  • I liked the ending, how everyone won't notice the moment that you truely move on, because they finally are okay. And I appreciate the moment her mom says goodbye. When my grandparents passed away I felt a moment similar to it, where you get that moment of sunlight and love, as if you experienced their last goodbye and suddenly you feel lighter and know everything will be okay. Even though you miss them, you know your love won't keep you from living anymore.

  • i think when they dident show it, it allowed us to see Stanley Tucci as she did not as the family does, which i feel like the focus was always about

  • Its really an amazing film i mmyself am 14 , and it made me cry, i know that your lal gonna say "its not scaryyyyy" well to me it was, because i have to walk home by myself, and i have to walk over a field.. so it is very scary to me, i cried :L i just dont think im that stupid to say yes to a man who asks me too look at his little club house. It was an amazing film , but its also upsetting

  • They didnt show the murder because the movie was geard toward young teenage girls, and if they showed that scene it would probly be rated R, and then the young girls would not be able to see it. I do agree they should have put in that scene though

  • @MrTREYGOMYEGGO

how is it geared toward teenage girls? How did you come to that conclusion?

  • i agree i feel that we should have seen the killing scene not all of it but more of the struggle i find it hard to imagine it to understand her anger

  • absolutely perfect description, great review man

  • I agree for the most part with the review. I don't think we needed to see the murder however. This is a crime thriller, not a horror film. In the film Se7en we didnt see the 6 John Doe murders just the crime scenes, which makes it far worse.

Besides that i totally agree Marky Mark is great playing the dad, as is Rachel Weisz as the mother.

  • This film...for me was heart-wrenching

  • It doesn't work well, it was the most confused film i have ever watched, it was too long and had an unsatisfying ending, the acting was amazing but the direction was shiiiiiite fucking waste of time THIS FILM DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IT WANTS TO SAY!

  • i think they need to investigate this dude he looks too interested in the killing scene!

  • what i really dont get it the psychic girl's roll, even though she seemed to see the dead girl, everyone else ends up seeing signs of her presence even the bad guy, he saw her shadow somehow and thats what made the father feel more suspicious...weird but ok.

  • I really enjoyed your critique of this movie. It made a lot of sense and I agree that the grandmother took away from a few things but I still love this movie and think the message of it was great.

  • Downvoted because you just told me who killed her with no warning..

  • @Gaming4fun88 - The murderer is never kept a secret. It's obvious from the very beginning of the movie. He didn't give anything away.

  • they also left out entirely from the film that the girl was raped before she was killed which would cause ALOT more emotion to be taken by the audience. I'm not sure if it was a good choice to leave out but it really made me hate him in the book.

  • @bladebomb

that's why its called a review. you dont go onto youtube and watch a review of a movie you havent seen without expecting some spoilers. but you get my point.

  • The grandmother was a foil of the dad. She was there to showed how differently one could deal with the death of Susie compared to how the father did.

  • @orbital151

I could have sworn that Lynn had practically nothing to do with Susie's death at all, actually. Never did she ever try to help them move on. Never did she say anything about it, really.

  • u know.. i was REALLY hopin.. they would find her body =/ pissed me off.. IF they had shown the the murder take place.. would have made me even more mad, at the fact they never find her body, for what he did to her.. my opionion.. a movie i wnt watch agian.. i dont like crappy endings.. but i was glad he died =D...lol

  • @donaldhellsing......lol....hell yeah tripped me out also......

  • I agree with you, if you read the book it is definetely a lot darker than the movie, but in the book they never really even describe the killing process, but yea i think if the movie was more related to the book it would have been rated R

  • you are so right i really wanted to see her death and i am reading the book and its really deep more than the movie

  • In the end when mr Harvey dies was funny because it looked fake when he was falling down the cliff but felt good because he deserved it

  • its a film i would watch again

  • This movie makes me trip balls.

  • i actually liked this movie.

  • I love the movie. I understand it has its flaws and not everyone will enjoy it, but I love it. and the Grandmother was funny

  • I think the movie was fine the way it was directed. Peter Jackson wasn't shying away from the murder scene as much as he was giving you false hope that she escaped and then crashed it to the floor and broke your dreams of justice like brittle glass. I think the monster should have been killed by the local town people, but it all worked out in the end.

