In my case it is the flame sensor. I cleaned it and it worked for a few days then failed again and did the cleaning again and again to the point that I have to clean it every time it attempts to turn on. So I went to get a new one and after 3 weeks it started again. Same deal. is there something else that could be wrong? please help....!
hvac guys are so smart they have to comment on everything thinking they are better when in fact your all idiots! anyone can read a book and figure out a a/c or furnace just like changing oil on a car, so what makes you so smart again?
This could be a bad control. I have seen the American Standard freedom 78 do this. some are because of bad controllers. although, you state it's the flame sensor
Do not touch your own furnace, if you are not gas certified, then don;t touch it. Plain and simply call a service company or someone you know who is gas certified to have a look.
Is'nt that the American standard Freedom 78? I have had mine for 13 years and it has never once had a problem, except for the blower motor that wore out.
Try cleaning the flame rod . Generally there is an oxide build-up on the metal part of the rod. This usually fixes it 99% of the ttime. Then its time to check flame current and wire continuity, and or a cracked ceramic insulator. In some rare cases I have seen grounding or a bad control.
nope it takes one try to fix 13 is my lucky number. i been doing hvac for 10 years. in my shop that has 18 techs, only 2 techs were ever nate. they let it expire. There have been new guys that started that were nate. they didn't work out thou. they had lots of callbacks. Booksmart and no common sense dose not work to well in this field.
Likely a bad flame sensor. The pressure switch would have kept the ignitor from starting in the first place so check that the flame senor is grounded well and if so then replace it.
this was a video to show a personal ferind of mine it is not intended to be a "How to video" if your experiencing problems with your furnace you should call a NATE certified professional

Nate is over rated. If u want ot get robbed call a nate tech. if u want the job done right at a fair price call a service company.

@acmech13 Rarely is that a flame sensor! more often a pressure switch and or its hose connections are blocked at the induced draft housing.

Classic flame sensor problem or poor grounding.

also could be the pressure switch or the pressure switch port is clogged.
