I went to Japan as an exchange student (unfortunately I had to go back to France halfway through it because of what has happen in March) and the movie soundtrack captures exactly that... precious feeling you only experience there... Especially in Tokyo, it's just the perfect soundtrack to listen to while walking the streets of this city !! Wow ... now the feeling of nostalgy is so strong that it hurts :,(

To me the best shots in the video are from trains - between 20 and 30 seconds where the train goes across three massive high density long neon streets. Really makes me want to be there for the excitement and loneliness of the big big city.

Same with 2.15 when the van shoots across the intersection.

I agree. So many of my friends and family don't understand why I like it so much. They say it has no plot. But there's something in it that feels so incredibly heart wrenching you know? The visuals, music and script along with the actors are all in sink and it really paints that picture of meeting someone and even though you know you'll never meet again just knowing that for someone reason that person made an imprint on you. Its not for everyone, but the artist in me really loves it.

They obviously didn't understand it, if they think there's no plot. All stories have a plot, no matter how mundane and 'ordinary' the events that occur in story seem. What a person has to do as an audience member is muse why the artist put a certain thing in the contents of their art, and what was the intention behind it.

@godsgrl444 You know what it is? I just watched it and it's an adventure, it's something so different from what we usually experience. This is the movie that made me really want to visit Japan, it's like a whole different world. There is no real plot. It's basically a movie about experiences of two people in Japan from a foreign perspective. Just imagine yourself in an environment completely alien to you. Yeah the cinematography was beautiful. If you liked this movie check out Before Sunrise.

No, didn't get that feeling at all - and I'm a PC lefty, who knows it when I see it. Maniok's quite right, the film was all about the isolation of being in a different headspace. Setting it in Japan just made that point viusally - and there were plenty of westerners in the film who the main characters couldn't relate to as well.

i don't think it was done in either a mean-spirited or racist way at all. the point of the movie is about people being unable to communicate or understand one another. bill murray couldn't communicate with his wife nor anyone in tokyo, and scarlett had difficulties communicating with her husband, yet when they found each other they immediately became kindred spirits. it is a really good movie worth watching and the soundtrack KILLS

Like there's so much going on around me. People's lives, each a different trace in the whole picture of light. I put this movie on when I get home. So nice:P Makes me feel lonely after it's done though, that is if I'm still awake!
