  • Grüße Fräulein, Sturm-Verbot-Führer, ask it whether it has garbo in it

  • AMAZING. God bless the USCG.

  • ship out to boot camp in 29 days!

  • @MrMrjwoo Best of luck to you!

  • Song?! I love this video and really want to know the song.

    Thanks!

  • this all looks cute.but fishing boats are towing drug torpedos behind them coming from Mexico , if they are stopped they release the line and come back later to recover the drugs. stop using hand me downs from the 70s.

  • Go Guard!!! The real GUARD, THE COAST GUARD

  • i'm joining the us coast guard the day i turn 18

  • The Coast Guard deserves more praise and respect!

  • god bless us coast guard

  • whatever you do don't join the military

  • @Alba12349 troll! why would you be watching a military video then ? rofl, loser man..

  • @nickdrowe

you calling me loser? haha. ye ok. have a good time in the military killing innocent people and licking your commanders butthole everyday.

  • @Alba12349 Not only are you a loser... but you're stupid.. The coast guard doesn't kill people, they do the opposite... SAVE LIVES.

  • @nickdrowe

whatever retard. I never mentioned the coast guard specifically

  • I served in the Army, 4 yrs 3 mos 2 days. I shot cannons and kept Kansas awake at night.

Then I served in the Coast Guard 5 yrs 2 days. I rode out "The Perfect Storm" searching for a fishing boat lost at sea on the USCGC Northland (WMEC904); Then I served on the USCGC Gallatin (WHEC721) and hunted and captured drug smugglers then rescued Haitian immigrants sailing on unseaworthy vessels on the same day in the Caribbean Sea; among other unsaid operations.

The Army was easy by comparison.

  • I joined Oct of 1998, and back then it was very easy. The hardest part was staying awake during the classroom sessions. Not much physical training then. To anyone nervous going in, its not as hard as you think. But better than anyother Branch.

  • I served my 4 years and I can tell you the Coast Guard is not for he faint of heart. Consider this. The first year the Coast Guard was allowed to enter into UN Navy seal training, a program that has a 90% drop out rate, 4 coasties went in, 1 dropped out, one got halted due to injuries, and 2 graduated. That's pretty impressive! Right now there are 3 coastie seals. Coasties have nothing to prove, we put ourselves in harms way so other may live. Inter-branch rivalry is fine, but keep it in check!

  • im about to be a senior in high school and i am trying so hard to get into the coast guard academy. good video.

  • People who are against the USCG are people who did NOT qualify for it. I qualified. You need the highest score on the ASVAB, its the second toughest bootcamp of all services, so the ones who hate it, are the ones who dont qualify

  • @nashfire56 The USCG was also a integral part of the Vietnam war, and is very prominant in Afghanistan. All of the branches cooperate to get things done, and all are the elite of the US.

  • US coast guard is underrated

  • I am British English - God Bless America - Our friends across the Ocean

  • Great video. I am going to be 27 in a few weeks and I'm seriously considering joining the coast guard. If anyone has information that could be useful to me, please respond.

  • @rohr842003 i just hit my 1 year mark active duty. research it! it is not all saving lives and busting drugs. i upkeep and replace buoys, piant and clean. some people spend their whole career without going on a boat or aircraft. the guard is what u make of it. soon im going to ast a-school and then ill get to work with helicopters and do search and rescue cases. u have to do ur time doing grunt work, but overall u lose some individualsim and freedom, but get paid well and a chance to do good

  • What hipsters...the white belts, the ascots...come on ;-)

    SEMPER PARATUS!!!

  • 2:22 what is that mean? why they do that?

  • @natsanty1 Its symbolic of the control they have over their weapons, and the mental and physical discipline they underwent to become what they are. Semper Paratus.

  • Great video and brought tears to my eyes. Our son served in the Coast Guard and created the man he is today. Semper Paratus good men and women of the United States Coast Guard. We proudly support the USCG with license plates of both vehicles "front and back." God bless all those serving today and thanks to those that served in the past. You make us proud to be Americans ... Semper Paratus ... Jack Bennings, Fort Lauderdale, FL

  • To anyone that says the Coast Guard is a bunch of pussies and doesn't do anything let me put it to you like this: On board a ship of any other branch than the Coast Guard there are at least 9,000 people each with one job they do once every few days, on board a Coast Guard ship there are only about 400 people and each has 23 jobs to do DAILY. Coasties are not masters of one trade but jacks of many, we are small but we are mighty. Go Coast Guard! **Shipping out to boot camp in August!!

