It's probably oke for light ofroading but who would take it for hardcore ofroading? Too pretty, too expensife. Just buy a ragged KTM for such stuff, those are great for doing just that. This bike is probably more of a cruiser but with sporty touches. If I get rich i'll buy one next to a 1198S.

I'd rather have a 848 or a 1098. I wouldn't want to take my duke trail riding. Its honestly not worth 20 grand when you could get a descent 848 for half the price. This multistrada doesn't really have a place in the market then because how many people are going to go long distance and off road riding on a sport bike? If someone is gonna take a sport bike on a long distance trip then they're just begging for their backs to be thrown out. And for off road, this thing doesn't look like its capable.

@buttnut1080 Well, the driving stance of this bike is far from sporty. It's a more straight-up enduro. So it should be pretty comfy on the long rides.

@THEBADDESTBUGOWNER Having ridden a GS 1200 and read reviews for this, I'd say I'd probably rather have this bike if I had scads of money. More power, amazingly more technology, and it looks 3 million times sexier.
