Even as he lost one person his life (the death of his father), someone new entered (the birth of his baby daughter). He says that "god is good" because no matter what happens, life goes on.

This is a song about the circularity of existence and the use of God to appease death. That being from the south is being christian, no matter the life lived. That every Georgian is religious when they're placed in a box. I think the melody is amazing, but the lyrics are often misunderstood.