  • i thought the movie was kinda sad

  • I agree that the murder being shown would have had a powerful effect. It also doesn't strike me as Peter Jackson's style to shy away from that.

  • this movie makes me want to smash my head with a anvil

    SO BAD !!!

  • @crammage you havent seen Pirates 3, have you?

  • @ajmrowland no but i heard it wasnt very special

i dind get into the whole pirates thing

i did see the first one and it was good

  • Although I personally loved this movie, you reviewed it really well. Excellent job!

  • people keep saying its obvious what happens to her.......apperently she was raped and cut up into pieces, they didnt mention anything about that happening (unless im missing something its impossible to know that unless you read the book) but from what i saw she kicked him in the face and escaped..... after about 20 minutes after they didnt explain how she was killed i didnt even devote my full attention

    this movie sucks ass

  • Enjoyable review...

I gave the movie a similar score, but I'm glad they left out the attack and murder..

I thought Stanley Tucci was ok, but Saoirse Ronan is the real class act here.

  • Why would you need to see the murder when they show you the gruesome aftermath? That would be completely unnecessary.

  • This is an excellent review. I agree with most of what you said.

  • Way to give the movie away you fucking looser why the fuck couldnt you tell us you were going to give spoilers you idiot.FUCK HEAD!

  • The movie starts off ok. As it unfolds it totally begins to fade. By the end it really starts falling apart all together. Ultimate SHITTY ENDING!!!!!!

  • nah i don't think it was a great film. go watch shutter island.

  • Thought it was going to be more powerful. More like the Eighties movie GHOST perhaps.

Gratuitous use of CGI was not needed (the acting was very good). The release of the two most important hooks in a movie (victim, murder method and murderer) were released from the start, killing the thrill of the chase.

    Could have been better Peter.

  • cool review, il sub and rate :)

  • Actually in the movie after he killed the girl he put the sac of bone or bits or what ever was left of the girl in the vault and he kept going down staris and sitting and stairing at it so i think i got the just of what kind of screwed up monster he was

  • @jmbthegreat but did he poison her with the soda or something?

  • @CrystalLovesFP no, if she had enough energy to try and climb the ladder. she didnt even drink the soda.

  • @CrystalLovesFP i don't think he did but i could be wrong

  • @CrystalLovesFP No he didn't. In the actual book he rapes her and then when she's whimpering on the floor he goes over to her and kills her with the shaving blade that he had in there.

  • Great review! I think that they should of shown her murder too but I read that Peter Jackson was trying his best to keep it pg-13 so more people could experience his film. I also think maybe he was going at it in a more artistic way. Like when you thought she got out but i guess it was just her ghost. I liked that but maybe he should of released two versions of the film.

  • I was thinking the same about them not showing the murder, but I don't think it would've been kept at PG-13.

I really enjoyed the movie and this review

  • FUCKIN GOOD WORK DICKHEAD ! WHY DONT YOU JUST TELL US THE STORY LINE BY LINE ! i wanted to see this movie , at say tell us that there are spoilers in this video !

  • it sucks to see a pter jackson movie not get as much praise as his other films.

  • Nice review man. Very informative. :)

  • A good constructive review, unlike 90% of the mixed reviews this film got,

I think the power of Walhberg and Tucci's scene together along with just about any Walhberg scene made this film pretty amazing.

I think your point about not showing her murder is a good point.

  • great review, i really dont understand why you dont have more subscribers :/

  • @darkwatch1234 Thanks for the kind words darkwatch. Maybe I need a hot chick on the reviews with me? ;)

    Spread the word!

  • @MovieBlogTV cool review, I agree, you should have more reviewers, for now, you have another one with me...

  • @darkwatch1234 This is not a great review, two stupid things were said 1. we needed to see the murder because without it the guy just seemed creepy and 2. the grandmother wasn't needed in the film OK 1. the point of him just seeming creepy was that that was the way the people around him saw him, cus they never saw the murder but they felt that something was wrong with him 2. The grandma was integral to the mother and father getting back together as the mother needed time away.