  • @nsallen92 i couldnt agree more.i am strongly against people who hate branches they aren't in, maybe because they are unhappy of what they were qualified for, idk but i am certainly proud of all military but coast guard in particular with an approximate total of about 46,000 active duty. while the Army recruits over 80,000 a YEAR. Power in Numbers or Power in Strength. i just have one tip for you spend as much time with ur family before basic as you can, my brother left for USCG basic yesterday.

  • @nsallen92 No, they aren't a bunch of pussies. They have respectable jobs, but the people at the very top need to wake the fuck up. I would have loved to join the Coast Guard, but they'd rather do affirmative action- take people who have a very good chance of being unqualified, over someone like me...who IS qualified, but takes ocd medicine. They think I'll go psycho or something. That's never once happened. So what about those who smoke and might have a nic-fit?

  • @nsallen92 I think you're figures are off.

    1. There is not ship in the navy that has a 9000 crew nor is there a ship in the Coast Guard that has 400 crew

    2. Most ships in The Navy have about 300- 400 crew Aircraft carriers have much more Large Cast Guard Cutters have about 115 - 150 crew

    3. The daily at sea routines of The Navy and The Coast Guard are virtually identical

    4. Both branches have different missions

    5. I served on a USN ship that had a crew of 33 and we were ocean going

  • @nsallen92 Not even close to 400. The '378's or the Hamilton Class has a Complement of only 167. The new Maritime Security Cutters the '418's only have a Complement of Complement: 113.

  • i leave june 7th

this has to be the secondbest decision of my life (the first was going back to college and finishing my degree!)

  • @cascade559 yo i leave June 7th too! maybe we will be in the same company

  • Hell yea laving may 17th from Houston Texas now you wanna talk about being the odd man out in a room that was me at meps

  • Pretty sure all the dumb asses bashing didn't qualify.

  • I ship out to cape may in June! Can't wait. Epic video. All I can say is get in shape people!

  • What is up with people dissing others branches. Its all under one Flag, One Country, and One Commander and Chief. We are in it together no matter the branch of service. You guys imagine our state borders and seas non patrolled or not receiving the humanitarian service they offer when a tornado or hurricane destroys your home and city. Be thankful that others are out there to a job that you are not undertaking.

    HN FMF USN

  • O C MON THERE RECRUITS STOP COMPAIRING THEM TO USMC SDP!!!!!!!

  • For anyone who says coast guard is lame your just a ignorant MW2 Playing ass hole who sits on his ass! THEY ARE IN THE ARMED FORCES, HELL ATLEAST GIVE THEM SOME RESPECT!

  • @boorpo Thank You!!!USCG Capt. retired

  • Will being a certfied firefighter help me in the coast guard?

  • @JsonAre Not likely. As a firefighter you're performing rescues usually on dry land, sometimes in rivers and lakes. In the coast guard you're doing it out on the high seas in the middle of a hurricane...Plus intercepting drug runners in the dark of night...Whole new ballgame.

  • Just got Processed through L.A. MEPS today for becoming a coastie. Looking around I was amazed and honored that I was one of very few Coast Guard Being processed. The Coast Guard is no joke, they are an elite group that you have to earn your way into. But at the same time we do our part as does every other branch. I go to basic in May, and afterwards I train in Maritime Enforcement. I cannot wait for the priviledge of protecting our beautiful country.

  • @dirtbikecaboose

Just got Processed through Anchorage MEPS yesterday. I am also trying to go to basic in may.

  • DC2 1984-88 X-118, stayed in Munro Hall, BM1 Stott was my DI. Went to Icebreaker Support Facility (ISF) in Seattle, we became Ship Support Facility, Then Ship Repair Detachment, Plank owner of 2 units inside 4 years. Struck an made rate as a Damage Controlman, I never got to go to sea on a Red Boat, did my sea time on the Citrus out of Coos Bay Oregon. If you doubt the USCG, Douglas Munro Signalman 1st Class USCG Med of Honor for actions in Guadal Canal saving Marines.

    So that others may live

  • @MrJschell66 BM1 Stott was my CC. X-117 SCD 1984. He was the best CC on those grounds in 1984. I think of him often.

  • @miyan12 I often think of my fellow Coasties as well as BM1 Stott, Eyes in the Boat!!!!!

  • This almost made me tear :D song please :)

  • The Guard has changed dramatically over the last 50 years. You had the "old" Guard, 1950-1960 made up of salts (tough, seasoned sailors) and then it got soft 1961-1970. Since then the demands on the guard have increased and it has risen to the challenge. I'm proud to have served in the Guard. Sempre Paratus.

