I Agree with you and so glad i had the Blessed opportunity to record/play drums for this song and be a friend/fan of Dr Margaret Pleasant Douroux !! James P "jimmy" Smith Drums and Lead Vocalist for Dallas Thompson & the Var-Son Community Choir, Buffalo NY
thank you, Jesus my daughter was talking about this song/service were the Holy Ghost of Jehovah was/is all up in the mist! Glory to God don't you feel it? God made us for a reason, not just a season, let's us do what we are born for a true God given talent! I have the original LP, I played it and prayed that God would work a miracle and he did! she loves it, "I'm Glad," That God made me!

I sure hope you did sing it to the glory of God. Did you have that high soprano voice at the end. You had to be there when we did it cause the song had a reprise where those sopranos were doing their thing. When it was recorded about 38 years ago, I was there and it was fabulous.
I sing tenor in my church's choir, and we sang this song today during our worship service. God really blessed us today, we received a standing ovation, and I hope that we did justice to this classic song, giving God the glory as well.
I had my brother to die 2 days before my mother' 80th birthday celebration. I took this song as a tribute to those lives and a chronicle of our family. That is my niece in the picture with Reverend James Cleveland and her all grown with her husband toward the end of the video.
God makes a man but a man can only bury a man's body after God takes his spirit away. The first is the car I was riding in to attend my brother's funeral and then shots of my brother being buried.
One of my favorites by the late Rev. James Cleveland, the King of Gospel! Furthermore you Jehovah Witnesses who like to come on here and chastise real Christians, give it a rest. We know who thee KING is and that is Jehovah God. What you all need to be worried about is the false doctrine and teachings you are spreading throughout the land and not petty stuff like people calling people the kings and queens of gospel.
Yes, this was a great song. I have it on the orginal LP. It was on a GWA album - the cover had a black background with yellow type and no picture. I am going to search for it. BUT no turn table to play it on : ) Yes, that end part is very special.
Very few people have a turntable. My Uncle Robert in California never thow away anything. His turntable on his stereo is in mint ocndition. I can still play songs on it. His whole component work, radio too.
Yes, it is a powerful song. I am always glad to hear it over and over again. I wish I had recorded it through the end, cause it worthy of foot praise.
You might try looking on some old Gospel Music Workshop recordings with Savoy Records back in 1973 when it might have been released. Malaco might have merged with Savoy and have them archived. Someone sent me a mixed cd and it had a few of James Cleveland's treausres on it, including some of his rehearsals with the choir.
I had it on the cd "James Cleveland with the World's Greatest Choirs", which is still available for purchase. I used to blast the last part when they keep repeating "I'm Glad, Glad, Glad Glad Glad", a great song.
Yeah, we use to blast it when we sung it with Jimmy Dowell. He almost always wanted to jump off the organ and do a holy dance. Sometimes we'd slow it up and make the audience anticipate our next move...then they shouted. A great song to direct.
I love this song, and have always thought it would be a great choice for a spectacular choreographed piece, especially towards the end as the stage would just explode with dancers, colored fabric/ribbons, people on swings like birds in cages doing those soprano trills... yes, I know I am crazy, but I think it would look fantastic, lol.
Hey I could see what you are saying and liking it. I will send you the song if you will produce it. I found the song among lots of unnamed that someone sent to me. It was a fantastic song. I remember singing it with Jimmy Dowell. There was always people singing and shouting and praising God afterwards.

This song was in its hey day when we wore those ponytail hairdos and puff balls. I've seen them flying all across the room when I'm Glad was sung.
