I lived in the castle for 2 years...I was a student at Alnwick College of Education (1974-1976). I was one of the last English students living there before our college was closed . Then St Cloud moved in. The room in Upper Fosse was my room Sept 1975-July 1976!!! I shered it with a giel called Carol. It was really amazing to see your video, the mailboxes and the dining room...so many memories...Thanks!!!
This is amazing. I'm studying abroad right now in Central London (right in the middle of the city in flats), and I have to say, I never thought I could be jealous of someone else studying abroad, but I totally am. Living in a castle? Whaaaat? And Hogwarts was filmed there!
A definate fairy tale, for sure. I spent last summer studying at the castle. Everyday I think about it and miss it more and more. Things have definately changed over the years. Oh how I love Alnwick.
And hey, did you know that they have wireless internet in the castle now?! Yup! The "kids" there now can even watch Twins games *live* in the middle of the night like they're watching TV. Craziness! Thanks again for posting this... It really is amazing. I mean, sometimes even *I* have a hard time believing myself when I hear myself telling people that, once upon a time, I lived with a Duke in a 1,000-year-old castle in England. Kinda sounds like a fairy tale, doesn't it?!
This totally made my day! I sobbed, so I watched it again. (And I'm going to watch it again!) I lived there S/S '98. Two years later, I had Pat's room (that Mary so nicely decorated) in the Upper Fosse. I managed the primitive computer lab for work study. Seeing Patrick again was priceless! (I miss him & Krista. Where are they now?!) Thanks for taking me back "home" for those 4 awesome minutes! (I met the Duke 7/06 at SCSU's 25th anniversary reunion & spent the week in the Fosse again. Magical!)
Thanks for sharing this video. I am planning to spend a semester there and it was neat to get a mini little tour. It looks like an amazing place, and I love how it echos. Not a lot of Americans can say they have lived in a castle, let alone been in one. I can't wait to go!
Awesome to hear about it. That was an awesome time, kinda reminds me of highschool mixed in with college, mixed in with spring break, mixed in with realworld.

Ahhhh! I did the Alnwick study abroad trip in the summer of 2004. I can't tell you how much I miss it!!!
The dining hall seems quite different. There's huge wooden benches in there now, and a monstrous hot water boiler.
By the way, I had your job!!! I remember sweeping and mopping those stairs and those floors every week.
