Hey, don't get me wrong--I liked the Masters Saga a lot. But like I said, it did get dark and sad toward the end, what with Emerson dying (he was one of my favorite characters), Monument City being destroyed (I don't care about Leonard dying, but a lot of innocent civilians went with him), and Zor Prime's attempt-at-a-heroic-sacrifice that just made things worse. At least it wasn't as bad as the end of the Macross Saga where most of the core cast dies (curse you, Khyron!)

They're alive, don't worry. They took part in the battle between the Armies of the Southern Cross and the Invid. Later, they joined the underground resistance and eventually left Earth to meet up with Rick Hunter and company. Right now they're on their way back with Rick's fleet.

... and the Invid Saga was WAY too unrealistic, although I'm feeling the dreary post apocalyptic setting and dark tone set by it. The human drama of Macross is almost as rich as the technical aspects of the Zentraedi Armada. I also like the justification of building "convertible airplanes", as Min-Mei called them, as a necessity for CQB against the Zentraedi. Very logical, technically groundbreaking, and potentially brilliant film in the right hands ... in my opinion.

yea even in the dice and paper game they have very little anti-air even the bigger ships so yes they heavly relied on the alphas for air to air combat hell even the old veritechs the only anti-missile systems they had where there mini-missle systems and they head lasers mounted under the cockpit othere then that you had to dodge or go to battlord and shot them down with you gun pod and its still the same even with the new ones to they realy need to rething the ships load outs a bit lol

If your going to alter some of the sound effects such as the engines & guns, make sure it sounds better than the originals used, cause these new remastered sounds blow, The Alpha/Legioss always sounded bad-ass, now its sounds like a weakling & explosions sound like popcorn, what a shame! @bloat3d Listen to the dialogue in the scene, Mars Squad was being completely overwhelmed in orbit and Scott's ship had two choices; go back and be killed by the Invid (which the Commander recognized), or risk it all the way through to Earth. They chose the latter and just as Scott feared, it didn't pay off, so we can see how much of a lose-lose situation this was. But Scott did make it through, even if he was the lone 21st Combat Squad survivor, he carried out his team's mission.

He watched the woman he loved die in front of him, and there was nothing he could do about it. When I first saw this 25 years ago, I felt like my heart was being ripped from my heart. This was a great series. This was one you had to watch non stop. If you missed one episode you were in trouble. Not too many cartoons out there like that now. I think it would have to be rated R, because there's too much death and destruction. I suppose pg-13 would be possible, but it would be tricky. Business wise pg-13 would seem more practical.

I think that the series should stand alone. A movie would ruin the fan-base. People would start watching Robotech and Super Dimension Fortress Macross for the sake out of interest of the movie and not out of the love of the show. It would also be one of those instances where it make animation an inferior form of story telling. I don't think that live action movie is the ultimate form of story telling.

Here's what going to happen:

Sooner or later some company is going to make a live action Robotech movie, and whether or not it's a good movie in itself, the hardcore Robotech fans will hate it because it won't be exactly like the TV series. If you don't believe me, look at how hardcore Transformers, G.I. Joe and Dragon Ball fans reacted when those movies came out. It's what always happens. It would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic.

That may be so, but I think you'll find that particularly harsh reviews of those films were written by fans of the original series. Many fans are rational, open-minded people, but those that wrote the bad reviews seem to consider the original series some kind of sacred truth and any adaptation that differs from them blasphemy. For example: One review of the Dragon Ball movie first listed differences between the film and the original, then said the filmmakers should be burned alive.

Great memories! I still have the cyclone motorcycle which includes Scott Bernard that my mom bought me when I was a young teenager. It's somewhat broken since the Cyclone has alot of delicate parts and the transformation is very manually tediuos that if you're not careful you can easily break a part since most of it is composed of plastic and a little metal. For me Robotech was the best cartoon series in the 80's. G.I. Joe cartoon was good but Robotech art/anime was waaaay better hands down.

I like the series better as independent ones as the link between them is not very strong. They do not show wreckage or even one aged character from previous wars. But they are also similarly drawn and it is sort of nice to bring together. This was a huge part of my childhood.
