When others are confined to a sound insulated, climate controlled cubicle on the 30th floor of a nondescript office building surrounded by people who kiss ass, smile at them & stab them in the back you are at a time when you are strong & on the edge of life. When the decisions you make mean life or death. A time when you are the best you can be at what you do. When what you do means something unlike those cubicle monkeys and office geeks, you have lived life to the fullest. No regrets my brother
If you mean giving up personal freedom and putting your life in the hands of the men you serve with, you're right. It is a great sacrifice but it is likely the most important job you will ever do. It is being part of something that is bigger than yourself. It is having a life experience that will follow you the rest of your life. It requires courage, self sacrifice and a love of country. It is why we do what we do and why we are who we are. Its not for everyone.

@Slurrps No, 13F's go way more in depth with Call for Fire. 13F's learn artillery, mortars, cas(jets), cca(helicopters), and naval gunfire. 19D's and 11B's may know mortars or artillery but they wont be very good at it and will hardly ever do it. That's why 13F is the fire support "specialist".
@SaiVihtooMyint It's the 13F that has a clearance, I don't know about the cannon cocker. When I did it 20+ years ago, we got intelligence reports and other information that was classified as "SECRET". The 13F doesn't physically "use" a Howitzer.
So the military is NOT the real world? What the hell is the real world?? Get up, go to work from 9-5, come home and maybe go somewhere for the night then repeat? If thats the real world, then the real world is boring as hell. I'll stick to my combat medic job in the fake world.
@AtomicStarBurst In the real world, you don't get publicly humiliated and possibly fired for being overweight. In the real world, you don't treat, respect, and address certain people because of a stupid fucking velcro patch on their uniform that really just means what they can do and how much money they make. In the real world, you can tell someone to fuck off and not be in the front leaning rest for it. In the real world, you are given the choice to use common sense and YOUR own values.
@69in89 Yeah, I certainly love how the military has higher standards. Your comment proves my point more and more. You know why the military doesn't encourage YOUR own values? Because YOUR own values will either get you killed or the man next to you killed. Go to Afghanistan, THEN you can say you experienced the real world, because in the REAL world there are these people called Terrorists, and these Terrorists don't like you 69in89. In the "REAL" world they want you dead. Enjoy your bias world.
@AtomicStarBurst I'm not your typical, angry person who didn't make it past BCT or MEPS or for that matter. I'm a Unit Supply Specialist in a Air Defense Artillery Unit in Fort Bliss, Texas. Maybe because I was sent to such a shitty unit that's beyond a joke, and deployed with them to saudi arabia and Iraq within the last 4 years, that's possibly why I have the views I have today. Don't get me wrong, it's a real honor to do we what do, I just don't like it how the military treats us as property.
@69in89 I understand. Its not always easy, and its true that some Units are better then others. Just remember that your a Soldier and that you can't let the hard times get you down. Getting done what needs to get done is not always fun, and believe it or not, being with an Infantry Unit is not always fun. I'm a medic and I'll be honest, I get scared to death sometimes when we're out in the fight. But I do it to defend not only my country, but my family and their way of life.
@AtomicStarBurst The real world is having personal and social freedoms, being able to travel at will and live where you please, and to change professions and pursue economic interests instead of being tied to the same low payscale for eternity. That is why I am getting out of the Army when my contract is up and finishing college.
@Jagdstahl You obviously did not join the army for the right reasons. I joined the army because its what I wanted to do since I was 15. I love it and wouldn't give this life up for anything. But if you would rather go have a nice job in the civilian world and pursue your dreams and goals there, then that is cool too. Best of luck to you man, and thanks for the time that you did serve.

