i would actually love i if you provide the whole show.
but back on topic, humvee is suitable for what you can say "light cavalry" , skirmishing but not for intense urban battle..humvees are rather like horse archers, they can keep their distance, good for distraction but if they enter the main battle they are quite fucked. So it's not the humvee's problem, but the stratergy.
The translation on the Humvee comment is not correct.
What he was really saying is that Humvee used aluminum body, which had weak protection, while the Chinese version used steel plate to start with, with added armor protection, is much better against mines and bombs.
brilliant programme you got the engineer whos blatantly spouting BS for his company yammering on about bullets and missiles bouncing off his beloved creation and even claims that its lighter than the hmmwv yet made of high density steel. then the admiral and army officer come in and completely rip into everything he says telling everyone that like the american version, it will NOT survive cannons and missiles and they talk about its TRUE role which is recon, air drop and rapid reaction
I love Fang, she is like, you said the thing is made out of steel, but how can be lighter then aluminum? Then followed by BS answer. I love that woman!
Dude, you didnt listen at all did you? Didnt they say that it was 'high-molecular' or whatever composite steel material which reduces weight by 40 to 50%? If you can only read from the sub, then at least read the whole thing.
Here in the philippines we modified the american JEEP! Now we call it Jeepney! Its longer than the military Jeep and it looks like a long Van. We hope that we can also modified HUMMERS into minibus! Lol!
Oh by the way I've purchased this Chinese-made tactical flashlight. The brand is as popular as the Surefire in China. I can't trust it enough to mount it on my M1A Socom 16 when I NEED it to defend my property and my family. It turns off to the recoil stay on of my airsoft, let alone my God damn .308!
I'm Chinese and I have nothing against them, only communism. This is what happens when a government has too much on its plates. Quality control is compromised.
The Chinese speaks as if "their" version of would fair better to an IED and that this "miracle" composite that they plan on using would make a humvee mine resistant.
It is funny how the good admiral here just blatantly contradicted this "engineer" and insisted that the humvee is not a tank no matter how much armor is slapped on it.
Let me get this straight: because the U.S. didn't and couldn't know its militaristic needs thirty years in the future, it was wrong for AM General to have developed the HMMWV with an aluminum body? If the U.S. were idiots and JUST designed a vehicle like the HMMWV today, sure, it'd most definitely be made of steel. That's not the major issue. The major issue is that the body takes full force of explosions rather than deflecting them like new tactical vehicles with V-hull designs.
I feel the good stuff is actually around 3:47. It's here that the advertising stops, and real discussion starts on just what this thing is good for.
He's absolutely right, the Humvee isn't inherently bad, it's simply being used in roles it was never designed for. Of course it's going to fail in those roles, but that doesn't mean it's obsolete or useless. You just have to use this thing in the right places, like any weapon.
The Humve was never meant to take ieds or rpgs. Prior to OIF the majority of them were soft skinned. However the uparmor kit has seriously increased crew survivorbility. The vehicle may be a catastrophic loss in an ied attack but as long as the guys inside can walk away thats all that matters. What I don't understand is if the chinese hate the humvee so much why did they copy it to the last detail?
Yea. Still, as the video points out the Humvee is a creature from 1979. Haven't the Humvee now been replaced by the Stryker which is also air portable? Or are they made for completely difference missions?
no the U.S. still use the Humvee. the uparmor Humvee has three type of armors.
Don't believe the Chinese look at their military they copied majority of their weapons from the U.S. You should check out their helicopter it look just like the U.S black hawk.
nah insurgents in iraq have gotten to a point where they are smart enough to make super effective IEDs. and hummers are just death traps. if you ask any usmarine they will tell you they all salvage metal and attached it all over the hummers in order to make it "armored".

"Our Humvee, which looks pretty identical to the U.S. HUMVEE, THOUGH VASTLY INFERIOR TO OUR OBVIOUSLY SUPREME MADE-IN-CHINA VERSION"
Riiiiiight, China. You say it's better for mobility when your very weakness is rapid deployment.

simple, cuz they like humvee
that's why now the chinese gov is goin to buy Hummer, one og the GM division.
Even chinese police use Hummer H2.

The Humvee a dried toad, LOL.
The Humvee can get into the water, this one can't.
Hopefully, this one is better against RPGs, IEDs and mines.
Whatever the case, a jeep will always be necessary to armies.
Just make the attacks survivable.

This is actually praiseworthy. I know a lot of my friends in the Marines would have loved for their Humvee to be a bit tougher.
