Wasn't that, like, the ONLY time Tommy ever piloted the Dragonzord from the cockpit? I know he usually just played the Dragon Dagger and it did what he said...

No. He used it three times. There, when he fought Rhinoblaster, and during the cyclops fight.

He used it only twice, here and in Football Season, Tommy wasn't a Ranger during the battle with Cyclops since it was before Return Of An Old Friend.

Which was the monster that made them think it as the Dragonzord?

There was Cyclops and Cyclopsis.

One was Goldar's war zord, which the rangers fought after Tommy was no longer on the team for a while, and the other was an actual living cyclops monster which the rangers included Tommy fought in this episode with the candle.

The name of which was with puzzles me because both names are similar, but one goes to one, and one goes to the other.

Anyway, he only used the cockpit twice.

I don't remember which episodes exactly, but Tommy did pilot the dragonzord in a few other episodes.

They really need to do a DVD release of this show, it is long overdue.
