  • if you don't care that your pump is oversize then you don't care about your energy bill.

  • @cpatlynch Sorry, it's not over sized. Thanks for commenting. ☺

  • As a professional pool guy--that filter can take up to a 2hp motor. His REAL problem is he has an OBSOLETE HAYWARD pump, and to my experience, all hayward stuff

    is CRAP.

Next--you can turn that dial valve clockwise or counter clockwise. That type dial valve/multi port valve, should only be turned clockwise.

The reason, forcing it both ways will cause the gasket underneath to pop up

and potentially drain your pool thru the backwash line

  • @Toners777 Yes, it can take up to a 2hp but it was not necessary to circulate the water well enough.

You haven't convinced me that turning the valve any direction causes problems. I'll let you know when you get it correct. ☺

  • this gut doesnt need to be making any pool videos ..for one you dont roate the multivalve either direction clockwise or you will be wondering why is there water coming out of my baclwash line..lol look at all the rust in the skimmer id say bad water chemistry

  • @whatsmyname252 Thanks for your opinion. ☺

  • so do i its not oversized at all

  • @thebald1979 Not the one in this video. I would consider anything more than 1.5 hp to be oversized for the filter. See other response for oversize issues.

  • "Pump motor is way too oversized " Who gives a rats a**? Does the water get worn out by being filtered to much?

  • @Gunflintwoodshop Interesting point of view. No water won't get "worn out" but, if a pump is too powerful for the size plumbing it could promote leaks, and for a sand filter it could cause "channeling" where the water flow parts a gap in the sand bed. This condition would cause a filter to operate poorly.

  • Pump motor is way too oversized

  • @lukepools I disagree
