  • She uses expressions, to bring out all the qualities of a great entertainer with a range of vocals that so many singers do not have. She should of had better management so the world would have listened to her more.

  • Beautiful

  • Cindy Lauper Time after Time

  • dusty was awesome. most artists these days need gimmicks to make up for a lack of talent.

  • Dusty never looked better than during the mid 1960s. Such an elegant style.

  • One of the best looking lesbians ive ever seen

  • man why were the 60's not now? I am so jelaous of all 60's generation people, seriously!

  • So glamorous!!

  • I have just re-discovered Dusty Springfield. She was MARVELOUS!

  • Wow! When I look at Dusty and then look at Lady Gaga I have to ask myself. "Where and when did the music world start going crazy?" Hope I live long enough to see the love of great voices and real music, without all the gimmicks, return.

  • @1stMrMemories Not everybody uses gimmicks nowdays. Listen to Bette Midler.

  • WOW! She is a beautiful woman. Love her!

  • Dusty Was So Beautiful and Could Sing Anything Beautifully!

  • A masterclass in singing!

  • This is one of the great examples of passion harnessed and controlled in tension that builds up and then gets released. Wonderful. A fabulous lady and beautiful!

  • What's the name of the editing tecnique at 1:27?

  • @K9spot66 Do you mean the key change? Otherwise referred to as "modulation" when the key goes up half a step. Not sure if that's what you mean because that's a musical thing and "editing' usually refers to film.

  • @bobbymoya I think he's talking about the filming. Her close up and far away like that.

  • @one5643 oops - silly me I stand corrected

  • My Favorite song of "ALL" time!!!!! Great job Dusty!!!!!

  • I'm watching this on a Sunday afternoon in 2010, and it occurs to me that Dusty is timeless. Where ever we are, when ever we hear her, she creates a special place and feeling that is Dustyland, forever young, fab, meaningful, deep and true. Thank you, Mary, for the wonderful gift you shared with the world. As she later sang. "Quiet, please, there's a lady on stage. She's singing, and she means it."

And thank you gferdinandus, for the timeless posts.

  • @BlondBeehive - Pass the kleenex...lets all masturbate quietly togather...

  • @BlondBeehive true. Absolutely wonderful and timeless. Dusty was a true lady with class. Opposite of people like FatherVineyard. I ask would him would you say this in front of people? You are a scumbag if ever there was one. A true scumbag that deserves everlasting hellfire.

  • So lucky to hear you singing !

  • Gorgeous...

  • BBC exec in 1968: "Chairman Hill, this is just crap for the kids. Let's erase it."

Lord Hill: "Yes, I agree. Additionally, she sounds just like a Negro! Erase it!"

  • God, she's so pretty here. Elegant and timeless.

  • Yes, I agree. Dusty had beauty, class, taste, and a truckload of talent... a hard combination to beat.

  • so sweet

  • this song is timeless, written by the great team of Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne, never heard anyone do a bad version of it and Dusty does an excellent rendition.

  • I love this song! One of my all time favorite romantic ballads. It's been covered by a LOT of singers. But the late great Dusty does her usual TOP NOTCH job with her version. THANKS so very much for sharing this delightful gem with us! :)

  • Chet Baker totally owns this song.

  • wow it'd be priceless! if the last two so called lost episodes of her BBC and ITV shows were found and put up for auction on Ebay (LOL)!

  • was it only two shows? i thought they lost a series and two shows of the bbc and almost all of the itv shows including the performance with hendrix

  • there's a lost performance BBC where led zeppelin was a back up band for some folk singer whom i can't remember his name. and like, robert plant was just on harmonica and stuff. BBC has soooo much cool stuff....

  • youre lucky you grew up at that time

  • I've discovered the wonderful Dusty Springfield some days ago (where I have been living before...I wonder myself). She's absolutely fantastic ! If Frank Sinatra was the "voice" among male singers, so Dusty is the "VOICE" among female singers ! I simply adore her. Thanks for posting this superb videos !

  • Same here, discovered her this month...she is fantastic!

  • Hi, and welcome to the club! The exact same thing happened to me 40-some years ago! You are very fortunate because you have so many great Dusty songs to yet hear. I think that most of us "old-timers" agree that the feeling never goes away. Enjoy!

  • same here too :)

  • screw frank sinatra though. bing crosby was THE voice.

  • WOW, Dusty just lays it all out there, beautiful.

