man i love your videos...im only 12 but i love all the old cars especially old mopars, me and my dad have been watching your videos about Mickey Thompson and old muscle cars...keep em coming!
These cars are a real piece of drag racing history and they mean a lot to those of us who grew up around this sport. Great video! Thanks for posting this.
I have been a fan since the car first came out. Had the honor and pleasure of meeting and spending several minutes talking with Bob Riggle a few years back at Atlanta Dragway. He is a true gentleman. I wish him well in his retirement. Thanks for posting this video. Like htrdcarnut said, I would have paid to watch this.
If Bob happens to see this... Glad you finally got someone to shoot video from inside the vehicle!! Wish your wife would have let me do it!! :)! Thanks for considering it, though!! "Have a safe trip".
The roar of that Hemi cuts through the air. It sounds like your ripping open an old burlap sack. Then he cuts the throttle and for a second the audience is in the vacuum before the cheers erupt. THATS ENTERTAINMENT!
WOW, seeing the Hemi Under Glass, the Little Red Wagon and the LA Dart bring me back to my days in College when I went to many drag meets and saw all of the wheel standers. This was a great piece of history.
@sasquatch955 People dont seem to understand if you do wheelies you cant steer the car and you loose the race richard petty drove a barracuda in to the audiance when he tried drAG RACING AND KILLED A WOMAN
@kronoseclipse thats interesting my uncle did the windows on the gerstner 36 plymouth competition coupe that was on the cover of car craft in 66 was in car shows and did some drag racing
The U.S. 30 wheel stand footage blows me away as I was 10 years old at the time and at the drag strip that day for the first time ever. I loved drag racing in my youth and after hearing the Jan Gabriel commercial for this show on WLS had begged my parents to take me that Sunday in 67' We almost turned around when we got there and found out the grandstand side admission was $5 per person. Great mom and dad that they were we went in and spent the day. I was in racing heaven.
I was 10 years old in 1966 when the Hemi came to Valley Forge VA Hospital in PA. All the (earliest) wounded Viet Nam Vets came out to see it run in wheelchairs, crutches and rolling beds. Some Vets helped the blind guys come out to hear it and feel it. My dad told me I HAD to come see him in the hospital that day ! Thanks Dad and THANK YOU BOB ! I've loved motorsports ever since . Ray Taylor
Got a tear in my eye watching this one. Saw him at Amarillo Dragway in the 60's. Mr. Riggle good luck and thanks, My memory bank will always remember the Hemi Under Glass.
He never did rope off that car. My dad took me to Englishtown Raceway Park in the late 90's for my first drag race and Mr. Riggle and the 68' fish was there. I remember being mesmerized by the car in the pits, just because of the Hemi being under the glass. Dad looked at me and said "Wait till he runs." I asked why? "Just wait son, trust me." That first run floored me and left an impression that has lasted for years. This man loved his trade and his fans. A true King of the Strip.
I met Bob when he owned the local Kawasaki dealership 30 years ago. He really is a great man. I hope I'm half as active as he is still today when I'm his age.
What a cool video and awesome memories brought back to mind. These guys were real hot rodders , listening to the stories from the actual drivers is mind blowing ! It's great hearing from the rodders that actually know what they are talking about !!!!!!!!!! American history 101 !
Nice ride Bob remember the old days when Tommy(nephew), Roy and myself (Nova2Dude@ gmail) used to look forward to you coming to Tinley Park to your brothers house and going to US 30, Oswego & other strips with you to race the guys Bill Maverick & telling us how to do crowd pleasing burn outs with bleach when we were younger (1970's) Are you still in M, Ohio let me know
This is one more thing that made being born in the 1961's GREAT ! In 1969 the 'HEMI under GLASS" and the 'LITTLE REd WAGON" ruled ! As did the "Snake & Mongoose" show...aka Hot Wheels.
God Bless Bob Riggle a wonderful person and a GREAT AMERICAN ! Thanks for the wonderful memories ... He did it for LOVE not money .....
This whole video is so awsome. I gotta get more info on the Flip over a100 truck. Thats the first I ever heard of it. Anyone with additional info please elaborate. I know the guys name is George but couldnt make out the last name. A google search turned up nothing.

WOW, that was cool, Bob, I always loved to see you when you came up to Hinckleys Dodge in Salt Lake City! having worked there for 9yrs it almost seemed as if you were a part time employee when you showed. Everyone always commented on how friendly you were. 3 generations of my family thank you!
Man, this brings back memories! I saw pretty much all of the wheelstanders in the vid at the Stardust Raceway in Vegas as a teen. If our folks couldn't take us my buds and I would thumb a ride. They closed the track in 1970 but after seeing this vid I guess I remember it well! These guys weren't crazy...they were just having fun! I remember them laughing their rears off in the pits after a run! Thanks for posting!
This in one of the coolest car vids on YouTube, hands down! This guy was crazy. Surprising he's still with us. Can you think of a better job than this? Thanks for putting it up, mrpitv.
@mrpitv thank you very much for putting up such a great video.Very much appreciated.I saw him back in the 70's at a strip in Salem, Ohio he rean against Wild Bill Shewsburrie in his whellie dart.
YEE-HAA and F!@#$% Hang on man :):):):):):) What an awesome exibition of PENSTAR HEMI power, but stick'in your body outta that windshield like that, i don't know man when your roll'in along about a 100+MPH is suicide. But what a rush!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!
Bob Riggle bar non is my favorite Drag Racer of all time!!! Bob and the Hurst Hemi Under Glass are GOD!!! You couldn't meet a nicer guy or see a cooler car. I can remember when I first met Bob him telling me and my Dad about him riding in the Back up Pick up. Finally getting to see that was awesome!! In my opinion Bob is/was the greatest showman in racing. Thanks for posting this.
I remember being a huge fan of "Hemi Under Glass" since being a kid watching him ride at New England Drag Way. So cool to see the footage of these legends. Boston Strangler, Snake Army, Jungle Jim ... all tops in my book as well. Thanks for uploading this!!!!!!!!!!!
@allengoodman69 they had the car in a car show in the new york colleseum but i didnt get to see it at the track I knew a few who had barracudas and a rambler marlin with a fast back
