  • beautiful...beautiful...beautiful...

  • @ beretep .. I must say that you are totally ignorant ! The lady is NOT Japanese.. she is a BAHE BENGALI or a RAJBANGSHI, as they are called in northern Bengal. They originate from the district of BIRBHUM and often perform on trains that cross BOLPUR, their district headquarters.

They are nomads .. and often go hungry. But it will not show on their faces when they are singing .. that's coz they are NOT singing for money .. but for a much higher cause.. that's because this what they are meant to!

  • সুপার...! :D

  • Its a nice one..can u do me a favour?please tell me from where they belong.....meanse in which AKHRA u got them?I want to get them live...

  • অসাধারণ ...!

  • Could anybody explain me the theology, for lack of a better word, of the Baul?

  • @TheRacistsMustDie I'd be interested in learning more about the Baul also.

  • They are Amazing! Wow...

  • Maki Kazumi....you really had the world fooled at the first glance !!! You are an amazing woman. You blended in so well that you even sounded like the rest of the great musicians. This really proof that the world is ONE...not divided by CAST COLOUR or RELIGION ! EK KOAN KAR ( GOD IS ONE!!!)

  • The singer is not from the Rajbanshi community, nor is she Nepali or Assamese. Her name is Maki Kazumi and she's Japanese. My wife knows her well.

  • She is amazing! They are amazing...

  • She is amazing! They are amazing...

  • For God sake guys, don't say something without knowing ! She is NOT Japanese. She has Mongoloid looks because she belongs to the RAJBANSHI (BAHE BENGALI) tribe, which originated from the erstwhile kingdom of Cooch - the same place that Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur belonged to ! She was the Princess ! They generally use the EK(one) TARA(wire) & sing to the glory of the GURU ... the central figure in the purest of Hindu traditions.

They are generally nomads from BIRBHUM, West Bengal !

  • oshadharon

  • An excellent soul touching music. Simplicity, originality. Not commericial.

  • i so hate myself for not knowing this language

but the music itself is enough to make any sane man BAUL

  • Thank you for posting this. Have you read the Vancouver UFO Examiner? You'll find the link on my channel :)

  • Beware of Purna Das Baul and his younger son Dibyendu Chotton Das.They Cheat and steal you very easily.Don't help them.Support some original Bauls from Bangladesh and West Bengal.Because they collected lots of Dollers from North America to help Bauls, but never. They are lier.

  • Healing music, and GROOVY FUNKY !

  • Absolutely wonderful, just hope the modern life will not destroy all this important part of the Bengalis culture.

Hope some young people despite Internet and TV will understand the importance to save it for the next generations...

  • joto shob soytaner dol, emon vab dekhay jen heteray shob buje gese, ektaro shothik shikkha nai, abar baul gan gay, kothaguli eto pechiye bole, shune mone hoy moha genir dol.

  • This woman is from japan,Lots of japanese are becoming bauls nowadays and many are becoming Rajanikants fan too:--)) .hmmmmmmmmmm......

  • They all sang and played well.

Who cares where they are from? As long as they sing and you enjoy; that's all count.

  • exxxcelllent.... they sing from the core of their heart... full of life...

  • Dude you need to chill, firstly its baul kirtana and its nice.Secondly.The mataji mostlikely is from assam, and her sangha mates are from bengal, maybe even nagaland one of them. WHen I studied in India I learned Bengali and I used to speak with my assamese mates with it. Its all mix,its one country Bharata why whinge about silly stuff for.

  • God man bauls r real they r pure .. Does it matter where tey r frm ??? Guys live and let live .. God bless all

  • I am surprised that you are appreciating baul songs - and those who live that life and yet you are fighting amongst yourselves whether the Baul is Bengali or from Assam!

  • @scienceteacher14 She is a Japanese lady.

  • Bauls have captivated the hearts and imaginations of the people of Ganga-Padma delta since ages. We do not need a UNESCO to add anything to it, certainly not a certificate.

  • Fully agreed with you.

  • This is so pure and from the soul.

  • this is the last thing u can fight about. baul music is heaven on earth.

Baul songs have been declared "Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO.

  • Dear friends, don't forget Bengalistan ( Land of Bengalis ) includes East Bengal(B D )+ West Bengal +Assam+Tripura+others = Total 7 Regions, We are all same people and speak same language, I think. What do you think, my friends ?

  • Not quite, assamese and tripura people are a different are not bengali, but theyre are included in bengali.

  • ya dream on wanna be paki, we are Indians first and then anything else.

  • Guys why are you fighting over BD or WB bauls?

And there is no hindi influence on baul song. though it has and will evolve with time. Its a fact and it will be good for it.

  • bangladeshi bauls wear checkered lungis .... its so ethnic!!

  • The point being?????

(its a traditional baul gathering.... of course they wear lungis ...)

  • Grow up and stop comparing..Just enjoy the music.

  • why r u fighting? just relax and enjoy the music, man.

  • u r eating shit. the singer in this song is of japanese origin, she is a shishya of the other bauls here, of course she is not going to feel so in-tuned with the culture as the bengali bauls there. why dont u check out the videos of the other bauls singing, tell me if they're not lively

  • perfect artists

  • Dear Beretep, this is Sri Shadhan Bairagya's ashram in Hatgobindopur and with him is Srima Maki Kazumi.

  • I did not understand what they say, but they are PERFECT ARTISTS. May they live long with all happiness and prosperity. May their art live for eternal time.

  • NITAY GOUR ,RADHE SYAM,sister ,brothers

  • they are playing Ektara, dubki, tobla etc and that lady is a jap lady chose to be a boul her name is Ozi.

  • Can anyone identify some of those instruments they're playing?

  • Hallo, i´m glad that you are interest.the instrument that Maki play on are an Ektar(" ek" in Bengali means "one")so it´s only one string. If you like to now more you can go to

The Blacklist Journalist February 1 2004 there is one articel.

And you can go to the links to this video.Beretep

  • @beretep I would love to play one of those one stringed instruments. Thanks for expalining it.

  • Ejoy this while it lasts, this is the last disappearing trace of that lingering perfume in a room. In another ten years, bauls will be wiped out in India and bangladesh as "modernity" hit the economy!!!!

  • I think that it is unlikely. Not because that you are wrong in your social analysis; but becasue, these are people of much higher quality then us. For them money, fame or hardship, all are same if they can't roam freely and sing. Unless laws(like that in last fundemantalist govt. in Bangladesh) prohibits them from singing, they will persist.

I just hope that I am right for the sake of coming generations.

  • kothai? kokhon? desher onek jagahte akhono baular dol ghurche, oder againste kuno prohibition ache, eta ami to chuniney, amader desher gram digey akhono poribesh jerukum secular chilo akhono aache. onoderke bhul dharona diye ki lab?