Just means that having this MOS WILL NOT help you in the real world. They don't do this in the real world. Same goes for combat related jobs as well as many others. Just saying...
@69in89 there truely isnt anything you can take from your ait to the real world unless you can find a good job that has alot to do with map reading, but what you learn outside of ait is crucial, like what you learn at pldc cause 13f is one of the fastest promoting mos in the army and also the other classes and courses you take while in garrison!
im thinking about enlisting again but as this MOS. i was trainign to be a scout last time, but shit happens & i choosen to come back home .. i need sum inside info on the daily routine during AIT for 13F ... do we get to keep phones & laptops ? cuz at knox we didnt
@tru6luaCe666 Knox fucking sucked, I went there as a Tanker now they are saying I've got to reclass when I reenlist but they will let me reclass as a Scout and waive the training. Fuck that, I'm going pogue.
@tru6luaCe666 i can tell you that 10 years ago you didnt keep that crap in ait! i hope they still dont need our soldiers payin attention in class not worryong about the latest post on facebook, fisters all the way!
So I take it this is a MOS that is good if you want a good balance of working with technology/intelligence and being on the front lines as an infantryman?
I retired as 13F40H and I do not recall that many negros in my classes or in the field. Being in FIST is a very demanding job. Your first in for a Ranger tab or going to SFAS. Its a hard job but its the best job!, you can bring down a world of hurt all on your command!
I ship June 5th to Fort Jackson and I'm not nervous about BCT or AIT. The thing that I am worried about is if I will enjoy this job or not. I have read alot of mixed reviews on this MOS from viewer comments on this video. I'm confused now because some people said that it's a boring job and some others have said it's exciting. If someone would like to tell me their experiences with this MOS good and bad, I would love to hear it, thanks.
@tynanb1 I did it for 7 1/2 years. It was good back before the whole "war on terror" now days the Army doesn't use its FISTERS for artillery operations. They use them for any and all things the manuever units don't want to do IE: all the bitch details.
I've been in all three major jobs as an FISTer. Line FO, COLT, and TOC Bitch. I gotta say even after all the humping, no sleep and lack of respect from others, I would do it over and over again. I love being a FO and when you do get your chances to CFF it makes all the BS worth it. There is no feeling like a A-10 Warthog going over your head about to stall and seeing the death and destruction that it causes. To piggy back on Coyote46n your also not a GD RTO.
I just retired a year ago medically after a doozy in Iraq. But ive deployed to Bosnia, Kosovo, Afgan and Iraq. Definatly not for the week hearted. Dont expect to get the chance to call for fire in Iraq, maybe some illum here and theres about it. Afgan, if your a COLT like I was there or line FO for a platoon of Inf, you'll most likely get the opportunity, but word of the wise for the line FO, when you work with the infantry, YOUR AN FO, NOT AN INFANTRY MAN!!! Put your foot down!!!

