Looks like and "evil Q" from Star Trek shooting this thing with sunglasses on. Nice video. Love the G30, mine has it finish worn dull but is very accurate and works great. Have had it for 10-12 years.
when you buy the 36... you can slide that 36 slide right onto the 30 frame!! :) and its RELIABLE! so you get the capacity of the 30 with the carryability and slimness of the 36!! let me know when you do that, can you please make a video of the frankenstein hybrid? that'd be amazing, thanks a lot!
i bought a model 30 out of the box and it jammed like twice then it fired over 700 rounds no more jams had it for 6 years wont sale it not even for the last bottle of water on earth and just got the model 21 life's good lol
Spot on review. This was the first .45 I ever shot and owned. Like you say, incredibly accurate, reliable and soft shooting especially for a lightweight compact .45. Having a 10+1 capacity was another bonus. This gun blows away any pricier Sig, HK, S&W etc in the same size and caliber. Now that I think about it there's almost no point in owning any other compact .45 unless you have tiny hands
this is the best gun in the world. 100% Accurate and reliable! And the infamous .45 ACP for your protection. Low recoil with a 10 round mag. WHY GET ANYTHING ELSE? Don't Puzzy foot around with a 9mm. Get this big boy today!
the only thing I dont care about glocks - is that it has no real safety - I know there is one on the trigger - but isnt that like putting a brake pedal on the gas pedal?
@221smay the only real safety on a firearm is between your ears. If you are going to RELY on a mechanical device to overcome your lack of training, you should consider whether carry a firearm at all is a wise choice.
@221smay your safety is between your ears. Mechanical safeties are a crutch and are counter productive to good tactical training. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. That is a rule, not an option.
Check your chamber make sure you have an unsupported barrel so it kbs in your face also make sure you pay 500 bucks for a piece of plastic why dont you see what Lapd and Portland pd have to say about your polymer princess in 45.acp shouldnt you be making moonshine for next weeks tea party rally?
Great Vids, with a lot of usefull information. One Question... Whats ur oppinion in the rumors the glock 30 does not develop enough muzzle energy for .45 self defense ammunition. (bullet expendation).
@mimaki0 These guns are almost indestructable. Unless it's been abused you should have no worries. The Glock 30 is not used as a duty pistol so it would be rare for one to be fired excessively. It's a great pistol.
@mimaki0 if you're in the market for a used one be sure to check that it has a trigger bar marked 4256-1-. there was a brief period in the spring of '09 where a few of the glock 30sf's were being sent back due to wear on the trigger bars (4256-1). trigger bars with the 4256-1 markings were causing the guns to have "failure to return to battery" problems. just make sure the gun u get is marked 4256-1-, not 4256-1. idk if this applies to the 30, but it def will if you're in the market for a 30sf.
all that is said here is true - HOWEVER - one thing not mentioned - there is no real safety on this gun - if a round is chambered and you pull the trigger - it will always go boom - not for me
I had the chance to shoot one of these pistols this past weekend. I was really surprised, the recoil seems to be liter than my .357mag. It's a great easy shooter.
With the way it handles recoil, I was back on target quickly. One thing I did see is that if you limp wrist it and can double feed. This happened on my first shot (I've never fired .45 before, wasn't sure what was going to happen). This gun is making me think about selling all my other handguns for it. Just wish it was cheaper.
Not many will agree with you that the Glock is a physically beautiful gun. Certainly the quality and function are beautiful, but the gun itself? Well.. to each his own.
@gruelin1 Gun Beauty for the shooter is in Reliability, Durability, Function and Accuracy, not looks..... that's for the collectors. I'm a shooter so Glock is beautiful~
You gun vids are the best. You target that u shot with the 1911 was outstanding. Does the g30 shoot that good? I bought my first G30 & was very happy with the way it shoots. I'm thinking about getting my first 1911.
@ls1dragracer My two favorite pistols are 1911 45acp and Glocks (all models). You'll really enjoy a 1911 pistol. They been around since 1911 and now more popular than ever. Thanks my friend~
Wow this great, in Uzbekistan we have may problems whit gypsys. You can come here and work as a gypsy catsher. You talk whit polich chief Gurkash Bogdaiev you get work and make many money. Great video on the G30. I have concealed carried mine for 6 months or so. I bought it in 2002 and put it in storage until I retired from the Army. It was like a Christmas present after forgetting about it. It shoots great, stands up to a lot of abuse and sweat and has never shown any sign of rust. I clean mine every month, maybe, and I trust it with my life.
i heard or read somewhere that we were not to use hollow points in this or any glock! but the manual said nothing ,so i guess it's ok? what do you think, and would it be due to the different barrel type?
@slowtaknow Hollow points are fine for Glock Pistols. Lead reloads are not to be shot in Glocks because of lthe rifling and lead build-up in the barrel. I've been shooting Hollow points for years with no problems. Thanks~
I enjoy your videos and reviews, thanks to you and others online...i've enjoyed my G30. Also, your video quality is great, need some pointers on how you developed your videos. thanks!
