I find it incredible that all the transport in the world emits less green house gas than the meat industry. It's incredible to think about but I guess all the processing that goes on does it. Can you imagine being in heaven and having all the animals you've consumed say "why did you eat me?"...with tears running down thier faces..or beaks. Sorry ya'all....I wonder if I can blame that on my parents too?
she is my all time fave actress (im obsessed with the show bones as well) and i love animals more than anything.....but i cant give up dairy products :/
Emily tu est trop trop trop trop trop trop belle! tu est une fille MAGNIFIQUE!! une superbe actrice! et une fille généreuse! je t'aime emily et j'aime bones
another reason to love her :-D I'm getting so sick of the meat I find in the stores... Especially after learning how chicken nuggets are made... I'm getting to the point where the ONLY meat I'll eat is something I've raised myself that I KNOW is safe, and goes directly to my plate, not through a bunch of other processes first, and seeing as how I don't own any animals like that, then I've pretty much become a garden eater :-D
I'm 20 and I've been a vegetarian for 5 years :) I don't miss eating meat at all and just the smell of bacon turns my stomach! I couldn't be a vegan though, I drink a lot of milk and eat a lot of cheese - no animals are being killed for milk or cheese so I'm happy to eat/drink them :) much respect to those of you who are vegans though :)
@CheerleaderAmylia Yes, animals are being killing for milk and cheese. In order for a cow to lactate, they must become pregnant- and it's usually done through artificial insemination. The calves are then taken from their mothers, and kept in horrible conditions before being killed. All the while, the mothers are kept in atrocious conditions while used for their milk. Then the process starts again. Many of the lactating mothers die from poor conditions or stress. Just thought you should be aware.
I became a Vegetarian Very Young - like 16/17 Years ago and Never ever missed the Taste of an animal.
But I would miss too much As a Vegan I have to attmit; and Even if it Works out for me alone - with my better half and with friends you can't Share anymore. Colleges bringing Food and auch Things...
My sister is a vegetarian and one of my best friends is a vegan. I prefer not to eat meat but for me seafood is my weakness so I was thinking about becoming a pescatarian. I love crab but that is mainly because my family is from Maryland. I am trying to work my way there.
I've been a vegetarian for 18 years, vegan off and on for many years before finally switching for good when my husband and I noticed our second child did not tolerate dairy well. Oh and I'm a huge Bones fan.
Wather boy if i Said "i love hunting people kill people it's good!" i don't going to be a murder for you? well because i respect the animals you are a murder for me.
I would not mind being vegan except for the fact that I love the taste of meat, can't stand vegetables, and enjoy hunting and fishing. I have no problem with vegetarians/vegans unless they do the stupid things that peta does. comparing meat eaters to nazis, freezing animals to death, and continuously forcing their beliefs on others
i have been a vegetarian for over two years now after seeing my dog get hit by a speeding car. it has made the biggest difference in my life and the thought of eating meat makes me sick. oh and i love emily!
I tried vegan for a couple of days.I felt like I didn't have energy for anything, so those people saying they felt more energetic there lying.Once I got back to my meat eating habits it was like I was superman.
You cannot say you tried being a vegan if you only lasted a couple of days. That's like saying you went on a diet for only two days and then wondering why you haven't lost any weight. You have to be a vegan for at least a month before you can make any comment on how you feel. Thats how long it takes for the body to get use to the change. Try it for a month and you will feel the difference.
And why would people lie about feeling more energetic?
Okay, the lack of energy you were feeling was most likely a symptom of food withdrawal. Just the first result of Googling "food withdrawal" gave me the following symptoms: headache; food cravings; irritability, tearful; fatigue; and generalized aching and back pain.
It also said that the symptoms will reach their peak by the 2nd or 3rd day.
In order words, being Vegan probably didn't make you tired, you own body and brain probably did.
No such thing as a meat eating environmentalist??? I don't agree. I eat meat......in moderation, people should balance their diets and not over indulge (obesity). I know that the meat industry is one of the worst offenders when it comes to pollution, and I don't agree with the way that many meat producers treat their animals. But I believe that you can eat meat and still care for the environment. I do.
i became a vegitarian 6 months ago its not really that hard i am feeling better i get out more its better and the family grocrey bill went down by $100 so we are happy espesily with the econemey it was better for us :)
I admire people who can do that. A few years ago i tried to become a vegeterian, but it's just not for me.
