I think Randys playing on ozzys tribute album is so incredible words fail me. Amazing guitarist. Tragic loss. Far too young the boy. Great stories thankyou.
Okay, okay....I understand the message....how much for the polka-dot? Just kiddin'....you lucky bastard.....meeting up with Rhoads and all....and having that polka-dot.
@Za7a7aZThat polka dot is for sale,$35,000.99 sounds good!I dont think I'll ever sell it.I am going to shoot all the places in burbank and around here that has to do with randy, someone asked if I would do that ad put it up on youtube,so thats what I gonna do!
@mdskewes Before I went to work this morning I did some smurfing on the i-net and arrived among on things on this YT-vid of yours.....and replied. I always thought that he crashed with that plane while on his way to an appointment somewhere but today I learned that he died because of that idiot bus-driver playing dive-plane over the tour-bus. The fourth time he came too close and scaved the tourbus and crashed..killing everybody in it. What a fucking idiot.....the driver that is.
@Za7a7aZ Anyways...I see that you upped this vid some 4-5 years ago and it is still visited and active...That is good to see and know that Rhoad's memory is still alive and people want to know what kind of person he was..Thanks mdskewes
Can we hear some of the blazing technique you learned from Randy? You know, to augment the stories? I mean, give us at least 1 minute of playing for every 10 minutes of talk...
@jbryant1102 uuuuuuuuuuh I have about 200 videos of me playing my 70+ guitars!!! OK, just go to my channel"mdskewes" you can put your coursor on my name and click on it and it will take you to my channel, and then you can click on any of my videos of me playing guitar.I dont claim to be Randys star pupil, that was craig turner ,whom I also took lessons from.I knew Randy from around town more than taking lessons,I think I took about a dozen lesson's but I know his mom and sister and brother.
@jbryant1102 THIS IS PART 2-so i thought I would put this viseo up because the documenary it was for is so bad it will never be released.I was playing in band and touring, reording professionaly for 17 years, you can see those bands tooFatal Attraction I was playing Bass,Trick Or Treat I play gutar and Stiletto .I also had a Randy Rhoads tribute band that I still need to put up!hows this for a reply!
@9537912rockstar Your welcome man,I just wish the documentary was coming out,but the guy who shot it sucked and Randy's family told him "DO NOT RELEASE THIS ,IT SUCKS!"And it did, maybe someone else will do this.At least Ozzy will be releasing some real rare and good footage at the end of May!
In response to RR being a classicaly trained guitar player.
Eddie Van Halen is a classically trained piano player, a musical genious, a guitar builder/designer (changed the way guitars were designed in the 80's), had a sound that no one could replicate... but an arrogant a-hole and was never much liked... Anything after 1984, forget about it. Really two different guitar players which was good! RR was awesome as we know. Was only getting better. R.I.P
@TimeLordGuita yes, after he died I went to go see his Mom and she let me play the black Jackson! I was shaking like an idiot, all of the sudden Randy was this huge guitar hero and was not coming back so I guess it just hit me and i freaked, now he was something bigger and if I dropped that thing I would be dead!
beautiful guitars but i think jackson should have kept it with a standard fender style tremolo and harpoon headstock but i guess thats sandovals design :/ Randy is god, plain and simple!
@Boondocksaintsfan666 well, now that you ask,Ronnie James Dio was someone that I never will meet now! I saw him at the rainbow bar and grill in hollywood once, but I didn't talk to him.Damn! Oh well,He will always be one of the greatest voices in metal!
oh shit i have been playing randy stuff all the time and when ever i try to make up a solo its the style of randy rhoads i cant stop it. im going to try to make up my own style now..
How could you order a reverse polka dot flying V with a harpoon neck, (reverse meaning white with black polka dots).. and how much would it run for... 3 grand?
I'm going to put some videos up, I was in a bad car wreck back July and I have not picked up a guitar since the begining of the year.I just bought a new axe and amp and a video camera so I can start getting back into it.sooooo,I promise I will post videos of what Randy tought me and some other stuff. You can see me play if you watch the Trick or Treat videos on my youtube site but they are old and I was wasted so it dont sound so good!
its at his mom's house... ozzy told in an interview he visits her once every while and then opens the guitarcase... in that case is RR's guitar and a opened pack of sigarettes...
man i would have loved to had lessons from Randy ozzy was my 1st concert and hate to say it his last,In Knoxville ,T.N. i'll never forget it I saw him play and was in shock new I wanted to play.......then next i was in shock i've spent alot of time collecting stuff and playing his music thanxs for sharing your story......the guitar angel he will live in our hearts forever.... ..R I P Randy
dude seriously, i know people that would kill people to have met randy and heard him play one lick in the same room as them. im one of them. Your very lucky to have met him. RIP Randy
p.s im going to steal your jackson lol, just kiddin. (but i want one)
i believe ive read he was around 7 or 8 when he began playing, he started with an acoustic i believe then his mom i think got him a strat style guitar. im sure he practiced vigorously and diligently every day. but i dont know how much of that is correct
Thanks for uploading this, a shame the producer decided to not put atleast some parts of this in. I listened with great interest and learned through you from Randy while you talked what he had taught you..funny
