No, none of the games work that way. In order to 5* a song, you need to have a score equal to or higher than the score of all the notes in the song hit with a *2 multiplier. In other words, you need double the base score of all notes in the song for a 5*. Star Power helps with this indirectly as it doubles your multiplier, but has no direct effect on actually getting the 5 stars. 4* works the same way, but with a *1.8 multiplier instead of *2.

it depends on your score. theres this website that i went to (that i cant remember now) but it showed you how many points you needed to 4 or 5 star each song. it varies with each song. just google it, i would say...
i think they should judge buy performance, not appeal...it would be more fair like that..because they always do shitty when they have to please the judges and the crowd with moves...thats not what guitar hero is about...
what they should do at WSVG next time is instead of making them play songs and have judges judge them, play 3 rounds of pro face off. one person chooses first song, 2nd person chooses 2nd song, and the host or w/e chooses the third song, if they get there. it seems so much more fair

Playing against and audience is so much harder than sitting down and playing at your house with some friends, so obviously priest isn't gonna have his best game, but still hes one of the best gh players in the world.
The judges are looking for not just playing ability, but also style. He made it seem like it was an actual rock concert, though I think he got ripped off of a 30 by that last judge with the 7.
Also, people need to stop complaining. It's just a game. Playing GHII or any game is just pure amusement, and being good at that game makes it even more fun at times. Stop complaining about this >_>.

well, take into account that's it's one run. on your feet trying to play it with style. it's not like we've been playing it up until now: sitting and resetting over and over again for the best runs.
My point is not that the score is unexpectedly bad, my point is that the score does NOT deserve a 10. Yes, it's understandable that one may have to sacrifice quality of play for showmanship, but that should obviously be reflected in the scoring. I'm not making a hit on Priest here, he's a wonderful player and could kick my ass anyday--but the fact that he's forced to get mediocre scores but is rewarded with perfect 10's for them anyway is just sickening to me.
