why not save yourself alot of headaches and frustration with all these cables and guitar that seems to only work half the time...and get Rocksmith...lol
@kizza149 the key in game is the same as the key of the original song, its one way to play the song, people just usually play some of the chords in other places on the neck.
i was thinking about a thing, how about to plug in the guitar whit a Midi - jack adapter? then put the midi end into the madcat midi adapter? its was just a ide.
out of curiosity, what channels and notes does the midi box expect? i tried to make sense of the code you posted, but i guess i have no idea what it's doing.
also, does the note messages reflect tunning? or do they expect you to play every song in standard tuning?
@WirelessDreamer sorry to bother you again. i finally got my rig up and working, but i was curious if you had ANY idea how to send an overdrive signal? i can't seem to push the button on the midi box to make it work....
It doesn't look like it works all that well. Plus you'll have to get used to not seeing where you fingers are visually on screen.
But hey, its a great option if you want to use a guitar you are comfortable with and don't care too much about the game telling you that you suck even though you are hitting it.
@IMaximusDMI A real guitar doesn't have a way to track where fingers are, only what notes are played, and which strings they are play'd on. When a string is deadened and a note isn't really played, a note on event is still sent, and as no note off event is sent, the internal state machine thinks that note is still played. This is the problem that causes the view of pressed frets to be off, on the strings that aren't really used.

@Ziggerati I just updated the comments on the code, check out the current version and let me know if it makes more sense to you.

@WirelessDreamer yeah, that makes sense now. thanks!
... but it does look like they expect people to play every song in standard tuning....
Ziggerati 1 year ago
@Ziggerati The rock band controller in game doesn't actually care if the guitar is tuned, just fret position, and string being play'd

@Ziggerati the stomp button on your console midi interface box should activate overdrive.

You can hear his buddy off-camera tapping on the actual guitar hero controller.

Heh, no it's not, as a guitarist I can hear that the plastic sounds come from the pic when it hits the strings.

@asharma78901 extra movement triggered false notes, so I was trying to stay really still