  • 2:13 whats the point of that. that looks weird

  • People, if you think that the drill may have been a bit sloppy consider this. They are in recruit training and were civilians just 8 short weeks ago. Give em credit. If you want to see perfection search uscg honor guard. Anybody who's thinking about joining, JUST DO IT. I graduated as part of ECHO 184. You would not believe the feeling of accomplishment and pride at graduation. Great video.

  • Nostalgic! You bet. Left college, enlisted in CG '57 with K-32, then ET school, graduated CGA '62 finished career in '89. Served with some of the finest, most dedicated people in this country. I remain in awe and proud of their unselfishness, dedication and accomplishments of those who served and are now serving. Over the years I have been thankful for and humbled by the sacrifices willing made by their families so Coasties, man or woman, could devote full attention to the task at hand. GO CG!

  • As proud as i am of our coast guard, the drill was less than spectacular.

  • @jradownz

They are recruits!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was the Drill Master in this video and believe me this team was one of my worst. HOWEVER, they are only recruits. i hate to say that because these recruits were great but you cant win them all...

  • @spcoastie understandable, but even still i believe it could have looked better

  • @jradownz no trust me you are completely right. I just think its funny how a lot of ignorant people from the USMC and civilians come on here and bash these recruits. They learned this routine in 5 weeks and this was my first performance. So this team was trained by someone else...I still cant believe I didnt catch a bayonette to the throat. lol. take it easy bud.

  • @spcoastie xD im in a navy jrotc

  • I filled out everythin online and im still waiting for a call. I have called them today saying that i wanted to meet but can never get a hold of an actually person all i do is just leave a message beverytime.

  • Help I wanna join the cg message me I'm 18 about to graduate high school need advice

  • @zachmacdonald loved it! The hardest part is figuring out what you want to specialize in. Find out what REALLY interests YOU and go for it. Rescue swimmer, air support, mechanics, electricians, electronics, weapons, rescue. In the Coast Guard, you can specialize but you may be used in other capacities. I was a mechanic on our ship. I was also called upon for search and rescue and law enforcement duties as well. A friend of mine was on an Ice breaker ship and saw the world!

  • @RythmandStrings so should i just go to a recruiter?

  • @zachmacdonald Go talk. But find out what path you want to take. Law Enforcement, Flying, Rescue, Mechanics...the list goes on. It's important that you pick something YOU are interested in. The other thing you need to do is get everything your recruiter says you will be doing in writing with his signature. Let's say you want to be a helicopter mechanic and he tells you "no problem". Then you find yourself as a deck hand out at sea for a few months at a time. All branches of the military do this

  • @RythmandStrings okay and can colorblind people still join any restrictions

  • @zachmacdonald Check with your local recruiter, I'm sure there are in electrical and electronics due to dolor codes of wiring and componants.

  • @zachmacdonald There may be some in electrical fields due to the color coding of wiring, resistors and components. You'll need to check with your local recruiter. No matter what any recruiter of any branch tells you, get EVERYTHING in writing before you sign anything

  • @zachmacdonald you could be a Damage Controlman. its not a big deal to be colorblind. allot of DC's are...

  • @guzziriderjr thanks man

  • @RythmandStrings how in shape do you have to be?

  • Still love this video!!! My son was in the ceremonial at his graduation. Completely awesome!!

  • Go Coast Guard!!!

  • I got to see the graduation ceremony at Cape May. It was really neat! My bro was on the colorguard team. I believe thats what its called for Coasties.

  • good piont nashfire56. i'll keep that in mind

  • U.S. Coast guard you guys are badass!

  • I think it's represented by all the tricks of the U.S. Coast Guard ... my respect for the guys every day you live life for other people to sacrifice

  • Streetpartying parties too much. The Coast Guard is ALWAYS part of the five (5) Armed Forces. It's only NOAA and USPHS that are only Uniformed Service. Get the facts straight before you post them.

  • every video in youtube that contains military branch like the marines, coast guard, army, airforce, and navy are the best videos why? because they try to show the good and the bad side of the military but at the end, whats most important is the brotherhood that the armed forces carried for gerneration. This video is great needs more work on the audio and the volume, and also the composition but overall u did great man. Keep it up!

  • this is the worse CG video i almost fell asleep horrible editing

  • you know i was considering going to the marine corps, but after that vid i cant dicide coast gaurd or marine corps.

  • @Alienrambo1993 its hard to choose, if u look at each branch they are all good, but just ask your self alot of question, maybe you'll find out which branch u want to join.

