Lovely song, It was also played at the end luckily I recorded the film and saved it, I tried all over the place to get the sound track but to no avail why it was never release I don't know, I feel that it would have been a hit as a single, it's nice to see it up on youtube.
I love this film and this song. It reminds me of my grandparents who danced at the Ocean Park pier in Santa Monica before it was Pacific Ocean Park (which is part of the opening photos and is a mistake, that park opened in the late 1950s). Their song was "I'll Be Seeing You", I cry at the end of the film because they are both gone now.
This song is so beautiful, I never get tired of listening to it. Peter Allen was an amazing songwriter. You never even have to see the movie, the melody and lyrics tell the whole story. Pam
Hi y'all fans of Crlee and thanks to DaveCotton....appreciate the comment.
Great cinematography! & wonderful music, just a little film that memorably portrays what we thought those years were like @ home in the US. Good acting by Ed Harris and all!
My favorite line is How do you know the Japanese won't invade us and Ed Harris replied Because the fishing off the Santa Monica pier is lousy this year.
My parents were from the greatest generation to sacrifice and saved the world.
This movie reminds me of so many people I grew up around and those bold and brassy dames from that era.
Goldie and Christine Lahti were simply the best for this movie
Hi, Artiefun! It actually is one of her Greatest Hits Album "Clouds In My Coffee." It is not EXACTLY the same as the one in the movie, but the changes are minor. You can download this from a lot of the more popular MP3 sites as a single song. Take care and thanks for posting!
Thanks for posting this video. I always loved this song. I remember that when I viewed the movie, I rewound the end countless times to see the visuals and listen to the song over and over again.. Then couldn't find it, but it stayed in my mind. Question: Is it the same song at the end of the movie? ...I don't know if this song is repeated when final credits roll. Thank you again Comrade74.
Hi, Excelsiorinmiami! Yes I am fairly certain it is playing when the credits roll as well. Thank you for the comments and I am very happy you enjoy this as much as I do! Take care - Comrade
i've always loved this movie. it's touching. and this song is SO pretty and sad. was it nominated for a best original song oscar? it certainly enhanced the movie.
Fantastic song - have bought the DVD of the video via Amazon in order to listen to the title song. Wish someone would publish the piano sheet music version! (8 April 2008)
i LOVE this song and movie...another trivia tidbit about this film is that Belinda Carlisle plays the singer in the scene where Goldie's character meets Kurt's and sings a song called "The Magic Of You"...both Belinda's and Caly's songs are GREAT! I'm still waiting for the Belinda song to become available...but i am happy that Carly's song is also available!
Great movie, great theme song. Sadly, the movie was a box office flop. If it had been successful there would have been a soundtrack album and perhaps the record label would have worked this single harder. This track is included on Carly's Clouds In My Coffee 3 CD boxed set. Those of you who have not seen Swing Shift check it out. I think it is one of Goldie's best films.
I introduced my father to this movie, and the song captured his heart. It is one of Carly Simon's best performances, and if she were singing during WWII she would have been a HUGE star. Thank you for posting this.
Great song. One of my favorite movie themes songs. Too bad it wasn't promoted when it was released. I remember how wonderful it sounded in the theater.
Love this song

Good movie....a couple of other players who later became stars: Christine Lahti (as Hazel) and Holly Hunter.

TY for sharing my great Aunt in London used to tell me of the raids and the shelters and being prepared for the nightime bombings.
How she knew the fastest route to the tube and watched the world disappear around her into rubble.
God I miss her and the sharing of life in London during the blitz.
May they all be dancing and having the time of their lives in some great big band ballroom in the beyond.
TY to them for saving us to be free now.

The movie is Swing Shift with Goldie Hawn and Ed Harris.
This movie was great and reminds us of life and the war effort.
Peter Allan wrote the words and the music for this song.
Sung by Carly Simon and simply a wonderful smokey soulful song.
A great tribute to the war years and American sacrifice to win a war for freedom.