thankyou so much for sharing this with us.....you are so blessed to have been a part of his life. I would treasure those guitars. Even though it's meterialistic ...it's something you can reflect on.
The practice amp Randy used in the "little" room was a Crate. He also had a small, early Carvin which he won in a guitar playing contest. Delores still has them in the room and still uses them. She gave Zakk Wylde Randy's stage vest (The light tan one) that he had custom made for him in Hollywood when he joined Ozzy. Cheers! R.I.P. Randy, Robbin, Kevin........
I know what I'm taking about dude.there was a few weeks in between. he wanted to come home for a bit,a he just could not stop teaching and practicing.
If ever there were a reincarnated Classical master manifested into a physical body in the modern era, Randy Rhoads would have to be that manifestation...
feel bad for u man im saving up for an eppiphone ivory les paul custom im only thirteen so its hard to save 600 buck for a guitar how old r ur polka dot v,s wish i had one
no offense dude but i have to correct one mistake. eddie van halen was trained on classical piano before he began playing guitar (at the age of 6 in holland). eddie van halen is classically influenced
I know he was trained on piano,my great grand mother knew the family back in Holland(I know that sounds crazy but it's true!)and the classical influence did come out on his solos,BUT,Randy who also played classical had a more classical style of playing overall than Eddie did with is groawling and squeling sounds plus his attack,.I don't know it is just my opinion.
yeah i get u now. he was purely self taught so his style is way different than anyone else's. but randy and eddie both understand (or understood) the concept of good tone. they just don't bang away at the guitar and say it sounds good, they actually sounded good.
Amazing stories man. You are very lucky to have been able to take lessons from Randy. He is my hero and is for many others as well. I would be interested to know what kind of guitars he used at your lessons. Did he use the Les Paul, polka dot V, or any famous guitars of his? Thanks for the great video, Ron
great video man! randy is a huge influence on me. i got a new kramer this week, ive been playing for a couple of years on and off, but a this year i started playing seriously, and started a band with my friend. i would buy a randy signature, but... im short on cash... =P by the way....did you get caught "borrowing" randy's file?
Just a question, but is that Reverse Polka Dot V to your left a GMW or some other brand? I can see there's something written on the headstock, but I can't really make out what it says. Nice video by the way, thanks for uploading it!
you are so fortunate to have been (directly influenced and "hand" taught by Rhoads.
its a testimony to his character that he came back from england and went right back to giving guitar lessons...Randy was unique in many ways it seems.very cool video w/ cool stories(i loved the bit about robin crosby <rip stopping you from stealing the crue plaque....hahahah something i probably would have done as a kid.not sure what your name is but i will call you LUCKY...very very LUCKY. : )
One more thing, if anybody has the first two QR albums from Japan, please post some songs. "We've Got the Magic" is credited just to Randy, the only song off both albums to have that distinction. I had both but they got stolen. 1 more bit of trivia, Randy used Fender medium tortise-shell picks with his name on them. I'm sure plenty remain somewhere in peoples junk drawers... RIP.
That was way too short! I could have listened to your anecdotes for longer, great tales of a great guitarist. I was outside the Glasgow Apollo, Scotland on the very 1st night Randy started touring with Blizzard, had no money for a ticket! Failed to meet Randy but met Ozzy, a big regret is that i never did get to see Randy on stage. I am taking my family to LA in July stayin at the Universal in Burbank, I would like to buy you for a beer if you'd be interested.
DUDE!!! Your so Lucky you got to meet and get lessons from Randy Rhoads I Wish i could of had that privelege. =( Poor Randy he is my hero. Can you tell me what he would tell you and how would he teach you and something you can pass on to me? please???
He didn't mention Bill Nelson's influence on Randy. Randy's solo on Ozzy's Tonight was directly taken from the outro solo of Bill's solo on Be Bop Deluxe's "Jet Silver and the Dolls". Randy did it a bit faster, I think. Randy was, and still has not been surpassed, as the fastest player ever. I consider him to be the best, and my guardian angel.
Like the way you talk about the good ol'days. Thanks for sharing your memories. You should write a book .....about....and make some money to buy some more Rhoads stuff. Did Randy had one of his guitars in that plane?
There's no Doubt in my mind, that Randy would have Left Ozzy, after the 2nd album. From what I heard Ozzy was a drunk jerk. Randy deserved a better class of musicans!!!
I think Randys playing on ozzys tribute album is so incredible words fail me. Amazing guitarist. Tragic loss. Far too young the boy. Great stories thankyou.

yeah i get u now. he was purely self taught so his style is way different than anyone else's. but randy and eddie both understand (or understood) the concept of good tone. they just don't bang away at the guitar and say it sounds good, they actually sounded good.

FireintheVoid 2 years ago
no,I did'nt get caught,I was amazed how easy i was.
mdskewes 2 years ago

parkersvx90210 what's wrong with you man?
i was just sayin' that eddie seems better to me, i didn't said randy sucks...

i wish Randy Rhoads was still alive. Then maybe I could learn some more from him because I REALLY want to play like him. That would be AMAZING!!

Did Randy had one of his guitars in that plane?
zerobubbel 3 years ago
I am writing a book.

There's no Doubt in my mind, that Randy would have Left Ozzy, after the 2nd album. From what I heard Ozzy was a drunk jerk. Randy deserved a better class of musicans!!!

I think your right!
