  • hey man any chance you could dissect datsik - bass face? you seem to get the theory of it

  • @PureChewnage Could you give me a time signature of the music? Not sure exactly what you want me to look at.

  • excellent tutorial!. thnx.

  • Daam... you should make music for keygen :D

  • What sound is this . Cool sound

  • how do you create hot key ?

  • man your a genius! thnx for the vid! xD

  • what the fuck is this

  • Thanks for the Hot Key tip.

  • hey! stupid question i know:

but how can i move notes in the midi map horizontally? :D i only can move up and down via arrow keys, but sideways it only moves the blue thingy.

also, how did you insert the note @ 1:03/1:04? via mouse and shortcut?

    *noob noob* :D

  • @freakguitar1 ... and how the hell do you switch octave that fast? you know all the stuff man haha :D

  • Pretty cool! Thanks!

  • true musicianship? No Creating music? Yes

Face the facts MOST music today is recorded on computer and "tweaked" to the Nth degree.

I bet many people would be surprised to find out ow many of their "fav musicians/bands" use an extremely identical technique for the music YOU bought or downloaded. Just my 2 cents

  • @GeoLayered

it all has to do with creativity to make something that sounds good, fresh and interesting for the mind. Being able to play music, is something totally different. That takes time and dedication. However, that does not take a creative or intelligent mind. More or less anyone can learn how to play piano (if given time). However, not anyone can learn to compose an interesting song, since that requires the creativity that in my eyes is what music is about

  • I'm sorry, but this is some of the worst shit I've ever seen/heard.

  • this is not true musicianship at all

  • Hmmmmn... It seems there are some folks who really envy you a lot. "Those who can... do. Those who can't... criticize." That's what you get for trying to help people these days. There is nothing illigitimate about your technique at all, as long as the end result sounds good. I like to record arps with my control keyboard at a slow tempo, then speed it back up and tweak it in the piano roll. Whatever works, eh?

  • You think droping random notes makes good arps... lol.

  • @0verseer

Randomness can create good things. The skill that is required after creating a random note, is picking the good ones out and leaving the ones that do not sound good. A random arp can be something that is great, but that you've never thought of. Being openminded and giving randomness a try can give you a result you never could have achieved with your own mind, because everyone is a little limited in some way in what they can come up with. Thinking out of the box, is what this is about

  • Pretty sucky IMHO those are not even real chords... not following any comepling progression, result is a random sucky arp try.

  • What is dis piece of shit!!!! Guitar Pro is a hundred percent better.

  • @1nV1nC1Bl3BaLaM lol this looks like the matrix

  • really helpful tutorial, i never bothered changing the note durations in my arps before, seems pretty obvious now :)

  • i totally disagree with this! you can't just choose everything (even the chord's notes??!!) in random!! ??!! unless it s an fx or something, i'd rather spend hours to program a great arpeggio track than do it in this way..... :(

  • Major,dude!

  • Major,dude!

  • I was planning to get something like Catanya midi arp.. but now I don't need it!

    Great video!

    Thanks :))

  • how the heck to you even open the key editor with out having to record midi notes?

  • damn that was good.

  • Thanks for the video! I have kind of done the same thing before when creating textures, but i like this approach.... I'm gonna set an octave+/- hotkey, too!

  • Wow! My new midi Master!

Thanks for sharing! I need it this Tut!

  • yeah i find cutting and pasting really hard. thanks so much for showing me how..:s

  • like it, nj

  • Fantastic video, thank-you for sharing! I had no idea such an effect could be achieved so easily. I hope you produce some more tutorial video such as this.

  • yea very good techinque. I think the time spent to make a good arp melody is worth because once you made the song it will remain forever :)

  • Excellent tips mate. Is there a quick and easy way to change MIDI-messages in a simular fashion? So, you can for instance have the filter, resonance or effect-depth change throughout a part of the composition.

  • do you mean besides midi automation?

  • Very cool. Thanks.

  • nice tutorial, thx

  • what version of cubase are you using because it looks to be sx3 or is it 4?

  • cubase studio 4

  • @Argitoth Hi I like how Cubase seems to intelligently moves the notes, I use Logic any ideas? I like the octave shortcuts too... I used a very rare sequencer which could do much more like flams and arpeggios by just using custom mini tools inside the sequencer and dragging the mouse in different directions and speed. Sequitur and it was on BeOS... imagine that : ) I wonder which sequencer on mac or windows can do something of the same.

  • @nutelina not sure what you mean by "Cubase seems to intelligently moves the notes." The technique I show here can be done on any respectable sequencer. Heck, this is not even a technique, it's just... I dunno! A different way to think about arpeggios. BTW, I don't use Cubase anymore, I use REAPER, much better :)

  • This might be a silly question, but did you use the same technique to create the arpeggio shown at the very beginning of the video?

  • yes

  • Hey thanks for the tip!

I'm gonna try that now! I use Cakewalk pro audio 9.

    ~Chris

  • great dude!

How do you hotkey the notes to go octaves up and down?

  • You will have to ask that question to someone who owns your sequencer. If you own cubase, go to the key commands menu, search for Transpose, you will find Transpose +12, Tranpose -12 under Process Logical Preset

  • what program are you using?

  • Cubase Studio 4.

Oh, the synth I am using is Vember Audio Surge

  • Where can you get one and how much do they cost?

  • sorry- keyboard is a rotten old piece of shit!

  • hey nice video dude! I found it by googling myerrormsg lol "waveoutgetselectcontrol" can u help(cam studiodont offer much support"

  • very nice

  • Nice video!

  • that was brilliant my man its because of tutorials like this that people like me can learn and develope cheers ross

  • Wow! That's a GREAT tutorial! :D thanks for putting it up!

  • Thank you, I'll try to create another soon.

  • PRETTY COOL VIDEO!! thanks a lot! please make more of them! :)
