Typically I would and do agree that drilling for oil in our country is a great idea, but nobody seems to remember 6-8 months ago when unleaded dropped below $2.00 a gallon that OPEC decreased the amount of reserve to increase the price of fuel. They stated this openly and publicly yet nobody seemed to notice. Their reasoning was to increase shareholder profits.

Afterall, oil prices started to recede back in the summer when the Atlantic was suddenly fair game to drilling again and Virginia looked like it'd open it's coast. Strange.

New Flash: there is already and oil pipeline in AK, oil companies don't even want to be on ANWR land, they want to use directional drilling to reach to oil reserves. Also we could build a Natural Gas line right next to the oil line, build an LNG plant in Valdez, then we could ship it to the lower 48 and thus drive down our dependence

I was confused about all the hubub over drilling in ANWR years ago, but I happen to have an uncle living in Alaska & I got him on the phone one day. He's retired now, but he used to be the head geologist for the western half of the state of Alaska. I asked him about the issue. He said there was absolutely NO reason that drilling in ANWR would endanger anything in any way. Both wells and pipelines are extremely NONinvasive to the environment. Oil: $0.23/megawatt. Gas: $0.44/megawatt. Solar: $23/megawatt. Wind: $24/megawatt. Those stats are from the Dept of Interior. Fossil fuels are far more energy efficient & less costly. Don't engage in fantasies, because we need oil & gas and they are a great blessing to have enormously improved out way of life.

We have more oil in our reserves than the entire Middle East. That's a fact, not a fantasy. Fossil fuels have actually been CLEANER than prior fuels(like dung) and our environment is far cleaner today than in the past like ubiquitous dung by horses. & BTW, exporting oil in OUR RESERVES is what we should be doing, not importing oil.

But America has vast natural gas deposits and more coal than any other nation on Earth. Mine for coal, pump natural gas and drill for oil.
Factor in the price system. When coal and oil become more scare and more expensive switch to cheaper more efficient forms of fuel. By then wind and solar technology will be improved and cheaper.

Typically I would and do agree that drilling for oil in our country is a great idea, but nobody seems to remember 6-8 months ago when unleaded dropped below $2.00 a gallon that OPEC decreased the amount of reserve to increase the price of fuel. They stated this openly and publicly yet nobody seemed to notice. Their reasoning was to increase shareholder profits.
I still agree DRILL DRILL DRILL and let America profit.

The Canadian Tar pits are much harder to extrapolate oil from then it would be for us. Plus, regardless of how hard to get it is, as someone pointed out it would still logically be cheaper then shipping it. And, the more that is in the supply, the more it should go down.
Afterall, oil prices started to recede back in the summer when the Atlantic was suddenly fair game to drilling again and Virginia looked like it'd open it's coast. Strange.

Why would it cost less to drill + buy + ship then just drill?
If Saudi Arabia is doing it in a cheaper way, then we should simply use the technology they are. If their's is "easier" to extract, then we need to get a better technology, unless you feel like accepting the fact that the Middle East is more advanced then America.

Ha! As far as taxes are concerned ALASKA has the cheapest oil. Shipping it from Valdez, AK to the west coast is a lot shorter then around the horn of Africa of through the straight. The further the distance the more fuel is burned to get it here. The more fuel, the more it costs. Liberals are just trying to use the prestine wilderness line. Have they ever been to or seen ANWR? I doubt it. The area being talked about for drilling is small compared to the refuge!

It may cost that much to extract that barrel of oil, but the tax and shipping easily makes up for the price. New Flash: there is already and oil pipeline in AK, oil companies don't even want to be on ANWR land, they want to use directional drilling to reach to oil reserves. Thus no foot print on the land, and we get more oil. Also we could build a Natural Gas line right next to the oil line, build an LNG plant in Valdez, then we could ship it to the lower 48 and thus drive down our dependence

ok. well, drilling in alaska needs to happen. i have had it with the liberal complaints about the wildlife. would you rather be staring at a few deer in the backyard then be able to drive a car, heat a house, or enjoy all the luxurys that we do today? i sure wouldnt

I was confused about all the hubub over drilling in ANWR years ago, but I happen to have an uncle living in Alaska & I got him on the phone one day. He's retired now, but he used to be the head geologist for the western half of the state of Alaska. I asked him about the issue. He said there was absolutely NO reason that drilling in ANWR would endanger anything in any way. Both wells and pipelines are extremely NONinvasive to the environment. Beware the liberals jerking your chain wth their lies.

oil companies have over 10,000 permits to drill in USA already. they've had them for YEARS. bet the right wing media don't tell you mindless drones about that.
and guess what dipshit? if we let them drill in alaska they won't do it for years either. until the price of oil jumps up to like $200 a barrel.

They have the permits but there are laws that prevent them from drilling. Don't kid yourself or anyone else... if they could get the drills in there, they would.