sootch..good video...I traded a walther ppk.380 for a glock 30. Not the gun for me. Got rid of it 4 weeks later. I would use it as a glove compartment gun but I would never carry one. Too thick, too bulky, too big for my taste. No disagreement on reliablity or accuracy but way too big for a concealed carry pistol. I own a 21sf and dig it. I can get it out of the uncle mikes and be dead on donkey kong in 1.05. The glock 30 feels like a.."fat man in a little coat. Rock on Sootch. God Bless America
I'm going to check this out, I have thick square hands... I really wanted a Hi Cap double stack .45 but never could get a good grip on the Glock 21's and Para Ordnance pistols.
@Dkguerilla Extra power ammo. I had a guy comment that Glock doesn't recommend +p. Most basic 45acp will be effective and not add extra wear to your gun. Thanks~
Hey Sootch, just wondering how big your hands are so I can get an idea of how big this gun would be for me. My hands are 7.25 inches from wrist to fingertip.
@fidgetingfinch Mine are the same 7-1/4" from wrist to index fingertip. It's best to go to a gun shop or gun show where there are a lot of guns and see what fits your hand. Thanks Bro~
Great pistol! I was just reading the first hand account of a gun store employee in my area defending himself and his 2 coworkers against a robber with a Glock 30 back in 1999.
I have heard of issues with the G36. It is kinda the red headed step child of the Glock family. Feeding, stovepiping, and double feed issues. The ownes of the G36 either have 100% reliablity or have issues. It seems to be 50/50 chance.
Dude, thats a sick gun! I love the compactness, and the 45ACP! I've got some big hands, so that would suit me perfectly! Think I'll get one once I'm of age for CC. Love your reviews man!
@55mrmole53 Thanks for the heads up. I personally don't shoot +p but I read a review where a National Magazine Gun writer was tesing +p loads for the model 30. That doesn't mean anything though so I would heed your friends advice. Thanks~
sootch I bought a model 36 about a year and half ago for concealed carry. I love it powerful slim and compact. A hot day with nothin on but shorts and a t-shirt you can tuck it away in a inside the waistband holster and no one can tell you have it.
Ahhh, my personal carry pistol. I reload at about 21 cent a round. Fires everything save wad and semi wadcutters( those would not feed proper.) I shoot lead through it as well. Its a low pressure round and I clean it often enough.
Had a Glock 30 SF and it was a great gun with surprisingly little recoil for a .45 ACP. My only beef with the 30 SF was it was a little too chucky for concealed carry living in Florida. I have since traded it in for a Kimber Ultra Carry II, but my Glock 19 is still my primary concealed carry gun as of right now. Hopefully I made the right decision on letting the 30 SF go.
I too was very surprised on how the recoil looked when you shot it. I expected it to be much higher for a subcompact .45, but it looked very manageable.
dude sootch u know i love u but that was hillarious when u said, "I've shot many unloaded pistols" I mean I get the safety and everything but that was really funny.
sootch, I had one of them unloaded guns go off on me a long time ago when I thought I knew everything. By the way do you do any reloading? Good video.
Good review - thank you. I have heard from several sources that 45 has less recoil than 40?
Having small hands - I have never been comfortable w/ a grip on glocks. I was looking for other less beefy 45s, but I like the dependability and commonality of the glock.
How small are your hands? A ppk/s fits my hand perfectly good size and is a g (esp. for CC), in .380 (9mm short). I may look at a 45 revolver with a smaller grip. BTW my index finger is 2 3/4".
@prayfortruejustice You need to go to a Gun Shop with lots of guns and try different grips until you fine one you like. That is key. My index finger is 3-1/4" so 9mm framed Glocks or 1911's are perfect for me.
Yeah I thought you had reviewed the Glock 30 before. In fact it was after viewing yours and nutnfancy's reviews that I purchased the Glock 30 SF. I like it. Browsing my local gun store recently I found a used Blackhawk Serpa holster that fits it perfectly.
Very Nice. I carry a G 21 for profession use and i also have a G21sf and G36. They are all awesome and i love them. I cant wait to get a G30. I shoot my buddies a few weeks ago and wow....be safe.
@primetimebeatz if you are right handed tighten the grip on your right hand and lighten up on left. if you squeeze to much with left it pulls it off. there is a really great picture on the web that shows a target and what you are doing wrong based on where you are hitting
Hi Sootch00, I like your phrase at the end. To many guns and not enough funds.lol. Very nice Glock. Have you noticed when you are shooting you have that Go ahead and make my day look going. Very cool.lol. 5/5
No doubt about that HeadTater, Sootch is one of the guys I look up to on yt. Sootch as well as a few others have inspired me to make videos, hoping to share the little bit of knowledge I do have. I love to learn and try to pass that on.
You are absolutely right, this gun doesn't have to much of recoil for a 45 . I regret I traded mine a few months ago. The reason was it is to bulky. Now I am carrying a G27 which I like very much. Great vid.
Watched the Nutnfancy video too. I was very curious how it would kick: big caliber, short barrel, light gun. I suspected big recoil. Interesting that you find it managable, didn't expect that.
I enjoyed watching the review. Keep the good stuff coming my man :-)
Thanks for the review! Just picked up one. Enjoyed it!