  • @Alienrambo1993 if you like to sand and paint or wipe up oil go for the coast guard

  • @Alienrambo1993 only real men join the MARINE CORPS only pussys join coast gaurd

  • @nashfire56 I would rather save lives instead of taking them away regardless of how I am treated I probably won't be able to become a rescue swimmer for the navy or coast guard but I can still offer my help.Semper fi is getting ruined by kids, people who want to be or become marines because more than likely if you were one you would not be posting offensive questions against another branch or disgracing the corps.Be a asshole all you want there will always be someone better than you.

  • @nashfire56 Hey son, tell me about it AFTER you finish a few Bering Sea patrols. Talk is cheap, son. Next time you see some Coasties on the street, call them pussies. Then call an ambulance. I was in Kodiak on Bering Sea patrols in the sixties. Huge seas, huge problems, rescues in terrifying situations. When everybody else goes IN, the Coast Guard goes OUT. Go try it. Until then, stfu. Nothing against the Marines or any US branch of the service. WE are all in this thing together.

  • @kpls72 I was there, know the feeling. I come from a family of Mariens, however have respect more so of being a coastie. I was a LTJG when I went in due to a degree from college, came home Capt. having command was great. I miss being rescue swim, and will go toe to toe with anyone that calls us pussies!!! I may have been a woman in command but by God I earned it. You are right the Bering Sea sucked!

  • @kpls72 Amen. Fresh out of bootcamp and had to go to Navy Firefighting school at Treasure Island, San Francisco. First thing I heard was a joke from the Navy instructor, saying "What happens when a Coast Guard ship catches fire? They jump on the pier and call 911.". In those two days of school, we kicked their asses in training and the instructor apologized at the end of training. And I won't bring up REFTRA San Diego. I wouldn't want to embarass the Navy again. That is how we roll...

  • @keleran

You forgot to mention that when a Navy ship catches fire or as in one instance, hit a whale, they call the Coast Guard to save them. We also spearheaded the Navy boarding teams on the USS Deyo off the coast of Bosnia in 1994. Never forget that the Navy used a picture of a Coastie aviator during Katrine Ops as their recruiting ad. I wish I had a buck for every Navy sailor that said "I wish I had joined the Coast Guard.)

  • @nashfire56 And ignorant 12 year olds say something like that....Dont dis any branch

  • "the puddle pirate coast guard"!!!

  • I am guessing you have to have like hardly no problems at all to become a rescue swimmer right? It sucks arse being in a family who has mostly served in the Navy and has had amazing accomplishments and then I come along with seizures, scoliosis and mental problems. To this day I still have some of my family saying I would make a good marine saying nothing is impossible.Unfortunately for me the law and military makes things impossible for me and many people.Idk what I am going to do with my life...

  • Comment removed

  • ugh so hard to choose what to go into!!!!!

  • Go Navy Marines and Coast Guard.

  • @NCsqrlkiller the coast guard isn't a branch of the military, it's a branch of the uniformed services

  • semper paratus

  • Coast Guard is lame.

  • @fbkrazy56 fuck you, they protect our nations doorstep and are homeland security, they do more than your lazy ass

  • @fbkrazy56 what you'll say when your drowning and you need help my friend.

  • Just to those people out there who think the Coast Guard is nothing and isn't part of the military, they have a different mission. Instead of taking lives, they save them. And If you think the Coast Guard is worthless, next time you fall of a boat, or your boat's engine stops working, guess who's going to be there. The Coast Guard. They deserve all of our respect.

  • What is the ceremony/drill movement at 1:20? Why are they all pointing their rifles at that man? What does this symbolise?

  • @lukefromdownunder It symbolizes trust, how many people would you trust to thrust a sharp blade that close to your face?

  • @tajray that's quite symbolic. It looks kind of od. Trustworthy or not, I wouldn't want a gun pointed at me by anyone

  • video done very well mind if i use this in my research paper? i wish to be a coast guard swimmer.

  • very well done!!!

  • coast guard i respect but i hate their uniforms lol.

  • You probably shouldn't put drill in slow motion because it is easier to see if they mess up.

  • Honor, Respect, Devotion to Duty! DELTA 183!!

  • pretty good silent drill, but u gotta admit marine silent drill is better

  • ahh memories,

that guy looked like cheif Ruchster, GOLF 159 here

  • i wasnt able to qualify for the Army or airforce but i did qualify for the coast guard

  • @darknight760 I highly doubt that considering we are the most selective branch of the five military services. Right now there is over a year wait to get an active duty billet. Not trying to start a pissing match because I highly respect all branches, but I have a hard time believing your statement.

