  • Nice saw but soon I am goeng to sell my 090 powerhead I will soon post a video also check it out when I upload it but stihl 090's are always badass saws I have four of them and use them on a daily basies so I should know 2 of them have alaskan mills on them and the other two have 45" bars on them

  • running it without a load? ok lol.... nice saw

  • I fell a lot of timber with an 090 years ago, moved on to 075's, 076's and finally 084's.

090's had 136cc engine, and were a brute, not much for anti-vibration in those days! No wonder my hands are a little stiff now......084's were my favourite ....by far! only 122cc engine but man would they cut!! Biggest improvements over the years were weight/power ratio, good anti-vibration and best of all....ELECTRONIC IGNITION!! no more messing with points...thanks for posting...pure nostalgia....

  • This saw sounds like pure sex.

  • Do u still have this Saw for sale?

  • some saws didn't have breaks both of my home lites don't have them. the worlds has changed over the years safety wasn't always a priority

  • how could you ever sell that! that saw is a legend. she is a beauty though nice saw

  • ha no chainbrake crazy man

  • Hmm.... Sword and the chain?

  • how much you asking for the chain saw

  • Hi, its been sold, sad to say. Was a very nice saw. Thanks Dave.

  • This sounds like old Vespas.

  • beast runs like a champ!

  • @GEO900RGE Private party sales are not subject to that law.

  • thats a badass saw and u know they didn't make those saws back them with a chain brake, its just like if u buy an old car they didn't come with seat belts. I bought a 048av last summer and it didn't come with a chain brake (standard from the factory)I did put one on though.

  • The 090G had the same engine as the 070, which is 106 cc. It was gear driven so it could pull the longer bars needed for cutting big tropical hardwoods. Chainbreaks were never on those 090 and 070 chainsaws. Realy wasn't needed, those machines were so heavy they didn't kick back that dangerously. I have a dolmar 7900 with a 24" bar, and that's another story. A 7900 might really surprise you cause when it kicks back you'll be amazed how fast it is close to your face. Never had that with the 070.

  • Fuckin A!!!!

  • how much are u selling it for?

  • they make good go cart engines

  • @woodyate its the same engine as the mini micro bikes as well

  • put wheels on it and ride it

  • how much are you asking for it and were is the bar and chain for it?? I have been looking for a saw of it size and would look nice next to my other saws..

  • All you idiots saying people need to be a man without the brake, stop breeding please. We have enough idiots in the world. Better safe than sorry.

  • I think that the brake is most needed for kickbacks and on shorter saws. I had a Husky 2100 that was not oiling well. It had a 3 foot bar and it kept breaking the chain while I was freehanding fencing rails. It would just shoot off to the ground at the end of the bar. It hit my leg once, but I had the pants on to protect, and it was very minor. So I don't know how bad a chain braking can be, I suppose it has hurt people in the past, just can't say for sure.

  • good for a mill , no good for free hand safety first people as we can not regrow limbs .

  • I would point out that it lacks a chain brake. I've used saws to heat my 3,000 sq ft house since 1985, and I'd never use a saw without a brake.

I've read too many USFS reports, probably. I recall a hotshot smoke jumper was cutting with a saw that should have been taken out of service. He didn't know that the chain brake didn't work. The tip of the bar caught a log behind the log he was cutting, and split his jaw in half. Serious reconstructive surgery was required.

  • well most 090's dont have them....my guess is that if you tried to stop the chain on a saw that big you would have problems...lol its too big an engine...137cc i believe...my 032 doesnt even have one...just a guard...just be a fucking man, and dont be a fucking dumb ass...keep a nice sturdy hold, and fucking look at what you are doing, and what you are going to cut before you do so.

  • yea most older saws dont have chain brakes. so what you said be a man

  • yoiu wont be saying that when you loose an arm, or a leg, or become 2 halves

  • my dad was a tree surgeon, a fucking good one, one day he came home late, after he had been to a&e, he was using a 090 with a broken chainbrake, 1 year the gash took to heal, i was 7, how do u think i felt, just to point out, he was a bloody good arborist and tree surgeon

  • I have never seen an 090 WITH a chainbrake, and I don't think they EVER had them, from my research anyhow. I have one that is one of the last ever made, and it just has a hand guard up front. Dave.

  • @thechainsawguy True. I think Armyboy is talking shit. I have never known of an 090 with a chain break. The 090 is a collectable it seems these days. I run a partnership Arborist buisness and my buisness partner is looking to pay good money for an 090. Not to use, just to have. I see the value in them. Nothing like this will be made again it seems.

  • @TheGusto69 Yes, the 090 NEVER had a chainbrake. I have had about 20 of them now. I have another one, its one of the last ones and it only has the hand guard, but no braking set up. Its really the short saws that need the chainbrake anyway, for the short quick kickbacks. Dave.

  • my chain saws chain brake has been broke for a few years now and nothins happened to me

  • my saw dont have one

  • What exactly does gear driven mean as opposed to other saws? Nice saw by the way.

  • the saw has a gear box on it the other ones are derect drive

  • sale me your chainsaw

  • I hae never heard of Stihl haveing a gear driven saw before. Lean something every day.

  • @zimdogg4 Up until the early '50s essentially ALL chainsaws had reduction gearing between the crank and the drive sprocket. There was an evolutionary process, going from heavy, 2-man motorcycle-engined monsters with huge bars and very large pitch chains (modeled on 2-man crosscut saws) to the current generation.

  • This a saw mill saw, for lumber.

  • this video reminds me of my videos!!1 2

  • How do you determine what bar can go on a saw? I have a Stihl 16" 028AV without a manual. Can I put any bar chain combo on the saw?

  • I wouldn't go over 16 inches with that saw. Thats a fine saw as well. Probably the best saw ever made in it size range. Its a lifetime saw as well. If you bought one of those when you were say 30 years of age and used it to cut a few cords a year for the home you could certainly still be using it when you were 70. Had one 028 super, cut hundreds of cords with it until AV mounts fell apart, had those replace and just kept on cutting. Never a hard start. Unreal machine.

  • What bar/chain goes on that beast?

  • Since its a gear drive, the best bar is four foot and more, with full house chain. A three foot bar is minimum, maybe milling up hardwoods. A regular 090 is faster than the gear drive, but only up to maybe a 4 foot bar. Then the gear drive is best. I got this saw with a 52"bar, it looks very intimidating. I am selling it on ebay with a 3 foot bar.

  • would you even buy a craftsman? just for trimming branches around the house? thats what i did. boy , what a piece of crap. i dont know much about saws; it just seems the saw doesnt rev high enough.

  • No, I would go with a Stihl 017 for something like that. Cheap and a pretty good saw. Dave.

  • thank you.

  • What did it sell for assuming you sild it ?

  • Yes it Sold, close to 2 thousand, to a timber frame company, this saw was in very nice shape.

  • Myne is not the geared model but has only been used two times. Is it worth more as a collector's item at this time or does it have just as much value as a tool for actual use ?

  • The value is for both as a tool and collectible. They are getting rare, and they work great for slabbing big trees. The nicer they are, the better money they bring.

  • want to buy ph no 0415124794 sydney

  • 131cc 13hp ITS A BEAST!!!

To bad its not made anymore

  • Where areyou n how much?

  • e-bay