unlike my para P-12 and 1911's it had very little side to side movement when firing it.

@biguy525 I haven't reloaded in a couple of years but am planning to get my gear out and start back. When I do, I'll do some videos. Thanks Bro~

I love mine!
jonah70757 2 years ago
I'll second that on the recoil. it has less than my 40 cal 23 Model. I was likewise pleasantly surpised on the recoil.!

Great review, sootch00, as usual. 5-stars!

Hey Sootch , How do you feel about the Glock 18?
scottishboy1987 2 years ago
He probably feels the way I do. I'd love to try one out eventhough I can't have one.

I have a Glock22 and it's great. I really want a Glock 30, to add to my collection. Good review!
nelsonboy707 2 years ago
Good review - thank you. I have heard from several sources that 45 has less recoil than 40?
Having small hands - I have never been comfortable w/ a grip on glocks. I was looking for other less beefy 45s, but I like the dependability and commonality of the glock.
How small are your hands? A ppk/s fits my hand perfectly good size and is a g (esp. for CC), in .380 (9mm short). I may look at a 45 revolver with a smaller grip. BTW my index finger is 2 3/4".
prayfortruejustice 2 years ago
@prayfortruejustice You need to go to a Gun Shop with lots of guns and try different grips until you fine one you like. That is key. My index finger is 3-1/4" so 9mm framed Glocks or 1911's are perfect for me.
sootch00 2 years ago
Another great review. The 30 is one of my all time favorite guns. A little beefy, but totally worth it for 10+1 of .45acp

As always, mission accomplished! Great review Don, by far superior to the old (and now apparently deprecated) one.
That's what I'm talking about!

I don't have anything against Glocks. I would buy them if they were an American company and made in America.
stchman 2 years ago
@stchman The full size Polymer Frames are made in Smyrna, GA but all the slides, steel parts and compact lowers are made in Austria.
sootch00 2 years ago
@sootch00
It does not matter to me if Glocks are made in the US, I prefer to buy American firearms made in America.
stchman 2 years ago
Yeah I thought you had reviewed the Glock 30 before. In fact it was after viewing yours and nutnfancy's reviews that I purchased the Glock 30 SF. I like it. Browsing my local gun store recently I found a used Blackhawk Serpa holster that fits it perfectly.

Very Nice. I carry a G 21 for profession use and i also have a G21sf and G36. They are all awesome and i love them. I cant wait to get a G30. I shoot my buddies a few weeks ago and wow....be safe.

when i shoot my glock 22 it bounces to the left idk how to handle it
primetimebeatz 2 years ago
@primetimebeatz if you are right handed tighten the grip on your right hand and lighten up on left. if you squeeze to much with left it pulls it off. there is a really great picture on the web that shows a target and what you are doing wrong based on where you are hitting

No doubt about that HeadTater, Sootch is one of the guys I look up to on yt. Sootch as well as a few others have inspired me to make videos, hoping to share the little bit of knowledge I do have. I love to learn and try to pass that on.

Another awesome review Sooch, Thanks. My son is looking at a .45 and this look promising.
SgtBooker44 2 years ago
You are absolutely right, this gun doesn't have to much of recoil for a 45 . I regret I traded mine a few months ago. The reason was it is to bulky. Now I am carrying a G27 which I like very much. Great vid.

Alex

all glocks pretty much have the same shape. It's really hard to see a glock and guess which model it is

Nice Sootch I like it!
Watched the Nutnfancy video too. I was very curious how it would kick: big caliber, short barrel, light gun. I suspected big recoil. Interesting that you find it managable, didn't expect that.
I enjoyed watching the review. Keep the good stuff coming my man :-)