It is not a 'war' its a an act of grand theft by a corrupt NWO bunch of International well established -Satanic/-Iluminati bankers, slughter of farmers and peasant families that could not afford an air fare..... another vietnam! Presidents are puppets to the MASONIC Shadow government soildiers are brainwashed fools!
85% OF the herion in Afgan is flown out in american planes directed by the CIA- fact... its all over the internet !
@bigcoolviking and its 95% of the worlds opium is produced there....it used to be made in Southeast Asian in the 1950's, 60's and 70's...kinda weird where ever our military is all of the sudden opium plants grow...maybe the exhaust from the vehicles makes it grow
ARMY people are big time under paid. Over the years their rank structure has been made a mess of too. There are way, //way//, *WAY* too many officers! The number of officers ought to be lowered down to 25% of where it is now. That thing about veterans being sought after in the civil labor force was not true in the early 1990s, and I have no reason to suspect that it is true now.
I just got out of the Army last March. I was a 13 Fox for 7 years and 7 months I went in as an E-1 private and left a SSG. Did three tours in Iraq all with 1CD 2BCT and I have to say this MOS WAS a good MOS back before 2005. Before then 13F were still with the Artillery BN not the maneuver. Now days they are the bitch boys for their maneuver units and don't even do Artillery shit anymore they do every bitch detail the maneuver unit can find. The Infantry don't want them
well im confused, i have this mos but for basic im being sent to fort jackson then sill for ait, but everyone else is gettin basic at sill, is this some kind of mistake?
@reaperhunter18 basic is basic the Army use to send MOS recruits to the designated TRADOC bases however they changed b/c sometimes you have ten 13foxes going say "next wednesday" but only 9 slots well instead of telling you you can ship out in two months they go ahead and send you to fort jackson then spend the money to fly you from jackson to fort sill for AIT it's no different other than jackson is easier alot easier
@reaperhunter18 no problem, however not only do I advise this MOS being obsolete, but also try to find a MOS that is tecnhically parell to the employment sector in which you wish to presure. However if you plan on making the Army a career even with the "set backs" this MOS is the best one to go, you will become profecient in all crafts "well sought after" in the Army. Take some time and think about what you really want in life, how far you want to go in the Army, etc...good luck!
@ryambo8713 dude marines and army all have the same jobs, the army has more jobs than the marines but pretty much they are the same. an army infantry man and marine infantry man would have the same stories. an army desk clerk and a marine desk clerk would both be on the same level with eachother.
i got the 25S satellite communications MOS. ship of 20110627. cant wait, im also a senior in high school in the delayed entry porgram so i get a bonus for every month not much-100 bucks but i gotta wait 8 months so not bad. good signing bonus too. this job looks fun, i wanted to have a combat arms job but i also wanted a good paying MOS so i stuck with 25S. My basic is in North Carolina
@TheIndio214 dont stress over it, the first time you get on the hill, it will all come together for you...just keep your head in the game and if you have fun with it, you will go a long way...
@TheIndio214 dont stress over it, the first time you get on the hill, it will all come together for you...just keep your head in the game and if you have fun with it, you will go a long way...oh and as far as taking this MOS into the civilian side of life...try putting " i blow stuff up " on an application, J/k...from one "FOX" to another...good luck. "eyes of the battlefield"
@mori1541 This MOS is as worthless as tits on a bull in the civilian world. I had to use all that intell shit they had the Fisters doing to help my resume hold anything. UAV's have eliminated the need for it. Plus we don't drop bombs anymore we give away money to the terrorist.
@TheIndio214 Yes, as a 13fox for 7 and a half years I would say "Don't do it!!!" You will hate it. I promise you you will not do the stuff in the video anymore after basic training. Go infantry 11B and I promise you will always do your job you were trained to do.
Enlisted yesterday and got this MOS i know that my basic/AIT will be in fort sill but does anyone know where my permanent duty station would probably be????..... Not to mention that i will also be attending airborne school right after AIT..
@ITZsitva954 not 4 a while I go to basic on July 6th on the delayed entry program but this one guy i know is going in the middle of march i am guessing that the dates depend on when your available to ship out .... that sux that they BS`ed u into an MOS. which one did they put u in
@DQO91 i originally wanted to do infantry but they wouldnt allow me to cuz im not 20/20 with glasses on which pissed me off cuz im 20/25. so da counselor at MEPS told me bout c21 bridge crewmembers n told me its a combat job and buncha other load of shit but i can just go in and get eye surgery and switch to infantry 2 years after which im still going to do, but then i found out bout this MOS afterwards. it even pissed off my recruiter
@TeflonBTM Are you going to fort sill ? if so ill see you there. you should send me an email or something and get in touch. its always nice to know someone at basic. natelandaas@gmail.com
