL IN 2008!!!

  • this anti drug dipshit AMAZES me at how much of a dick he is.

  • I think he sums it up pretty well at the end. It's a MORAL issue, you see. They just don't like us doing drugs because according to their own, personal, subjective view and christian dogma, it's simply WRONG. Nice ad hominem argument there against drunken college students, by the way. Yeah, educated people envisioning a better world has never gotten us anywhere, right?

  • EVERY legal issue is a moral issue, dingbat. Do we favor or oppose letting people kill themselves and ruining the lives of their future generations? It's wrong BECAUSE it's dangerous. College students who are high on drugs are not educated people who will save the planet, they are narcissistic losers who will flunk out and live on government handouts for the rest of their life.

  • Not everyone are going to stay on drugs their whole lives. I have many friends who'll smoke dope or take acid one weekend then go back to their uni courses and stay clean for months.

You think they're less functional than alcoholics? Everyone can drink but not everyone loses control of it. Prohibition of alcohol was far worse.

  • And arresting someone, throwing them in jail.. and giving them a criminal record, making it hard for them to get a decent job.

Will do wonders for them and their future generations..

  • Where did you get that data from? narcissitic losers huuuuuuuuuuuuuum. You most be reading a lot of scientific journals.

  • People should go to prison for attempting suicide. Better yet, let's execute them.

  • Has anyone noticed that every Drug Czar and anti-legalization argument is based off of false premises and ignore that their own arguments against legalization apply to the current situation?

He claims these drugs destroy lives, families, etc. What is the Drug War doing? Morons.

  • The DEA depends on drugs for its very existence, the CIA depends on drugs for covert funding, and police departments depend on drugs to pay for all their toys.

Prison owners, guards and builders depend on drugs for more and more inmates.

Why do you think there are MORE and CHEAPER drugs now than when the "War on Drugs" started?

The Taliban were ending opium production, but we couldn't have that, could we?

  • One of the many things the government and religion have in common is they both do not practice or favor science. they only care about their own ideologys and conduct phoney studies where the count evidence that supports their theories and discard any other information they encounter that is inconveinent to them.

  • Mr. Murray is wrong. It's not "you will never make any progress against demand." It is that you will never make any progress against supply as long as demand exists. To focus our resources on reducing supply is a failed policy from the start. Reduce demand and supply will go away automatically.

  • According to the US government, tobacco contributed to 400,000 deaths, alcohol 100,000, and all illicit drugs 20,000.

Ban alcohol and tobacco or you have no drug war. It is all a lie.

  • Decriminalize weed ...
