...is interesting that Hawkwind were from an era that the Punks hated but that their music and vitality was actually the breeding ground for most Punk material!
@snotmale Hawkwind was among the minority of 'old' music punks were 'allowed' to like, even if they didn't always admit it. big with the scenes that came out of punk too (New Wave, Electro, New romantic, Post Punk, Psychobilly).
Wow! Footage from my first Hawkwind gig - I can almost smell the patchouli! They were selling those green luminous necklaces & a few people squeezed the radioactive glow stuff into their hair. Thanks for the memory - great gig!
You're right - I was there too & I bought one of those necklaces, programme/t-shirt/badges - it was my first ever gig. Ticket cost £2. That Gigs still up there with the best I've seen & I've been to a few since!
wow, thanks for sharing the rare footage.. yes, all HW film needs to be seen n witnessed .. would love to hear any n all versions of the aubergine that ate rangoon if anyone can link us .. great quality on the audio too.. more more ..
I think this and the comments here illustrate a general point which is that some of us want to see any and all Hawkwind footage from the 70's no matter how poor the quality and even if there is no sound.
Thanks for posting this. Really looking forward to hopefully seeing the restof it. Cheers.
GOOD NEWS: I recently recived the original MASTER super 8 reel. It is SUPERB quality compared to this. On the reel is this and some rare 1976 film. I will do some transfers and upload as soon as possible. UW2
Cool, it's just so sad this footage of old appears to be have been looked after so badly.
I'd love to know how much of the Space Ritual footage was recorded, because that professionally filmed footage which was used for the Silver Machine promo is superb quality.
be good to see some Kid from Silicone up here to share ... excellent - I was at the ICU gig Hammersmaith Clarendon - Bob was in fine form - keep in touch and zoom up the cini footage a bit more a --anymore silent stuff for us to view would be great ...is it all from the one Newcastle gig ?
nice stuff - my Bro was there - sadly not his sibling ! there must be more out there
lets all get searching - asking about for it - as I have said before there is much under the counter VHS of Calvert with Krankshaft quite a lot of it from the barn rehearsals and that 1984 ish ? tour

An interesting story that you may not have heard about.
In September 77 Marc Bolan died in a crash when his mini hit a tree.
If he was in his Rolls Royce he probably would have survived but he had lent it to Hawkwind.
Good find btw

Ok so the video is not so good, but the sound is the best I've heard of live Calvert. What gig is that from? Calvert was something very special.
