Great work. I saw the one that happened this year round February. Something a bit more labor intensive would be to use a 30 day trial of adobe after effects and do motion tracking. then you could keep the moon in the center of the shot all the time and watch the changes a little bit better. great work though.

Well, if it happens when the sun is out it's a solar eclipse. If it happens at night you can usually assume it's a lunar eclipse...

@misterpopvideo Actually, no offense but, a more specific definition is that in a solar eclipse, the sun is obsructed by the moon and a lunar eclipse is the earth obstructing the suns rays from the moon. but like you said, the lunar eclipse does happen at night and the solar eclipse does happen during the day.

Nicely done. The moon appears to move across the sky from east to west because of Earth's rotation, but the moon's orbital motion moves it west to east! This always makes lunar eclipses a bit counter-intuitive to watch, but your time lapse clearly shows the moon's orbital motion. Thanks.

At 1:53 - I filmed the whole thing in real time, so I was able to pause the timelapse and return to real time when the plane passes. You don't see the body of the plane, just its lights flashing. It passes from the top of the screen, right next to the moon, then out through the bottom of the screen.

I remember once when by chance I was up in the middle of the night and I saw a lunar eclipse...and I didn't even know it at the time! This phenomena can only occur because light bends around large objects, am I right? The reduced energy of the light from the sun is seen in the shift towards the red spectrum.

I filmed this total eclipse of the moon from the roof of my office in Godalming, Surrey, UK, on the night of March 2nd/3rd 2007. The entire eclipse was filmed in real time then digitised and speeded up on the morning of 3rd March, when I uploaded it to YouTube. Each passing of the moon across the screen represents about 15 minutes of real time. All that I've added is the music and the titles.
