@waterhose7 NCOs (Non Commissioned Officers), ranked at E4 and above are authorized to wear the red stripe on their uniforms. E1 (Private), E2 (PFC), and E3 (Lance Corporal) are not authorized to have a stripe until they are promoted to E4.
It never fails, I cry every time I hear this song. I was a Navy Corpsman so I do not know if it is the memory of the young children I pulled off the field of battle, or seeing my son come home in 2007 as a fallen Marine or just the pride of having the privilege of serving with them. For 36 years I stood with these fine people and would not trade a moment of it for another day on earth.
That's my Marine in the French horn row between the euphoniums and the trumpets, 4 Marine in! Oohrah! It was the first time I'd seen him at work on TV. I got to see him when the Twentynine Palms Band warmed up when I drove him back to the base after his leave ended this past July. Semper fi, everyone!
Love this band, more so than any other out there, thanks for capturing this wonderful band,I too see it in person each and every year, but, love to listen to them year round, thanks again!

silly question but...some of those marines don't have stripes on there pant, is there a reason for that?

Did you notice the man on the RV stand at the position of attention when the Marine Corps Hymn was playing? That's cool!!! Always Faithful!!!
