Actually having two high capacity sticks is better than four low capacity. You can overclock higher with two because its less load on the memory controller having to manage only 2 sticks vs. 4.
did you have to cut out an extra hole in the case for the water block? I have the same case, mobo, and 9800GX2 and I wanted to put in a thermaltake 760i big block water cooling for my Q6600 but, don't know if it will fit?
Unless you meant something else you dont need any speacial arrangements to mount the cpu waterblock.
My antec 900 came with two holes in the back for water tubbing but I used them to mount the reservoir. Older antec cases have a grill mesh there tahn can be used the same way. Check out the rest of my vids. Ill post a new video later on tonight,
I have a 6800 Ultra atm, and I'm getting a new computer. I might aswell get the 9800gx2, because well, there's no point in buying an 8 series for my situation.. because well, the 9 series is out now so :/
9 series cards are exactly the same chips as 8 series, its only the number on the box, and a slight clocking difference (one u can easily do yourself) and ofcourse the price hike that splits them. E.g 8800GTS is exactly the same as the 9800GTX.
Id actually recomend golding off on this 9800 series. The 9800GX2 will be dead by the end of third quarter when the 9900GX2s with real next gen chips are released.
I got these for benchmarking purposes. Theyre really not cost effective in the long run. I will more than likely be getting rid of them in 3-4 months.
Ive done my reasearch. Not that much of a difference...9800gx2 = fail, just like 7900gx2. What i mean is that you should wait a couple of months before getting one of those, more stable cards etc.
Well GPUs with 2 cores are pretty rubbish on games that arn't SLi enable them games only use one of your two cores and at the moment the each cores power is that of a GPU from earlier series.Hope that helps.:)
First things are never good! They are better but not for that money.Next gen. of x2 will be cheaper and for more than 30% better (at least). So i'll wait too.
hey man nice vid!
i plan on doing something similar but
where are your hard drives?

Can you send me some pics of how u mounted the radiator? I'm getting my kit soon and I might mount mine in front.

Nice rig bro, only thing I would change is 4 x 1 gb ram instead of 2 x 2, works faster! ;)

waterblock? Waterblock = CPU block...

What's the point of having watercooling in an antec nine hundred? The fans may be noisy, but they keep it ice cold.

thats some possitive thinking haha

Yup. GX2 = 2 x 8800GTS 512 in SLi.

9800gtx and 8800gts(G92) are exactly the same but 9800gtx support 3-way SLI.

Yeah, it is. You shouldnt buy dualcore-gpus yet! :) They arent that much better than 8800gt/gtx/gts/etc.

You need to do you research.

DDR3 isn't really the big thing, it's just a way to threw your money.... i just don't think it's price/performance is ok
Willymaze 3 years ago
I agree. DDR3 need time and people you enjoy throwing their money at new technology that is shit lol...
themisiek2 3 years ago 2
It's not shit. Expensive, yeah, but its just a dumbass statement to say it's shit. Timings arent great but all the high scoring systems are on DDR3.
scotsocool 3 years ago 2
The fastest computer on earth uses Corsair Dominator DDR2 RAM, overclocked to 1200Mhz with only 2 sticks each being 1GB.
DDR3 is a waste right now. Just like DDR2 was when it first came out.
themisiek2 3 years ago
I agree, and when you compare the FPS difference. Their like from 0.5-3 FPS. WOW AMAZING!!

why didnt u get a 790i mobo? but anyways nice rig hope u dont go overkill with it :P
magermage58 3 years ago 4
The step up is 100 bucks. Might go for it in 2 weeks. cant really afford the DDR3 right now.
dagarcia1 3 years ago
yeah you better upgrade to da 790i ,you won't be disappointed at all