But i also think that eating meat is healthy; so I think it's hard to find the right substitutes if you are a vegan; also because the majority of the people still eat meat. I think there should be a lot more options in the supermarket to make it appealing for people.
I've been a vegetarian for 10 years and I've recently became a vegan and it's one of the best choices Ive ever made. Its not hard at all. It opens up a whole other world to you. You start discovering new recipes, you feel great, you have much more energy, youre in better shape and you know youre doing something good for yourself and the environment:)
i really want to be a vegaterian but it's too damn hard, emily is so awesome though, she's pretty, a vegan, and she is a great actress! Brats are too tasty ;(
I live in the Midwest, where hunting is king. Hunters will give you a litany of conservation-related answers when approached about the immorality of murdering animals. You rarely hear the truth; they've been taught to enjoy killing. If you spend even an hour looking up the impact of a meat rich diet on healthcare costs, the ecology, and your own body, not to mention our animal buddies, you may learn something. It absolutely cracks me up when a meat lover finds my soyburger 'disgusting'.
The nitrates in various kinds of refuse are immensely useful for digesting carbonaceous municipal or agricultural waste at a rate of higher than 1:20. The only requirement is that they be properly repurposed rather than left to despoil the soil. Similarly, cows don't destroy water when they consume it, they merely borrow it.
We are descended from meat and insect eating omnivorous hominins and primates before them. Properly managed, Earth can support our diet.
Ohh i would love to be a vegetarian but like forenzix1990 said, it takes a huge lifestyle change! I have eaten meat all my life, and it would be very hard to quit. But I still believe in animals' rights VERY MUCH too. So being a vegetarian doesn't have to be the only thing to help animals.
It isn't just about the animals. It's about the environment, health benefits, and the millions of people we can be feeding with grain used to feed animals raised for food.
And that isn't a good excuse. Do you think everyone is born a vegetarian or vegan? It's not as hard as you think to just keep meat off of your plate. I should know. I'm 17 years old I gave up meat 2 years ago and have never touched it since.
Staying a meat-eater doesn't mean someone doesn't care about the environment. I care about the environment, health benefits, animal rights, etc... but that doesn't mean that I HAVE to become a vegetarian. I have a story similar to juliastory. I care about animal rights, but the lifestyle change is hard (especially in my culture where there is huge meat consumption). I respect your choice and admire it, but I disagree with your logic.
You have to be the smartest 17 years old I have heard of since myself. I became a vegetarian around the age of 19. I could not have said what you said better. You go girl! It is not that hard to not eat meat. It is just an excuse to keep eating flesh that is not yours.
I really respect Emily and her opinions and love her as an actress.
But as someone who is on a limited income, it just isn't feasible for me to not eat meat. Being vegan is not cheap, it takes a HUGE lifestyle change if you were previously eating it.
I don't wear animal products, or wear anything tested on animals,I drive a hybrid and recycle, I do eat meat. I understand the impact it has on our planet, but there IS such thing as a meat eating environmentalist.
forenzix, I'm a 23 year old male grad student, I make less than $8 000/ year and I support myself. I cook, I buy groceries, I even go out to eat at times. I worked hard to get through grad school. Often, I, like many others, barely had time to cook, but I made the time. Oh, did I mention, I'm a vegan and I have been all while getting my degree and the first year, I was making less than $7 000.
I'm not a fan of eating meat but honestly I eat a little...I have my reasons but I will stop eating meat before the end of this year...I love animals and I would never ever wear fur ever!
I think this message to continue to spread. There is a great deal to consider with regards to factory farming and it's effects on animals, human health and the enviroment. Each has huge points to consider- I'm not vegan yet but am moving closer-
Why is that? China produced more greenhouse gasses than America, and I doubt that those were all due to the Meat Industry. The Meat Inustry has more of a foothold in America than anywhere else.
I'm a meat eater, and I love my environment, but because some paid actor blames global warming on the meat industry, I suddenly want the world to become a Wasteland like in Fallout 3?
