I'm playing Kenickie in the version at our school, but the guy playing Roger at our school is actually a bass...so we're going to also need to do what you guys did with "Mooning"
I also like the addition of Doody's guitar. It was kind of just there and then gone, but that's a nice addition.
This is the musical play, not the musical movie. Putzie was invented for the movie, and Rump was dropped. No idea why. But, as we're doing the actual play, we have Rump, not Putzie.
I'm glad, too. Sounds like too much of a Happy Days reference, to me.
hey izzy i see what you ment........Does Rizzo really swear at kenikie? I'm familiar with the movie version as well. What else do kenikie and Rizzo do that i shld be aware of?
Yes, she swears, and it's implied the two of them had sex. Rizzo gets a pregnancy scare during the play, after all. She also smokes (Your school may fake this entirely, or use herbal cigarettes), and drinks (Though you wouldn't really drink alcohol onstage, of course. XD)
And Kenickie makes some pretty lewd gestures in most productions of the song 'Greased Lightning'.
It's sort of a 'theatery' thing. We thought having him in a radio station was too conventional (And would be a pain for set changes, given how short his scenes were), and just hearing his voice wouldn't have made the audience go "OH. We should listen to him!" as much as seeing him onstage in that loud jacket. :)
I'm sorry, i have to call you out on this one. I played roger in my high school's production of grease a couple weeks ago and i know from experience that mooning is a high tenor song. Your roger is a good singer but he is definitely a bass singer and not a tenor. He might have been better cast as kenickie or someone who sings lower songs because this song just wasn't meant to be lowered this much
All I can tell you is that he is hitting the notes (Well, most of them) in the place that they were written in the book of music we received for this production.
It's in a different key than the CD we received with it, though, so that's a little confusing.
Just keep in mind, not all productions get the same materials. Different companies send different books.
And @ other comment: That's not exactly an opposite problem. XD Jan was only about 5 foot 2, and Roger was at least a foot taller.
Yeah, that makes sense. There are a couple parts that i've seen from your production that are kinda different from the one that my school did.
Also, sorry for the confusion about the whole roger-jan height thing lol it actually was supposed to be a reply to HeyHeyKRJ's comment about her show's jan being so much taller than roger
unrealistic, there is no way a black person would be that involved in the clearly white clique. i love black people, but i value historical accuracy. what can i say.
While I appreciate your love for historical accuracy, what can I say? The Pink Ladies are rebels. It makes sense to an extent that they wouldn't have a problem with black people, like their parents would have.
I'm playing Jan in my school production of Grease the School Musical :D I can't wait to do it. The only problem is, the guy who's playing Roger is shorter than me - I'm 5'6", he's about 5'2" xD
Actually, this made me laugh cause in our production we had the exact opposite problem lol. i played roger and i'm about 6'1'' while the girl who played jan was about 4' nuthin'' so mooning was just plain awkward hahaha
This is her first play, as far as I know. Actually, It was the first play for all the main characters (At least at this school), except for Jan, Roger, Kenickie, and Ms.Lynch.
that's understandable. it's cool that you have a black frenchie...the theatre company where i live is doing grease and i play roger...my step-sister got the part of frenchie and she's black
Yeah, it's pretty cool, especially considering we only have about 3 black people in our entire school. :D
We had the whole step-sister thing going on too. I wasn't totally clear on what was going on, but Marty and Eugene are actually siblings, and I guess Cha-Cha is their step-sister or something, which made it very awkward when she had to pretty much give Eugene a lap-dance. :)
Ahhhh, I see. I remember Cha-cha (LOL @ having to use character's names) saying something about how awkward it was to give her brother a lap-dance, so I thought she might be your step-sis or something.

This is like my favorite scene in the WHOLE play. I'm Rizzo and what we do with the fight scene is quite intense.

that's so B.S....you can't fake making out! both me (playin rizzo) and knicks are dating someone and we have to really do it XP...its gross
sydneygoesquack 3 years ago
Oddly enough, at least five people came up to one of the actors faking it and asked if they were really making out.

It'd be nice if you were more specific in your criticism. Nice attempt at what? Acting? Singing? Dancing? Costumes? Lighting? Camerawork?
"Nice Attempt" is pretty open-ended.

That's because they were four days old. :D
Did you know that if you leave a Wendy's Hamburger out for 3 days, it turns rock hard?
And we lost Jan's burger, so it was actually 2 cookies in a foil wrapper. :D
