2 big tips for your mag sniping.

Don't stay zoomed in too look around, just zoom when u are following someone.

Make suit zoom when you push your mouse wheel down. then you can have it all on your mouse.

Thse techniques are not advanced at all, dont say I need to go and learn hl2dm terminology. They are quite simply performed, many intermediate players snd more experienced players would surely agree with me.

yea agreed, its more of just after you get used to the game, extra basic techniques, while speed orbing (i say speed orb) is vital even when u are advanced, u dont need to be advanced to do it.

You are not getting it...they are called this because of the history, not because of how hard or easy they are to do. Bunny-hopping is pretty easy also once someone shows you how, but it is still referred to as advanced movement. How long have you been playing btw?

Wow, normal magnum scoping. Here's what you REALLY need to do. Go to console and say "bind z toggle_zoom". this is MUCH better because the zoom TOGGLES, and you can shoot while still zoomed in! Easy magnum headshots!

DUDE the stupid thing is even though magnum sniping is pretty basic most players dnt even bother to use it. I think advanced techiniques would be like. repelling thrown objects with the gravity gun. i dnt mean just catching it and throwing it back. i meam just shooting it back on the fly. most players never do this. it soo catches them off guard but it takes sooooooo much practice and timing. i can barely do it. and no if you hold the trigger it doesnt work. try it out. =)

They are called advanced because they were originally documented in Gunslingers advanced techniques thread in SPUF, not because they are really hard to do. Maybe you are pro, or maybe not. It's one thing to do them, it's another entirely to do them well.

If u have ATI graphic card, you can download Steam from thier main website. I think the program checks if u have ATI card, so u can't cheat it :).

Insta catching can be very useful. I for example alt fire near somebody, kill him then take the orb back to use it in some place else where more people exist.... The fast orbs are useless in narrow corridors cuz even then some coffee geek would easily catch it(even these 'unnamed' people). The zoom is usefull but takes alot of time and concetration and is only suitable for camping. It can be however tamed to be used in close combat aswell but as I mentioned - it takes ALOT of concentration.

yea insta catch can be useful another way would be if you just walking and you run right into some on but it turns out to be your teamate that saves you from a team kill But fast orb is alot better then normal cuz the main reason is that they are hader to catch the person has got to be faster

They are not harder to catch... it's the same just with greater speed, meaning you must be always on watch, and with great reflexes and little response time. I caught alot of these, but at the same time I get owned by them triple times the quantity I ever caught. It's just cuz I get surprised all the time or killed while killing some one (aka stabed in the back).

The orb grab is pretty much useless as you could just fire it in what direction you wanted anyway using the 'Gun'.

Cool--this is my favorite online game. Should have included the grenade toss with grav gun--essential skill. Have u ever seen how to make a crossbow bolt creep along the floor?? =) No one said they were hard. The title was taken straight from the HL2DM-University website at the time of production.

The big thing is, they're techniques that someone just learning will have a hard time introducing into their skill set, things that will take some practice to get good at. Just because they're not godly-impossible to pull off doesn't mean they're not advanced.

Very informative for new players, but these techniques are fundamental, not advanced. "Advanced" techniques are things like crouch jumping, strafe jumping, bunny hopping, speedskating etc.; weapon combos (eg mag+shotty = death); strategy (pickups, camping sites, blind spots, routes etc.).