  • @NCsqrlkiller thank god we are so selective. dont want freakin idiots running around us.

  • @darknight760 in which way

  • I was in drill team when I went through in December of 2008! I remember doing all of that! God bootcamp was the best and I would do it all over again! Not a bad job with the video. What company was that? I was X-180

  • Semper Paratus

  • We are so proud of our Godson, Matthew Brady! We also love watching this video... it is so incredible. "Semper Paratus" (Always Ready) !!!!!!

  • hooraahh.to all coast guard around the world....

    -from mmea-

  • Thanks. From an ex-coastie

  • daughter is a dive officer in the CG heading for the Gulf. She started out as an enlisted CG and did the Cape May boot camp then transferred to the academy. This video is too awesome. I wish I had seen it years ago. Edelweissnpa doesn't get the learn to think under extreme stress thing. I only hope Coasties are around when big time chaos happens. Would bet Edelweissnpa would wet him/herself rather than get the situation under control and people safe. Yeah Coast Guard. Thanks for the video

  • You did a great job on this video. Then drill is awesome. Thanks!

  • awesome music. love it

  • Why do people sign up to be in this kind of shit? It has to be the financial situation and benefits only, because putting up with all that shit would get old quick. Basic training is all brainwashing and indoctrination bullshit.

  • @edelweissnpa you obviously know NOTHING about being in the military..you needa shut your face!!! & show sum respect, punk.

  • @edelweissnpa If it weren't for these people doing "this shit" then you wouldn't have the freedom to be sitting in front of your computer typing your disrespectful comments.

  • @edelweissnpa You asshole.

  • I love this video. The music is perfect. My son was on the ceremonial drill team in his graduating company in March of this year. It was the most awesome thing to watch. He was honored to be chosen and took pride in it. Now he's in MLE "A" school and loving it. Love the USCG!!! SEMPER PARATUS!

  • Proud to be a part of the team. Semper Paratus! ("Always Ready").

  • i just joined the coast guard !!!!

  • To grad do you HAVE to do the rifle thing

  • Navy cough cough (-;

  • @basiccardflourishes gay cough :)

  • thank you for posting this,

    it's awesome!

    USCG November 161 March 2002!!!

    Semper Paratus Coasties!!!

  • May I ask something? Is it alright for me to join the Coast Guard? When I say this, I mean I really wanna feel good about myself. My dad was in the army ever since I was little, and we went around the world. I went to germany twice :)

  • I am way to old and way to fat now. Went through Army boot camp 40 years ago, went on to be a Paratrooper....but if I could go back in time, I would want to sign up with these guys !! Outstanding !! This gives me goosebumps !!! My nephew goes to CG basic in a month, I am so excited for him !!!

  • Is anyone else tired of hearing that the coast guard is whimpy? They all say they dont fight any combat and yes u wanna no y? Everyone is so afraid of these epic badasses guarding our shore they dont wanna come near! GO COAST GUARD

  • Nice Vid ~ S-172

  • The Company Commander in this video that is yelling in the beginning is Chief Thompson. He rocks. I just went through USCG Boot Camp in December to January with company Tango-182, so send me a personal message if you want to know anything about it or being in the Coast Guard, i'd be glad to help out a future shipmate.

  • GO GUARD !

  • i'm already 17 and i know when i get out of high school the coast guard is where i'm going everyone in my family has been t=in the other parts of military right now my brother is serving in th us marine corps and no one in my family has been in the coast guard so thats what i'm doing

  • @CoastGuardUSA I'm gonna finish college first so I can be a Med officer, I'm planning to serve either the US Coast Guard or the US Navy, I can't really make up my mind.

  • Im gonna go into the coast guard when im 17 and out of higschool cause i heard you get good benifits and they pay part of you college tution. I have a manuel to meet up to the requirments t become a coast guard.

  • You might as well kid. There aren't many other options out here these days. Jobs with good bennies are getting harder and harder to come by.

  • i am going to join the coast guard when i get out of high school. and heard about the DEP program but i am not really sure what it is.

  • Environmental protection!!

  • thats exactly what i'm doing, i'm about to graduate and I'm doing the DEP which is delayed enlistment, where you can postpone your training up to a year so you can mentally and physically prepare yourself

  • Were those actual bayonet's on the rifles?

  • Yes.

  • yup

  • India 169 hoo rahh...Im out now though...been out for a year!

  • Happy New Year 2010 to you all !
