Were I you, I would've put some floodgates at the point between the volcano and the moat, and at that thin wall south of the moat, so that you can empty it if anything falls into the moat that you want to recover. Also might I suggest a few watchtowers on your fort? Sure they have no practical use, but they would look cool.
@draakjepet But that's no fun. Unless the traps are manually triggered by dwarves to dump magma on your enemies' heads. That's always tons of Fun to build.
@izraqthedark I'm trying to avoid tapping into that "fun" at all costs :D, I did it for shits and gigles once... learned a few things... 1. you can't drown it, 2 it's endless, 3 no matter how good your dwarves are you can't win @_@
My current "mega" project is to completely seal off the edges of the map at the magma sea layer and drain it with pumps :D. I'm using a rather large water reactor. You're on the new version as well so just a note to most people: ***SPOILER***there's a magma sea at the bottom of the entire world
@captnduck That links to a version that already has your fortress started in that location, I think FDoKE meant to ask if you had a clean version of that world without anything built yet?
@captnduck there is region#-world_gen_param.txt file (# region number) in main DF directory. it has world history and other seeds. with this info it is possible to generate almost identical world by using advance world generation parameters.
Probably a little late, but you can manually add your world (region12 IIRC) by opening the region12-world_gen_param.txt file, copying the world gen entry and pasting it into Dwarf Fortress 0.31.25\data\init\world_gen.txt. Then all you need to do is design a world with advanced params, find your addition on the list and make it, and there you have it.
@hydrofenikkusu this is very late, but you can use the seeds of the world to regenerate the same world - and embark on the same place as him, with same history rivers etc etc.. but with a clean island.
*watches vid*...*reads some comment*...well I can see the common opinion here.....NURSE. WE NEED SOME BINS FOR THOSE CRAFTS...STAT!
