  • I always considered "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"/"Diamonds Are Forever"/"Live And Let Die" a cool sort of trilogy.

  • Marie: Is there something I can do for you?

James Bond: As a matter of fact, there is... there's something I'd like you to get off your chest.

Lazenby should have delivered that line.

  • I can't believe they actually considered casting Burt Reynolds to be Bond! Thats like taking a Chevrolet Corvette and rebadging it as an Aston Martin. Any way it sucks that Mankiewicz and Hamilton made DAF into such a joke. Tiffany Case in the film is a complete waste of space and an utter nuisance compared to her novel counterpart. Charles Grey completely ruined Blofeld. Bleh. Oh well. At least John Barry's score was amazing

  • This trailer alone is far better than DAF...

  • PB just didn't connect with me. Bond has to be charismatic. Connery had it in his first five films. Lazenby had it in OHMSS. There is a heck of a difference between having an attitude and being charismatic. I don't think Dalton, or Brosnan ever understood that. Even if EON had kept John Gavin or hired Michael Billington I think that the series would have fared better than the lack luster performance given by SC in DAF, and all the RM films. We finally have the right Bond who needs a GREAT film

  • @AVPhoenix1980 Dalton's Bond was a hard-edged bastard. Exactly what Fleming intended.

  • Excellent! If only things had gone differently. Lazenby could have been Bond thru the 90's

  • @AVPhoenix1980 but that would mean peirce wouldnt of been bond and he was one of if not the best

  • Moore does not deserve the embarrassment of being in Diamonds! Bond is roger moore not Connery... thankgod he took over during LALD Not DAF!

  • Yes Peter Hunt and George Lazenby should've done this film, but they shouldve also brought back Telly Savalas or an intimidating Blofeld at least! Connery should never have been bought back as throughout the entire film he's blatantly bored! I would like to of seen the original proposed fight to the death in a salt mine.

On the subject of Spectre they were also considering originally having Stromberg as a member, but due to the Kevin McCLory lark they couldn't.

  • OK folks: THE 4 best Bond films are: From Russia With Love, OHMSS, The Spy Who Loved Me and..... Licence To KIll :-)

  • @Kihotay Licence to Kill is terrible. The other three are masterpieces.

  • @LightStijn "License to Kill" was Fleming's Bond. No jokes. No Toys. Just fists and groin kicks.

  • @nbelsky what about casino royale (2006)

  • If George Lazenby and Peter Hunt had stayed on for DAF it would have been excellent. Diamonds are Forever is merely a follow-up to the over-done sets and wild plots from "You Only Live Twice". After OHMSS, DAF was a let-down,

  • Very well done. I've always loved OHMSS and was extremely disappointed that DAF was such a lousy follow up to that great story. If any of the films could be remade with Craig in the role, I would say those two films would be awesome with his approach. And maybe finally we would get an appropriate end to Blofeld no less, as him being dropped into a smoke stack in FYEO was beyond stupid.

  • @alucard624

I think Blofeld's death in FYEO was a lot better than how it was in DAF. I guess Blofeld died when the oil rig blew up but Bond didn't get to face him one-on-one. Roger Moore actually one ups Connery but dropping him the smokestack.

  • @ELO1138 True, at least Roger Moore got to finish him off face to face in FYEO. Still, the way he did it was downright silly and stupid, but that was typical of Moore's era, even though most of the rest of that film is actually really good and played fairly serious as far as his film's went.

  • @ELO1138 I agree. It's ironically Moore's Bond/ era that finally makes reference to Tracy..... first in Spy Who Loved Me "Wife Killed". Moore reacts brilliantly "Alright, you've made your point" etc... and then obviously in FYEO with Tracy's grave and Blofield's final demise. So yeah, MOORE wipes SPECTRE out. Brilliant :-)

  • @Kihotay Yep, I did like his painful reaction to the mention of Tracy in TSWLM. Very well acted, and the laying of flowers at her grave in FYEO was well done too.

  • @alucard624 I hate to give Moore credit, but FYEO was one of the best Bond films.

  • @Kihotay In "License ti Kill" very specific reference is made:

Della Leiter: Did I say something wrong?

Felix Leiter: He was married once. But it was a long time ago.

  • @alucard624 if you wanna good follow up to OHMSS then read the novel YOLT becuase bond is brokenhearted and wants to kill blofeld and avenge Tracy but you should read it cause i don't wanna give the ending to YOLT novel

  • @32newspaper I actually read both OHMSS and YOLT after I had seen the films and loved both of them, especially the book version of YOLT. Very surreal, with the whole Garden of Death stuff. The ending was great too. It really felt like there was closure to the whole Bond versus Blofeld story, which frankly the movies didn't do all that well. I would love to see a remake of both of those films with Craig as Bond as I think he could bring justice to both stories.

  • It's not just Lazenby that should have done Diamonds. Peter Hunt would have had to be part of the mix too. I know lots of people like the Guy Hamilton / Tom Mankiewicz comic direction the series took in the early 1970's, but I dislike it myself. Terence Young or Peter Hunt would have made it a better film. And another thing, Blofeld has got to be played serious. Not as a cartoonish villain.

  • @FansFiltration I agree. I wished that the crew who worked on OHMSS did DAF, especially Peter Hunt and cinematographer Michael Reed who Hunt called "the unsung hero of OHMSS". Of the 60's bond films FRWL and OHMSS were the best looking in terms of style. I think with a introduction to more serious Bond by Craig, Lazenby and Dalton's films are now getting recognition for being ahead of their time. Their films were serious in a time when all audiences cared about were gadgets and overtop villains.

  • While DAF would've been better with Lazenby, it probably would've been worse if Lazenby looked and fought like that.

  • This is what should have happened.

  • Diamonds are Forever always felt like a Roger Moore film to me (and yea i do know that was before his time as bond)

  • You hav got a good point but i did like diamonds are forever and i didn't really like OHMSS.
