Those videos were presented at a Brazilian TV channel at 1997, in a tribute to the 20 years "without" Maria. Nice videos, testimonials and even Callas interviews. Unfortunately, at 2007 (30 years of her death) I didn't see anything tributing to her...
In 2007, a Brazilian TV channel presented the French documentary "Callas Assoluta" by Phipippe Kohly, with subtitles in Portuguese. In 2008, the documentary was shown again, this time dubbed in Portuguese. The narrator was Maitê Proença.
Thanks a lot for your posts 'Callas as Medea'. They're fantastic! Where did you get all these photos from? Before seeing them I knew only several pictures from performances. 'Medea' live must have been magical. Callas' singing is full of emotions.
Before Callas, there role wasn't performed...And after her, it wasn't performed the way SHE managed to do it...Though Gencer was good, it will never be the same...
Medea is probably the most underrated Opera. It is in my Opinion one of the best ever role of Callas along with Norma and Traviata. Medea is such a demanding role that nobody after Callas was capable of performing it properly. She was, she is and will remain unique for ever. Efcharisto Poli Maria, Brava Callas !
It is not underrated it is just extremely difficult to be sung thus not presented. L v Beethoven and J Brahms worshiped this Opera and had described it as "the Opera that we musicians recognise among ourselves as the highest form of dramatic Art ever written"
This duet is called "Figli Miei - Miei Tesor" (My Children - My Treasure), and it is some of the most eloquent lyric work ever written. Actually, I first got to know Callas' voice through this duet. It is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for posting. BTW, this is Mirto Picchi singing, not Jon Vickers.
If you had paid attention to my description text and to the tags, you would have noticed that I never said it was Jon Vickers singing. At 1 04 Callas takes the body position of an ancient greek statue called "Tanagraia" which were statues placed by ancient greeks outside tombs!

Yes, I do have the Callas-Vickers duet. All the 3 recordings:
Dallas, London and Milan. I chose the studio recording with Mirto
Picchi because the sound has a better quality and because I do
appreciate Serafin's direction.
