Alaska gets annexed forcefully by Russia while the other major regions of the US all become independent nations. Later in the game, the faction that re-unifies the 48 continental states has to go to Alaska and free it from Russian occupation.

The original Ghost Recon game depicted a new USSR attacking the independent nation of Georgia, the former Soviet Republic, in 2008 and ultimately starting a full-scale war in Europe. The state of Georgia in the USA is not the Georgia that is attacked.

Shattered Union can be played on a PC or that vidya game Xbawks. Buy a copy sometime- it is a very well-made and enjoyable game.
