  • Awesome! What kind of university I have to go to in order to get this kind of lectures? I am enrolling immediately!!!

  • If it took e=mc2 to discover nukes, then it would have taken e=mc2 to discover fire.

  • Ehhh they ain't so smart. Can't even find the backbeat! ;-)

  • >clapping on 1 and 3

  • I really liked the song and would buy the album as well. I liked the fact that the words were written so you could sing along. Einstein is my Favorite physicist. I am glad that MIT stands by the original Hawking equation which describes how things evaporate or disappear.

  • the only slightly jarring note was when they said that everything is relative, but other than that, good stuff.

  • now this is a wonderful class :~)

  • "We've decided our role should be to reach new depths in neekdom." Gosh I'd love to be taught by this guy! If only all revision lessons were that fun.Good thing rhythm is relative though!

  • pure genius !! i wish lessons in my university here in Italy would be the same ..ahahaha

  • Wonderful song, all relativity in a nutshell + multiverse idea at the end :-)

  • FAIL CLAPPING!!

  • FAIL CLAPPING!!

  • okay about "8.033", everything at MIT is numbered including department. So "8" signifies the course number for the Department of Physics, and ".033", is the course number for the class on relativity

  • Whats funnie is how a theory is quoted as law..even when at the end, espically concerning quantum mechanics/physics, Einstein said he was completly off as it was just him having fun with his imagination. Its to bad so many scientists are to anal to admitting to have one of those anymore. Its like cable internet, still a COMPLETE theory but becuase someone has turned that theory into a working theory, we eat it like pie......is there ANY hope for us.

  • Who cares is relativity is a theory or a law? It's the only workable explanation for much of what we observe, and it hasn't yet been contradicted.

Without Einstein's insights, your GPS would be inaccurate. This is because the flow of time is different for the satellites orbiting the planet and the observers on Earth, as the satellites move faster and are subjected to weaker gravity.

It's not just a wild theory, it's predictive and necessary. And "cable internet" is a technology, not a theory.

  • @scotchfaster ...actualy, you would have to blame Newton and Gallelio (sorry if my spelling is off)...and there is ALOT to be said about something existing as theory this long...and no one has considered that Einstein himself came up with this imagining what it would be like if he was riding on the tip of a beam of light...in other wrods, I dont think hes wrong, most just dont realize its from the observervational point of view.

  • @HyJaxLTD

You don't understand the difference between a law and theory. It makes me lol.

  • I hope they come up with more such stuff for other MIT physics courses as well.

  • lollll

  • only because we are still chasing what Eisnstien said did not actualy occur but in his imagination.

  • what do they mean with 8.033??

  • Can someone please explain the significance of 8.033?

  • Hmm maybe it's the class number.

  • You got it. 8.033 is the catalog number of MIT's course on . . . Relativity, of course.

  • We all live in a yellow submarine, I mean...We all believe in relativity :P

  • listen to the clapping. Of the many things physicists have, rhythm is not one. Although i suppose it's all relative.

  • who cares?

  • Rhythm is relative.

  • They want to avoid resonance which could destroy the building o.O

  • @youxinxmotion Yeah, from the right reference frame those claps are simultaneous!

  • @youxinxmotion Lol, epic fail :-)

  • speechless!

  • genius

  • simply awesome!!!!

  • oh max.

  • Awesome song! :-)

  • it just needs some ... :)

  • LAME

  • That was awesome!!!

  • ahahahhahah

  • CONGRATS to proff Max Tegmark & Tali Figueroa !!!

  • Yellow Submarine mixad's kkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Wonderful, your video brought a tear to my eye. I wish my university were more like MIT. If thought can set us free, then why do people still turn to the outdated "Universal" "Law" of Gravity? We ought to side with Malankovic and begin to better our understanding of the driver in fluxations experienced btw the earth-sun relationship, Insolation. Maybe then, we can out do, with excitement of magnetic proportions, the futile attempts to bridge the gap between mater and light. Anisotropy=EM?

  • I'd buy the album! What a wonderful song. :)

  • i thought I would never see this again :)

  • omg

  • Awesome !

  • Awesome song! :-)

  • I wish I was the tutor of this course! Would've added some percussions as well!
