Murali had crap averages against the top nations on their pitches except for South Africa in South Africa. Basically he topped up his wickets with Bangladeshis and Zimababweans (around 160 of his wickets I believe). Until they changed the rule all of his wickets were illegal so basically he had a ripper of a wrist spin that delivered illegal results.

And if you exclude his wickets against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, he STILL has a better average than Warne. And finally, until they changed the rule, every single player was "chucking", it just wasn't noticeable to the naked eye.

@Thecheongas ICC didn't change the rule just for murali. They found 99% of all bowlers 'chuck'. McGrath and Lee had bends of over 14 degree while Murali only reported 12, that too only when bowling the Doosra.

Seeing all these comments congratulating Swanny is a bit much really... every other sport star from around the world would act the same way... it's not exactly hard to be friendly when you're not competing with each other... in actual fact, Warne, who I'm sure fits into your Aussie stereotype, is pretty good friends with Murali (more so than Swan I'd say), and would have acted the same way had he "lost". I actually thought Swan was a bit condescending to Murali... was a good watch though.
