They are two great horses no doubt,but for me Denman was the better horse in the 2008 gold cup when they were both in their prime denman destroyed kauto star by seven lenghts it was one of the best performances i have ever seen from a horse.happy retirement denman i doubt we will see his like again.
@ibanez, i think u could be right about AP he rode my uncles horse in a bumper at Sandown last year and the trainer told him 2 drop her in and bring her from off the pace cos she was a stout stayer but Mc Coy said " U cant do that round here she'll get pushed wide turning in and lose alot of ground" So Tony keeps her up with the pace all the way n kicks on turning for home whilst there was scrummaging in behind and stole the race with a brilliant tactical ride!!

A repeat of the 2008 performance could easily cause his heart problems to re-emerge, so whilst I think Denman will be ridden more aggressively next year, I don't think he can possibly set the scorching pace of before, so Kauto should still win.

totally agree with you. i was looking forward to see denman trying to win the hennessy again off a mark in the 180s. im sure the tank would have bolted up. hopefully we will see him soon. he is easily the best stayer around
there used to be a lot of denman vidoes denamn on you tube but a lot of racing videos were taken off for some reason. used to love watching denmans gold cup and hennessy win. they were amazing
first and formost i hope denman returns to 100% full health and secondly i hope he returns to his very best devstating top class form. its such ashame he is going to miss the hennessy but the horses wellbeing has to come first.

When both were at their injury free peak in 2008 it was DENMAN which triumphed so it has to be classed as the superior horse.
