  • Is there any settings to adjust iso/noise during low-light video recording on this camera?

  • @henke9100 no

  • @djandreaa

That's probably the fastest answer I've ever go, haha. Know anything about the sequel, a35?

  • @henke9100 no but nex-5 is best in video mode or nex-5n best with 50p! ;)

  • @djandreaa

Problem with those are the size, I'm going for an at least, DSLR-like body. Better buy a Canon then, haha ;).

  • Lordavius is also correct about being able to over/under expose in movie mode. You have to switch your lens to manual focus and the dial to A. I got my a33 today and apart from it being a bit small in my hand so far I am very impressed.

  • Lordavius is correct. You can adjust the exposure compensation while shooting a movie.

  • @a1mint if you set an aperture to 22 it doesn't mean your image will be dark, it depends on other factors such as ISO, shutter speed, environment illumination, etc.

  • @a1mint if you take the camera manual for a spin you can read that the aperture CAN be fixed for video recording. Refer to it and maybe things will be clearer for you.

  • @a1mint

Look, I'm not talking about something I saw or read somewhere on the internet, I'm talking about something I DID. You can overexposure or underexposure a video with the method I described with a fixed aperture.

  • what is it about the camera that u dont like.... the bad points i mean

  • @digitalwolves

I would say, no manual movie function.

  • @boristrap You can set the focus to manual, and you can set the white balance for video. But you can't control the aperture or speed, because it always sets it so that it produces the best quality video at all times.

  • @a1mint Not true, in the manual of the camera it instructs you how to set the aperture and speed for movie recording. Basically you set the dial to A, choose your aperture, turn off AF and you're good to go.

  • @lordavius Wait. You can control the aperture in movie recording when AF is set to manual? That I got to try!

Trying trying, NOPE! You can set the aperture alright, but the moment you start the movie, the movie looks as bright as it could no matter how much you close the aperture up.

All talk has been that movie mode does NOT let you control aperture or timing on the Sonys.

    So, you were wrong.

  • @a1mint What I said is correct.

Now I see you're confusing Aperture to Exposure. To control your exposure you have two options:

    1 - While recording, press the +/- button and set the exposure compensation you want;

2 - Press Menu, set AEL to Toggle, set the dial do "A", choose your aperture (f-stop)l, set focus to Manual, point the camera where you want the exposure locked, press AEL, press Record. While recording you can even select other areas to control your exposure (brightness for you).

  • @lordavius The exposure compensation feature we haven't talked about yet, let's set that aside for a second and focus on whether you can set the aperture during video or not.

When I set the aperture to 22 (smallest hole), set manual focus, AEL toggled mode, enable AEL (showing the *), the moment I start recording video, I can clearly see video. Had the aperture truly be at 22 I would have seen nothing but darkness.

All this accomplishes is set the exposure lock, no real control over aperture.

  • @lordavius Thanks for trying though. But no, the aperture really can not be directly controlled in movie mode. The moment the movie starts, the internal computer takes over and make the decision as to what aperture it ends up using. It, along with speed, will set to try to get the exposure right, or fix it to the exposure you locked it at. But that does not mean that for instance you can set the A to 8. The moment video starts, the computer will set it to whatever it wants to set it to.

  • @lordavius Thx man! You right, I know how to adjust aperture for video now, I think the feature only available for AM mode, when switch to AM mode, than press AEL button, use wheel to adjust the aperture, if F = 36 than the video will be very dark!, when F = 6.5 the video will become brighter, thx!

  • What is the lens you used ?

  • @toxotis70 18-55 kit

  • Looks great, thanks for uploading!
