I'm 100% with Doug on this. Although I'm one of those people who would recognize a song that you hear a lot on the radio, and then you would buy the CD and look up more of their songs and then become a fan.
That's the thing with most groupies though...they do this "I know that one song by them and now they're my favorite band" without checking out any other music...
The majority of my female friends do that kind of stupid stuff...and it is really annoying.

Thats kinda messed up saying if you just like 'the reason' and nothing else, then he doesn't have interest in you as a fan. Fans are fans, and the more the merrier. Not saying that as musicians we have to submit to the fans expectations and make what will they will like. bottom line, cutting down fans - never a good idea..... and seriously i like the album "the reason". every man for himself i didnt like cause it was all soft stuff, which is disappointing when you say yer a hard rock band...

I think you're right. I am the biggest hoobastank fan, I like ALL of the songs but I knew them thank to the reason, without this unique song, my life wouldnt b the same. But i agree too, the biggest part of people knows only the reason and say that they love hoobastank. I think that you can't control the music u like...Anyways, he says that laughing so we don't have to take it too seriously !
