Do any of you guys have also a lot of failures in this game? It keep showing bugs, like when i try too start a battle in campaign mode 8/10 in fails and return too windows witch says Rome total war(etc) shows errors, the game will be closed now.

Thats also the reason that deleted this game, i like too play this game again is defenatey the best rome total war that i played, and the most difficult.

@Dikkiheadi, yep battles last much longer and in my opinion the slower pace makes you think much more tactically. For instance holding some men in reserve so they don't get too tired.

I dealt with this battle differntly I put my enamies in side the fort and let them charge my lines while i brong men from the sides to charge them form the sides the chariots got destroyed by my spears

what do you think would have been a better counter to chariots?

solid dense masses of spearmen (phalanxes or regular spearmen)

or

loose formations of peltasts

I know that Alexander opened up his ranks and let his peltasts slaughter the Persian chariots at Gaugamela, but how would a chariot have fared if it ran headlong into a deployed phalanx? Would the horses stop? thus causing the chariot to flip over or would they run head long and sishkabob themselves?

I'm guessing that if Alexander didn't do what he did the chariots would have run between the phalanx blocks and wrecked havoc on his flanks. Horses would never run into a pike like that, hence why infantry squares were so effective in the Napoleonic wars.

Oh and solid dense masses of phalanxes are the best in the game. You need to make sure you can lure the chariots in to impale themselves.

How about regular heavy infantry and spearmen in game? How would they fare against scythed chariots if they were deployed in dense blocks vs thin lines. I'm guessing in dense blocks they can bog down the chariots with their mass and bring them down with weight of numbers, but in thin lines the chariots will tear right through them

There should be an icon on your desktop called "Europa Barbarorum Multiplayer". Use that icon if you want to have access to all the units.

Troops in mods have a ton more defense so that they last longer. Its really balanced actually and feels more realistic.

its very good, but your comp might not be able to handle it if you try. Have you tried Rome: Total Realism? Thats also a good popular realism mod but its much smaller.