THIS WAS MY FIRST MOS WHEN THE ARMY WAS A ARMY NOT OF THE ARMY NOW. CAN'T BELIEVE HOW TRAINING BECAME A JOKE BECAUSE OF LOWER STANDARDS. I WAS A FO FOR 4 YRS IN A LRSD UNIT AND I HUMPED AND JUMPED WITH THE BEST OF THEM. AND YES I CAN SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY WITH 19YRS IN
@EvX03 Get your mind right, fucktard...a 13Fox is not a POG. You'll learn that when you're outgunned and praying your FO can call in a fire mission and take out the people that are trying to kill you. The 13Fox will be your best friend, then...
@EvX03 WAAAIT. A pog? Since when are 13F pogs? Im pretty sure they do ALL THE SAME SHIT INFANTRY DOES AND MORE. Infantry are dime a fucking dozen. Do you know what a 13f is? Its an EDUCATED grunt...thats what a 13F. 11B means you probably did horrible on the Asvab.
If you plan on being sucessful in this MOS you need to study. Not only your job, but maneuver as well. Also need to know all weapon systems. Stay focused and work hard. There is a very fast promotion rate in our MOS. Ensure that you can STUDY and Memorize, otherwise you will be in the TOC lol. Other MOS like to talk trash but they know in the end that they cannot do our job. And for that 13B, you probably barely passed your ASVAB and that is why you are a 13B.
I'm a Fister about to deploy to the middle east with a tanker unit. Best MOS out there! You all will have a blast and when your contracts up you will have a lot of job opportunities if you choose to leave.
@honestxvirtue Don't be. Basic's a breeze and really you just have to have a selfish attitude about it. Be personally motivated to do you're best, but don't show it and just have a relaxed quiet outward attitude. Basic is fun as hell, AIT is awesome cuz even though you're still in training you get the weekends off and can go out around Fort Sill or just stay in and play xbox or on your laptop, playin online and all that. Training is what ya make it, it's fun as hell
@aztaloz101 You get weekends off at Ft. Sill??? WTF??? XBOX??? Back when I went through, we had this little thing called OSUT. It was 14 weeks of basic. No privileges in AIT. That's ridiculous.
@USFISTER theres no way to tell man. im a 13f and i went to airborne and got 41 clubbed. dont be surprised when the army dicks you over man it's bound to happen. after airborne you will prolly go to campbell or bragg, but like i said, you never know.
ya when i signed up in 2006 they had no infantry positions at the time which was awkward but they said this was the next best thing. so i said hey lets go 4 years then... big mistake...more boring MOS ever guys
It's not always as clean as this, men. I recently retired from the Army as a 13Fox. It is hard, dirty, exhaustive work. SlyNicolai is exactly right, you will eat, sleep and dream 11Bravo. Not that that's a bad thing, it just takes a LOT of mental toughness. You will bake, freeze, be deprived of sleep and then you will be expected to think and calculate. You better be able to put a refrigerator on your back and hump it to China to keep up with them. If I haven't discouraged you...GodSpeed.
@mundrubjet i retired from the Army as a 13F and your right... 13F is no joke kiddies. you need to be great at math and also deal with the crappy weather at Ft. Sill!! thank god i went to 3ID i miss my BFIST!!!!!
@mundrubjet: Man's right. I'm a Fire Support Specialist now. It's hard work, and you won't be calling for fire after AIT until you're probably an E5. You'll be doing grunt-work, like Commobitch, wheel jockey or machine gunner.
@Paintbait I called all kinds of fire missions from E2 to E4. I'm an E5 now and my PMOS is still 13F, but my DMOS is 38B, so I don't get to anymore.
If your unit does gunnery field exercises, then you should be calling for fire missions, because all the batteries have an allotted number of training rounds to shoot.
@mundrubjet you retired 9 months ago? Well you should know that almost if not 90% of 13Fox junior enlisted and officers will be tasked with anything from infantry manuaver to TOC duty. As for "keeping up with the infantry" I found myself and my Soldiers being tasked with everyting the company's MTOE requires that the CO didn't want to task to the maneuver platoons.LOl but that was a mech. infantry co. in 1CD, if you were in a light unit (before 2005) then it was gravey, now...just detail
im a 13f going to fort leonard wood april 13 for basic then fort sil for ait. im sooo pumped for training if anyone is going to leonard wood the same date as me hit me up my phone num is 310 902 8059 send me text or something
I leave on the 12th of april and for Basic I am going to Missouri and for AIT i'm going to Oklahoma. Where are you gonna be stationed? who knows volwrath12 we might meet up or just pass each other and not know it! LOL!!
Im hoping to join the Army out of high school and I know I would score well on the ASVAB for this but I would need to get in shape. Sounds physically demanding and im not a big guy. I hope I would make it
Okay...for all the guys watching this who are bout to enlist as a 13F, look closely at the first guy using a compass. He's using it with a friggin' radio on his back. This will cause the compass to malfunction, resulting in an incorrect reading. Way to go.
I was a 13F in the 82nd Airborne, 319th AFAR HHB DIVARTY attached to the 3/73 Airborne Armor. It was a very interesting job and working witht he Cavalry Scouts in their Sheridans was a good time. Living in the 319th HHB Barracks was a blast, we tormented all the HHB weenies day and night.