  • beautiful performance by dusty R.I.P

  • since the dawn of time there must have been billions upon billions upon trillions of minutes that have passed by.

but i seriously doubt in all that time there`s ever been a better two minutes glued together than the two in this clip!

    dusty rules!!

  • She is simply fabulous! Bless her soul forever..

  • Buy two so you'll still have one after you've worn out the first!

  • Has everyone gotten their "Dusty Springfield Live at the BBC" DVD? I highly recommend it, and Dusty is a wonderful houseguest! If the demand is there, perhaps someone at the BBC will get off their duff and scour the world for other episodes. There have to be some out there...somewhere. Spread the word!

Disclaimer: I'm not associated with the BBC or anyone selling DVDs; I just love Dusty!

  • I heard that there may just be another BBC DVD on the way. More than that I know nothing!

  • Thanks so much. Keep us posted if you hear anything else. I'm one of those people who can't sleep on Christmas Eve!

  • Is this possible? How amazing would it be if the "lost" episodes of her BBC and ITV shows were to somehow be recovered/found?!

  • I really like Dusty, and I found out my grandad used to like her too... we know good music! lol

  • you cant compare duffy or amy winehouse to her, evan tho they are good, she is on a different level, dusty was amazing <3

  • No Dusty! we're the lucky ones, for having you to brighten up our lives, thank you lass.

    R.I.P Dusty, Ray♥ X X X

  • I've loved this song for a couple of years, but this has definitely become wedding material. As in, I'll be singing it to my fiancee at our wedding. :)

This performance puts even Dusty at a whole new level. Can ANY singer active today come close to matching this warmth, this range, this sheer COMFORT shown here by the greatest songstress of all time?

Dusty's performance here is only analogous to the one slow dance you had with the Queen of the Prom you pined for all through high school. Wow.

  • on a scale of 1 to 10, assuming 1 is terrible and 10 is perfect, you`d have to add up all the atoms in the known universe and multiply them by all the grains of sand on every beach on the planet to get my rating.

  • I've just quickly done that calculation and guess what? - that's my score too!

  • gferdinandus, by some strange mathematical symmetry that number is also the number of thank you`s i owe you for posting all these great dusty springfield clips on youtube.

  • In Dustys day there was an abundance of talent,Dusty broke the limits of abundance, lovely lady!

  • i though it was cyndy lauper's time after time song.. man imagined if she covered that

  • WOW, How beautiful was that..

  • are there any ladies my age (23), that look as beatiful and can sing as wonderfully as dusty?

    If so marry me!!!! haha

  • Dusty and a Classic! Life is great.

  • Actually, I hit the "post" button too quickly. I wanted to comment on how Dusty could sing so powerfully without becoming harsh. She was a master of dynamics. Singing softly or powerfully, she never lost that beautiful quality that made her voice so easily recognizable. Many modern singers could benefit by listening to Dusty. What an artist she was!

  • @Mycroftsbrother That's what makes her so special

  • On a scale of ten, I would give this an eleven or higher.

  • If Dusty were here to day she would be blowing todays' female "entertainers" out of the water-no comparisons-a true classic who will forever remain in my heart.

  • Wow!! Absolutely wonderful. Not only was she a great singer, but also an excellent actress too. The camera absolutely loves her. No wonder the English loved her so much.

  • Yes a homegrown English girl (via Irish & Scottish ancestry ) and a champion of getting motown groups performing in the U.K

  • It's so hard to pick a favourite song from the BBC DVD, but this, i think, just about seals it for me, lovely lyrics, sung with feeling and her usual professionalism by the lovely Dusty....i could watch this time after time.

  • Thanks jenny5wren! I purchased three Dusty CD's last week and I guess I'm going to have to find that one now. :) I have to have Dusty singing that song.

  • I can only second that.

  • This song sung by the one and only Dusty simply breaks my heart. Love is everything. Thanks for your immeasurable talent Dusty. You have left us a treasure of goose bump inducing musical memories.

  • Hi RobinS2006, did you know that this track is on the album WHERE AM I GOING, it's one of the bonus tracks on the 1998 CD re-issue,and NO i don't work for the record company. Can't wait to get this CD myself.

  • By the way Robin' i must apologise because when i went to vote for your comment (goose bumps) i hit the wrong thumb which turned red instead of green for good comment, i must say i agree with you entirely.
