actually, I hate to burst ur bubble but it is playback. The vocals are not but the instruments are clearly not being played. How do I know? 1. because you can tell by the way the guitarist is strumming that hes just bullshitting. 2. because the instrumental tracks are exactly the same as in the recording, meaning that there are too many things being played that cannot be done live without adam also playing guitar. so suck on that bitches.

@The12aerosmith okay, so lemme get this straight. You just mean instruments right? Playback is vocal tracks, instruments is dub track. And just because there is a dub track doesn't mean the the instrument players are miming, (not saying that you meant that, but making my point) So, even if there are dub tracks, the people that are on stage most likely are actually playing unless the things I've heard about TOTP are true(too cheap to have all proper equipment).

@EthMan09 ok let me be short and simple: the instruments are "dub tracked" if thats what you called..Adam levine's vocals are the only live thing about this, the quality of the insrtuments doesnt match the sound of a live performance. Not to say they arent fantastic musicians, theyre incredible

Listen guys. The way the song is performed on the cd is extremly difficult to perform live. All he did was just go down an octive towards the end because you run out of breath. He was great. In fact im glad he did it this way, use your own voice~~

it's obvious that you can hear two rythmguitars. On stage I can see only one bass and one guitar. So I think that only the singer is performing live.

Sorry guys. I have a friend who played on TOTP as well, and they had to BEG to play live at the show, and as you can hear, maroon 5 is also play backing. For example, the sound of the drums is changing exactly like it's on the cd, which is recorded in seperate pieces, with seperate drumset, while there's only 1 drumset on this stage.

So maroon 5 is play backing here, but it's not there fault.

First off- there are NO pre-recorded background Vocals- lead vocals only- secondly- the drummer is playing LIVE- the singer is too...why would any of you think that the other musicians are playing to a prerecorded music.? dude...maroon 5 never does playback...

they are all playing live, the only reason why the voice is pitching in is bcuz they have the background vocals recorded...and some sound effects...thts it...

theyre all live...thts why adam's vocals sounds different...u cant hear his voice shaking and the "SSS" in the recording...

u can even hear when he does the falsettos that he does it completely differently...

this is definately NOT playback. you can hear it imediately, it sounds way different than the single-version. adams voice is higher, and some parts he sings a bit different (not 'out of tone' but.. just different ;) )

The singer is definately singing.. but im pretty sure most (if not all) of the music is backing tracks. You can see theres certain parts that dont sync up to what the drummers doing. Certain cymbal hits that are in the music you dont see him do. and the ones he is synced up on the camera zooms in on maybe to give it the illusion? its hard to tell but definately not unlikely. could be wrong ... who knows

live just means its played in person. theyre all playing in person i believe, unless theyre faking it to a track which i highly doubt they are. this is one of the best live bands out there.

They definitely are the best live band out there - they are just amazingly in sync and in tune when their live, and they only make music for the live part. But they are faking to their own track (aside Adam's vocals) here, and sometimes they're forced to at shows for whatever reason. But they really hate it, and Jesse (keyboards) talks about it in the tour diary.