I retired as 13F40H and I do not recall that many negros in my classes or in the field. Being in FIST is a very demanding job. Your first in for a Ranger tab or going to SFAS. Its a hard job but its the best job!, you can bring down a world of hurt all on your command!

vbailey24 11 months ago
I ship June 5th to Fort Jackson and I'm not nervous about BCT or AIT. The thing that I am worried about is if I will enjoy this job or not. I have read alot of mixed reviews on this MOS from viewer comments on this video. I'm confused now because some people said that it's a boring job and some others have said it's exciting. If someone would like to tell me their experiences with this MOS good and bad, I would love to hear it, thanks.
tynanb1 1 year ago
@tynanb1 I did it for 7 1/2 years. It was good back before the whole "war on terror" now days the Army doesn't use its FISTERS for artillery operations. They use them for any and all things the manuever units don't want to do IE: all the bitch details.
palehorseridder 10 months ago

@coyote46n I did 2 tours in Iraq and called for fire both times. It just depends where in Iraq you are!!

The Infantry don't want them
palehorseridder 1 year ago
well im confused, i have this mos but for basic im being sent to fort jackson then sill for ait, but everyone else is gettin basic at sill, is this some kind of mistake?
reaperhunter18 1 year ago
@reaperhunter18 basic is basic the Army use to send MOS recruits to the designated TRADOC bases however they changed b/c sometimes you have ten 13foxes going say "next wednesday" but only 9 slots well instead of telling you you can ship out in two months they go ahead and send you to fort jackson then spend the money to fly you from jackson to fort sill for AIT it's no different other than jackson is easier alot easier
palehorseridder 1 year ago
@palehorseridder ok thanks, and i cant wait to leave!
reaperhunter18 1 year ago
@reaperhunter18 no problem, however not only do I advise this MOS being obsolete, but also try to find a MOS that is tecnhically parell to the employment sector in which you wish to presure. However if you plan on making the Army a career even with the "set backs" this MOS is the best one to go, you will become profecient in all crafts "well sought after" in the Army. Take some time and think about what you really want in life, how far you want to go in the Army, etc...good luck!
palehorseridder 1 year ago
so this is more draining than being a marine?
ryambo8713 1 year ago
@ryambo8713 dude marines and army all have the same jobs, the army has more jobs than the marines but pretty much they are the same. an army infantry man and marine infantry man would have the same stories. an army desk clerk and a marine desk clerk would both be on the same level with eachother.

@mori1541 This MOS is as worthless as tits on a bull in the civilian world. I had to use all that intell shit they had the Fisters doing to help my resume hold anything. UAV's have eliminated the need for it. Plus we don't drop bombs anymore we give away money to the terrorist.
palehorseridder 1 year ago
@TheIndio214 Yes, as a 13fox for 7 and a half years I would say "Don't do it!!!" You will hate it. I promise you you will not do the stuff in the video anymore after basic training. Go infantry 11B and I promise you will always do your job you were trained to do.

@EvX03 Get your mind right, fucktard...a 13Fox is not a POG. You'll learn that when you're outgunned and praying your FO can call in a fire mission and take out the people that are trying to kill you. The 13Fox will be your best friend, then...
mundrubjet 1 year ago
@mundrubjet You are god damn right. 13F or 68W or any other ground mos that are with 11B are not POGs
Hooahgoarmy 1 year ago
@EvX03 WAAAIT. A pog? Since when are 13F pogs? Im pretty sure they do ALL THE SAME SHIT INFANTRY DOES AND MORE. Infantry are dime a fucking dozen. Do you know what a 13f is? Its an EDUCATED grunt...thats what a 13F. 11B means you probably did horrible on the Asvab.
Hooahgoarmy 1 year ago
If you plan on being sucessful in this MOS you need to study. Not only your job, but maneuver as well. Also need to know all weapon systems. Stay focused and work hard. There is a very fast promotion rate in our MOS. Ensure that you can STUDY and Memorize, otherwise you will be in the TOC lol. Other MOS like to talk trash but they know in the end that they cannot do our job. And for that 13B, you probably barely passed your ASVAB and that is why you are a 13B.

If I haven't discouraged you...GodSpeed.

nucence258 1 year ago
@mundrubjet: Man's right. I'm a Fire Support Specialist now. It's hard work, and you won't be calling for fire after AIT until you're probably an E5. You'll be doing grunt-work, like Commobitch, wheel jockey or machine gunner.
Paintbait 1 year ago
@Paintbait I called all kinds of fire missions from E2 to E4. I'm an E5 now and my PMOS is still 13F, but my DMOS is 38B, so I don't get to anymore.
If your unit does gunnery field exercises, then you should be calling for fire missions, because all the batteries have an allotted number of training rounds to shoot.
USFISTER 1 year ago
@mundrubjet you retired 9 months ago? Well you should know that almost if not 90% of 13Fox junior enlisted and officers will be tasked with anything from infantry manuaver to TOC duty. As for "keeping up with the infantry" I found myself and my Soldiers being tasked with everyting the company's MTOE requires that the CO didn't want to task to the maneuver platoons.LOl but that was a mech. infantry co. in 1CD, if you were in a light unit (before 2005) then it was gravey, now...just detail
