Haha class! I built a similar device but instead of using the metal bearings to complete a circuit, I have a webcam mounted underneath the table. It detects the colour and position of coloured gumballs on the grid and plays a corresponding sound loop. I wrote a tutorial on how to code the software or you can download it. See my video for more details...
@GumballDrumMachine cool - nice project, I like the improvements you've made on the gumball sequencer project (especially putting the webcam underneath to prevent occlusion)
This is kool that you made a small one but you did rows of 3. You should have done rows of 4 as in 1/4 quarter notes. So it would be a bar. With 3, your missing 1 note.
it doesn't control timing. it's basically turning on one of the nine prerecorded tracks. it's like a super simple mixer with just on or off for each track...
i don't see none of you haters inventing anything. it doesn't matter if it's pointless, the thing is dude made this and it's pretty darn cool! i wouldn't even know where to begin trying to make one of these.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
just stupid! instead of using balls, i would just use the keyboard. it's not worth to build another interfacing-element for 9 potential keys which can be used
how can all of you bein amazed for that... nobody knows a sampler (I do not say it is a bad stuff, it is well donde, interesting interface, funny, but not very practical)
oh god no, don't make the production of electronic music as simple as putting ball bearings in sockets - it's bad enough as it is with some 'music' being made by people who've had to actually think about how to make it first.. Lol
NoiseMakerX:What do you mean by that? Do you know how much it costs? If yes, tell me where I can get it.I don't care about the price...if it's not a million! xD Thx

first.. ever heard of 3/4 ?
and second.. these are loops per hole, which have nothing to do with being 4/4 3/4 or whatsoever :D :D
but this is some cool stuff.. i can imagen a huge panel with holes.. man that would be soo awesome

I think it'd be a more intresting way of brainstorming for dj's/artists etc
Think about it
Would you rather fiddle on a computer?
Or put some bearings in a slot?
More interactive.
But yea, pretty pointless overall XD
Dokubus 3 years ago
yeah, with the use of maybe the Lemur as the exception, stuff like live and FL and reason are just super annoying to learn on your own

It would be simpler to just make the holes toggle buttons. This is just a glorified midi machine.
